Afternoon, mumpers!
I have been proper productive today. Got up early and went to get the car (got home too late to pick it up last night), came back and vacuumed the floors then cleaned the kitchen after someone had a rather spectacular incident with a tin of meatballs and tomato sauce…this particular bit of cleaning involved a step-ladder…then went into town to do errands. Came home for lunch, went grocery shopping, came home and changed bedding which is now washed and hanging out to dry.
Next big thing will be the dreaded half-hour workout followed by an equal amount of time lying in a heap on the floor recovering. Tonight I will be having fish for dinner (cats will be pleased!) along with a concoction involving spinach, broad beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms. I also have a large aubergine and a load of beetroot that I need to do something with - roasting and freezing comes to mind.
Busy, busy, busy!
Up, caffienated. I’m gonna [del]pour boiling oil and lava on[/del]bathe Gordie today. I’m also gonna buy him a cone, since he’s in OCD chewing his hindquaters off mode again.
Do you have any racoons that annoy you?
Glad you made it home safe, 2gig.
Dinner sounds good, Boofae.
Towels are on the line. Jammage is just about done - 2 more minutes in the boiling water, then the jars come out. I think I’ll make a cake next.
Seven beeyooteeful jars of peach jam are cooling on the counter. Time to begin cakeage!
Happy Saturday!
and a BIG BLURF!
The dog woke me and I had trouble getting back to sleep. Now I’m waiting for everybody to get out of here so I can get load of laundry in. The HFH are gone but I don’t know for how long, they left separately so who knows.
I need clean clothes. I agreed to let hell pup out today at 3. Her big sis did get put down 2 weeks ago, poor old lady could hardly walk. She did pretty good though, for a landseer to make it to 13 is OLD.
I have in invite to go to my uncles cookout, mom will be mad at me if I don’t go. Another friend just sent me an invite to come up to her house. I’m too fuzzy to figure it all out right now. Laundry first and then figure it out.
I’m still checking out WV **FCM **. Harpers Ferry is almost nothing in my price range, Falling Waters is an option, I’m not sure about Charlestown. Hedgesville is out, I hear it is really bad (including from two realtors who flat out told me I don’t want to live there - even though they aren’t allowed to say that) and Martinsburg isn’t much better.
Before Sah-son can get a good job he has to get his license, which he is dragging his feet.
I’m glad you are back safe **2gig **
You make me tired just reading about it.
I don’t understand kids today who don’t want to drive. I know of several… When I was 16 I couldn’t get my license fast enough.
**Butters **- you and me both! I didn’t get my license till I was 17 because the rule was I had to be able to pay my own share of insurance, and I didn’t get a job till the summer after I turned 16. Now, I’d rather have someone else drive me around, but that’s not always an option. Oh well…
The cake is in the oven, the dishwasher has been emptied, then refilled with jam-and-cake-making dirties. The jam is just about set, which is good. I had to turn it over a couple of times to keep the fruit bits dispersed thru the jars, but it’s thickening, so they’re no longer rising. Yay!
The cake is from a butter pecan mix (yes I use box mixes, but I do ungawdly things to them so they don’t taste like box cakes) and it’ll have vanilla frosting with pecans on it. I predict yum.
What to do now??
Gordie has had [del]boiling oil and lava poured on him[/del]a bath. Now I need to take a shower and wash the dog hair off me. Laundry next!
Butters, I couldn’t wait to get my license. Dad on the other hand…
I couldn’t wait to get my license, and my mother couldn’t get me to the MVA fast enough either. She wanted me to do all the driving so she didn’t have to.
I don’t understand Sah-son, but I know he is far from the only teen like it. One of my friends had a terrible time getting her son to drive, and my other friends grandson has no desire to drive either. I think the problem is that home is too comfortable and they don’t want to leave. As well as there is so much entertainment available at home they don’t need to leave.
I have other friends who don’t want their kids to drive and those kids are begging to get a license. It’s not so much they don’t want their kids to drive as that the kids are getting D’s in school and if they aren’t responsible enough to get good grades then they aren’t responsible enough to drive.
Like I said before, these kids think I am the cool mom but they wouldn’t think so if they had to live with me.
So Sah-son and I have the house to ourselves for now. I got my laundry in, I just made it one big load instead of two small ones. I need to wash out my bras, I always do them by hand but I hate hanging them over the shower rod to dry.
