I was in the ER for the second time over the holiday weekend – first time was likely unrelated to my eventual diagnosis of a prostate infection – and could hear a patient being treated in the exam bay behind mine.
Keeping my thoughts together is still a bit difficult.
So, there’s me and this other patient whose first language is obviously Spanish, given that ER staff asked if he wanted a translator, in separate ER bays which share a back wall. ER staff was going through the intake questionnaire and got down to “Are you vaccinated for COVID?” I didn’t quite catch the answer but it was obviously in the negative, given the staff’s incredulous “Why not? Religion? Doctor said not to? What?” I didn’t hear much else.
