First, I want to say that this has been a really cool experienceand I’ve loved telling people that we’re doing secret santa with like 27,000 possible participants. This has been one of the neatest threads all year.
I haven’t posted my response to the present 'cause I’m not sure how you’ll take it. I wanted to post, 'cause it’s really funny, but I fear it’ll spoil this thread, so PLEASE take this in the humorous sense that it’s meant.
Shera’s present to me was a box of 30 drinking games.
I don’t drink. Haven’t had a taste since 1994.
MY fault, should have posted a wish list.
Happy Holidays Shera and all dopers. Long live the SDMB!
I hope my giftee actually gets thier gift. The nice lady at the post office said it was no problem when I sent it, bt I haven’t heard that it has gotten there yet.
Worry worry worry.
Well, if it gets there after Christmas, consider it a bonus gift.
Whee! I got mine this morning. I partly woke up at around 8 am because I heard the doorbell ring and my father said something about there being a package for me, but I wasn’t quite awake then and thought I had dreamt the whole thing. But no!
I got a troll. He’s very cute. I put a little tonttu hat on him and now he’s sitting on my bookshelf. I also got a marzipan pig and Christmas cookies. Whee! Thank you ems. I hope you enjoy your gift. (I hope you get your gift…)
Thank you so much for the wonderful gift. I ripped it open at work
this morning. Just couldn’t wait. Now how did you know I like beer
He he he!!! I got 6 different beers fron various parts of the world. Tomorrow night I will proceed to drink all of them and see if I fall down. Thanks again SS. Hope you get your heart’s desire
It’s apparent that DAVEW0071 knows me quite well!! I received my package today and opened it immediately, that is, as immediately as I could after threatening my spouse who insisted I should wait until Wednesday.
Chocolate!!! One bag of chocolate covered pretzels and one of chocolate covered toffee. As for your silly note that I might want to open them before entertaining, may I say HAH!! Them goodies are mine mine mine mine mine!! And I thank you ever so much. Both look yummy and it’s taking all my semi-adult self-control not to snarf it all down right now. I may let Steve and my Perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup] sample a crumb, or not…
THANK YOU!!! <doing the Secret Santa Happy Dance>
An added bonus - I see you sent the package via Priority Mail on the 16th, and it just got here today. I sent my package on its way the same day and the same way, so I’m no longer quite so fretful that it hasn’t arrived yet.
It was in a pretty gift box with Underwear Bear doing a Rocky thing on the library steps in Philadelphia, and in it were a variety of treasures:
A little bust of Benjamin Franklin
Two little scented candles (Mrs. Dave-Guy loves scented candles!)
A really neat keyring that lights up
A Philadelphia hackey-sack (fun! I don’t play, but I like it!)
A Philadelphia pen.
Neat stuff!
And as an extra added attraction, there was a second present with a card for my birthday! (TruePisces, did you have anything to do with that?) It’s a book, Ice Station, by Matt Reilly. An international suspense thriller? Hmmmmm…
rocking chair, I’ve been thinking the same thing about you. You’d think with only three Philly Dopers, we would have organized a get together long before now…
I thought you’d appreciate it, but I didn’t know you’d like it THAT much. Glad it got there, I addressed it to S.D. to make you feel just a little bit warmer.
By the way, both UncleBill’s and my presents have arrived, we’re just being good kids and waiting until Christmas to open them. (Normally, I’d have torn right into it, but since we’re not spending Xmas with either family, we wanted to have more prezzies to open on the day.)
Yes, it was a bonus present…a gift in appreciation of your work, for TWO YEARS IN A ROW in putting this whole thing together. I KNOW how much work goes into something like this, and I appreciate it…as, I’m sure, do the rest of the SS Dopers. Please consider it a gift from the whole board, for going above and beyond the call of Doper duty.
HAH! Take THAT, best friend!!! IMAGINARY friends inDEED!
First, I am SO glad that the basket was something you could use. And please take note…you said you wanted stuff from the area your SS came from…and everything I sent you was from the PNW…well, except for Arthur’s gift, which was just from ME to HIM.
I just KNOW these things. It’s a gift, honey. After all, I am “fey” and all…blame my ancestors.
And I didn’t even WRAP them…I am covered with shame. I thought he was a tad bit too young to care, so I just sent them naked. Sorry.
Honey, you just don’t know how much I appreciate the work you do on this SS thing. I would volunteer to do it myself, but you do SUCH a marvelous job that it is just better if YOU handle it. So, I wanted to thank you. Also, what with one thing and another, I end up with enough OTHER stuff to do this time of year that I couldn’t be assured that I would have the time.
I APPRECIATE YOU!!!
I also appreciate Billdo, who trusted me enough to send me your address…please give him “huggles” from me, okay? Furthermore, make him give you :huggles: from me. HUGGLES ALL AROUND!
I feel like a big dope! I know my person isn’t getting theirs before christmas!
It’s on it’s way I promise!
It just took a little longer to make than I thought.
I opened the present! (hope Kal hasn’t gone mental yet)
I have to say, Washte, that was the most well wrapped parcel ever.
Inside, pancake mix for real American pancakes (yum - I don’t get the chance to have real American pancakes very often, so this was an excellent present)
A big bottle of maple syrup to go on the pancakes (drool)
Waffles to go with any spare maple syrup (mmmm)
and two fizzy bath bombs (yay!)
Thank you very much missus Washte.
I hope my present reached you today. If not please accept my humble apologies for tardiness. Merry Christmas!
