In case my Santa-er is boggling at my not having got mine yet - the address you posted to is my parents’ place, around 2000 miles north - they haven’t mentioned any mystery packages, but then, I haven’t asked. I like surprises too much!
I’m heading up on Thursday night. Yay for a big family Christmas! Imagine me up to the eyebrows in mangoes!
Ah, thank you melondeca, and Merry Christmas! It’s one weird book, but very cool! Lots of weird old legends and tales that I’ve never even heard of before. I may have to start a thread based just on some of those entries!
You’re welcome! But I’m very sorry that one of the candles died. When one of mine broke, I decanted it into a new jar very easily. If you have a coffee maker just sit the broken jar in an oven-safe bowl. Like a Pyrex measuring cup. And just let the coffee maker base slowly melt the wax. It won’t overheat but it will take a few hours. Then I just held the wick up in the new jar as I poured the wax in. It’s very soft wax so be careful. But that’s it!
And what else says Christmas in Alabama like boiled peanuts?! I wouldn’t eat them cause I think they’re nasty, but hey! Live like you wanna live. Merry Christmas!
You are quite welcome, tdn. I thought you might enjoy that book because in your profile I saw that you mention an interest in urban legends. The weirdus.com site is also kind of neat.
DeVena, thank you again for everything. I don’t have a coffee pot but I have a condle warming plate so I might try that today. Thanks for the idea.
Okay! My gift is FINALLY in the mail. 'Tis the season to have too much to do! The UPS guy said it should get there on Wednesday. I won’t say where it’s going, except that it rhymes with “Fish again.”
I received a wonderful pair of hand-beaded earrings from freckafree. They’re perfect! Thank you so much. Funky, red and purple, and definitely me.
I finally found the rest of my package for my giftee. I haven’t decided if it’s going UPS or USPS Priority. I have the rest of the day to make up my mind.
I’ll enjoy it alright. I haven’t had much of a chance to look at it yet, but besides things like the Jersey Devil and the Mutter Museum, it mentioned the Creationist Museum. “This proves that evolutionis false. Or so say the curators of the museum.” It seems like claims are presented with no opinion as to authenticity. So I can do my own fact checking!
Also seems like a fantastic source for FRPG ideas!
I went to the Brooklandville Post Office today and mailed my Secret Santa present. The Post Office lady told me it should arrive at its destination in a week. Hopefully it will get to my Secret Santa person by Christmas Eve. If not, then probably the day after Christmas.
I got my Secret Santa gift on Saturday! I haven’t opened it yet as I am sufficiently uptight that I will save it until Christmas to open. Thank you in advance, Secret Santa vivalostwages! I’ll post again when I open your gift.
Woo and hoo!! Mine arrived today!! <insert happy dance here>
Thank you ever so much, gfloyd!! I have to say that the Lindt snowmen may cause a rift between and my daughter, if she dares to again suggest that I should share them with her!
And I am the proud owner of a print of The Black Dog Tavern, including a sailboat in the background. What is especially cool is that the blue of the mat is almost the exact shade we intend to paint our guest room which is going to be decorated in a nautical theme, so this will fit right in!
Thank you so much - I really do like it! Plus the chocolate is just a bonus!
Wow, my Santee did their homework (which included searcing through old threads I’ve posted!). I realized I hadn’t put anything on my ‘list’, but my Santee managed to figure out my hair was curley and put in some cool styling products (and not the cheap stuff either!). I also got a beautiful angel (a small wooden one, not a real one) and popcorn balls (ohhh…I LOVE popcorn balls!!!), candy canes and a whole bag of cookies!
There’s also a rather odd round ring in the box (wrapped in a plastic sleeve). I think it’s one of those new fangled contraceptive rings, so I’ll be inserting it and giving it a go tonight. (Just kidding–it looks far too historically important to bar sperm.)
I’d like to thank my Secret Santa, but he/she didn’t include a name. :dubious: Thank you Unnamed Secret Santa!