We’ve got the windows open and the fan on, it is a beautiful day. I may swing by my uncles house after I let hell pup out. I don’t know, I really want to see everybody but physically I’m uncomfortable.
Glad you made it back ok, 2gig.
Butters, I was another who couldn’t wait to get a license. For a rural kid in the 70s, it meant you could do something outside of your immediate neighborhood.
The squirt gun parade went ok, but it being an election year, was heavy with candidates. We watched the fireworks from my deck and actually got to see most of them (trees got in the way of the low ones). Getting ready to hit the farmer’s market and grocery stores for the week’s supplies.
I need to get a new 9X13 pan. Preferably not a dark one. Time to do some shopping, I suppose.
Lunch was leftover ravioli. **FCD **is going to Lowe’s for some stuff he needs so he can finish painting. His gas tank is just about done, fenders are next. I may just assume the knit position. I was too productive this morning and now I’m tired. I should probably put clean towels in the bathroom, tho. And in an hour or so, I should be able to bring the clean towels in. Heck, I can probably do that now. Maybe I will, maybe not. I’m mysterious like that.
Two weeks till my sister’s big party at my mom’s house. Anyone wanna go? It’s north of Baltimore in Harford county. Swimming pool, lots of food, and games with *fabulous *prizes (I’ve seen some of them - heck, I’ve made some of them.) I just need to give her a body count, so PM me if you’re planning to be bored on the 19th.
Please tell me there is video of this. If not, will you do it again, this time w/ the video camera rolling?
I’d lend you one of my chauffeurs, but when the proletariat gets a taste of the good life, they sometimes get uppity & then turn rebellious. I can, however, offer you some cake to eat if your hungry & don’t have any bread. :o
Howdy Y’all! I’m all showered and clean after spendin’ time out at the cee-mint pond. Others are still out there but I decided I’d had enough. Leftovers from yestiddy for dindin. Truth be told I don’t want any dindin. I have not been really hongry all day. Tomorrow is brunch Sunday over to the church house. I have not made anything and don’t feel like makin’ anything so I’m thinkin’ we’ll just deheathenate and leave.
I foresee an early bedtime tonight. I’s feelin’ tahrd today.
gigity glad you made it back safe and sound.
MOOOOOOM ain’t nuttin’ wrong with a cake mix. Like you said it’s what you do with 'em that counts.
The day I turned sixteen it was stormy so I had to wait a whole day to get my license. Thought I was gonna die!
Supper will be chickie strips, carrots, fresh 'maters, and crescent rolls. Cake for dessert. Sounds like a plan to me!
But you said that you don’t wear pajamas.
>Blush<
Home from letting hell pup out, except she wouldn’t go out.
It’s time to get to irk. I’ve been piddling around long enough. Getting a lot of little things done.
I bit my tongue earlier today and I think I should have just spit it out.
Sah-son does everything he can to avoid my mother’s bf. So my mother’s bf was saying today that my son never talks with him and I so wanted to say that maybe if he talked to him instead of at him Sah-son might be more receptive to what he has to say.
Everyone has gone to wherever it is when the left here. I lurve my friends, but, YAY! Nice to have the place to ourselves tonight.
MOG invitated us out to N.O.L. tomorrow at the local good seafood place. YAY! She said she wants to do this to show us that she appreciates the fact that we are her bestest friends and let her come hang out at the cee-mint pond all the time. So we shall all deheathenate and then munch on seafood. Sounds like a plan to me!
It’s been a hell of a day. Early start for breffest and the hamfest (a combination convention and flea market, and I did not find a radio I wanted). Ran into some people I know and met a few new ones, and I won a door prize! (it’s a telescoping antenna that doesn’t fit the radio I have.) It was a fun and worthwhile morning.
After, I stopped at Petsmart to spend some time with the current batch of kittens. They’re all bright-eyed, active, and ignored me from the time I walked into the little room until I left. There are a couple or three possibilities, a ginger male who is a bit of a dingdong, a grey male who is very calm and who purred when I picked him up and gave him scritches, and the only female in the litter, who is grey and white.
After lunch, I came home, changed my clothes, and napped on the couch for a couple of hours. I really needed the sleep.
Supper was very num! Except for the cake - we haven’t had that yet. Anticipation…
