Home, having survived day 3 as boss. Today’s 90-minute meeting wrapped up in 15 minutes, so yay for that.
Some 3-star admiral will be visiting tomorrow, and rumor has it he’ll be stopping into our office because our people have been front and center with some projects lately. I doubt that I’ll be there, which is fine. I don’t do well with high-ranking types. I can’t play the “Sir” game.
Weather is gorgeous. I mowed the back yard, half of the side, and half of the front. The house is open. Life is good.
Thanks for all the good vibes! Dad’s surgery was a breeze. He’s looking forward to his pupil dilation to subside, so he can see what it will like to see! I’m making chicken and dumplings for him because that’s what he asked for.
Good luck with the admiral tomorrow, FCM. That doesn’t sound like fun.
Thanks for the recommendations on an LG washer. I think KT wants to stay away from front loaders in general because our laundry room (an alcove really) is on the second floor, and he thinks that may be part of the problem, that the floor has too much give and contributes to the washer vibrating too much and thinking it can’t spin. And I don’t really want another $500 experiment in a washer that won’t spin, so we’re sticking with a conventional washer.
I finally feel like maybe I’m on the mend. I only had a few hours of inability to breathe today. That’s a marked improvement over yesterday.
taxi, we have a front loader in our second floor laundry room. However, we did not buy the stands at the recommendation of the salesman. He said the stands tended to “walk” on second floors and the machines became unbalanced.
Well, they made their decision quickly! I didn’t get the job interviewed I for, but I’m still waiting to see if I’ll be called for an interview on the second one. I kind of doubt it, but we’ll see what shakes out.
Hope all the Lissars made it through the day unscathed.
Sorry you didn’t get the job, Taters. Any chance of getting feedback from the people who interviewed you?
Tonight’s dinner is 2 small yukon gold potatoes, two carrots chopped, and a small serving of baby peas. All of them nuked separately and then lightly buttered, salted and peppered. Yum.
Thanks guys, but I’m not really too upset about it. I’m not worried about feedback either. I look at it this way; well really two ways: it was good practice and it just wasn’t the job for me. As I said, I wasn’t exactly feeling good about it when one of the interviewers didn’t even realize which job I was interviewing for.
Bottom line, it’s well known the majority of people are not happy at that organization, so it’s probably a good thing overall. Besides, I’ve still got a paycheck, so it’s not like it’s going to make or break me.
I’m glad your Dad’s surgery went well, rebo.
Good luck with Admiral’s visit tomorrow, **FCM. ** Like you, I’m not a big fan of bigwig visits.
I have a three day weekend. Plans are to get some stuff done around here, but the weather is its usual craptastic self. It actually snowed up north today.
eta - off to try to sleep now - long-ish drive in the a of m (4+ hours - add an hour or so for “getting out of metro NYC traffic”) This will be my first time at one of these gigs - I’m really looking forward to it. I will try to remember tales to tell you next week (otherwise it’s going o be a very tiny OP)
Enjoy your weekend
I might pop in before hitting the road, or I might not.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 84. A lurvely Spring day! It looks like rain tonight and in the mornin’ which is good too. Thus endeth the south Jawja weather report.
Rosie have a wunnerful and safe trip! Oh and GMTA. The first nickname I thought of was CatMan.
Congrats on the name change CatMan. I could also call you CatDude.
Nava would you really want to know why someone would have a family crest that featured poo flingin’ monkeys?
Ok, time for more caffiene and some brekkies for rumbly tummy. Then I must irk purtify.
Morning all! Up and caffeinating, getting ready for work. I haven’t eaten yet, so my tummy is still rumbly.
Rosie, sorry you didn’t sleep well last night, have a safe journey and hopefully a good time this weekend! Sorry about the job, Taters, but good luck on the next interview. Good news on Dad’s surgery, Rebo! And I -love- CatMan!
Okay, that’s all I got - must be that rumbly tummy holding me back. Blurf! oh yes…
I’m jealous of your rain, Swampy. It rained this morning. All of 1/10th of an inch. But it should be cool in the morning, and this weekend will be awesome.
We also didn’t sleep. Gnat keeps waking up and howling because he’s too sad to sleep. We’re all dead today. Trying to decide what to do to keep the kidlets occupied and me not killing them today. I feel like we’re back in the newborn stage. I got maybe 45 minutes of sleep at a time all last night.
Cold and sunny here. Cold and rainy on the weekend. Boo.
Yay! I have shiny new passports for me and 'im indoors so we will be off to visit our friends in Hungary next week!
I have barely been in to read the MMP this week which makes me a very bad Mumper but I did remember to stock up on TP yesterday when I went shopping so I hope that is a small move towards redemption.
