That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

Ah, drat, I’m super-hungry, but too sucked into my book to get food, plus my warm kitty is purring on my lab. I reaaaaallly miss the momos from the Tibetan place in Bloomington that used to be called Norbu Café; they are about the only restaurant food I miss from grad school! (Momos are a kind of steamed bread dumpling; IIRC they come in both meat and veggie versions.)

Do they deliver? Anyone wanna run out and pick some up? Extra bonus if you get the chef to divulge the recipe so us homesick former Bloomingtonians can make them elsewhere! Dumplings of any kind are the best comfort food!

Todd, thanks for the footrub!

:Wraps arms around Tygr, and gives him all the strength and comfort he needs.:

It’s all right. We’ve got a bit of respite to spare here.

CJ

P.S. I’ve lost track of the comings and goings; aren’t there about 6 people in the bathtub right now? Nobody seems to have emerged! Wonder what’s going on in there…

WHEEEEEEEE !!!

<splashing Eva with bubbles as she peeks in the door>

Now, where’s a towel ?? I must give poor Tygr a hug. Oopss !! sorry for dripping !!!

Oy, Tygr, sounds like a rough period going on for you and yours… Todd brews another carafe of English Toffee tea and hands it over to Tygr and family, with extra cookies Welcome back. I was hoping you were doing alright…we’ll do what we can to help make it alright. {{{Tygr}}}

Eva, is this the place on 4th Street in Bloomington, like maybe half a block from the university? I love their momos! picks up a virtual couple of orders from the establishment, whose new name Todd can’t recall right now, to deliver unto Eva, assuming we’re all talking about the same Bloomington…

cj, glad to oblige. Hoping it helped your neck in some small way, and helped you curb any nausea so you can jump into the momos with the rest of us…

Todd checks on Kricket in the tub, hands the ever-poetic NinetyWt a big fluffy towel, then returns to continue duties with salt scrub for the next person in need

Would somebody please braid my hair whilst I sit here colouring?

Needing a bit of tlc today.

Yep, that’s the one! I stumbled in there during grad school orientation, and it was love at first bite!

If anyone else wants some, you’d better pick up more than a couple of orders. 'S’okay, my treat.

hugs Todd thanks so much. At the end of this thread(perish the thought) you’re going home with a batch of brownies.

sits behind washte and starts in on the hair, giving a good scalp massage before brushing through and starting the braiding

Oh Lynne, you beat me to Washte’s hair. Here’s a whole bucket of what my daughter calls “hair pretties” to put at the end of her braids.

Anyone up for watching A Knight’s Tale?

I’m back with the liquor. Sorry it took so long; it’s been a hairy few days.

I’ll take some French toast, and did someone mention backrubs?

Robin

MsRobyn, I mentioned a backrub, I’ll give you one if you’d like. But not till I’m done with the hair.

takes the hair pretties from ivylass Thanks. Sounds like your daughter’s a cutie! A Knight’s tale sounds great.

Anyone wanna get those brownies, though? Sounds like they’re done.

Thank you Todd and Bodypoet for checking in on me. I really needed that soak. And I just went out and spent six dollars on some new conditioner for bad dry hair. Never spent that much on anything for my hair before, but darned if this stuff didn’t make my hair feel soft again!

cj congrats on the new job. Good luck in your new venture.

Tygr, I am sorry to hear that you guys are having a bad bout right now. I just attended a funneral Saturday. It was a friends
mom that I had met a few times and went for support of my husband and our friend whom he grew up with.
It was a beautiful service. I have never seen a minister get choked up at a funneral before. His mom was a wonder.

My migraine is still lingering but I have one more shot I can take before I have to call the doctor. The storm finally came to Iowa so it should take care of itself.

This is a beautiful and caring thread. I hope it’s around for a while.

I just made a big batch of hot cocoa mix so everybody help themselves. A bit of a warning though, I used french vanilla coffemate instead of plain for those who might not like french vanilla.

::sighs with delight::

I just love having my hair fiddled with. It’s soooo relaxing.

The brownies should be cool enough to tuck into.

There’s fixins for cabbage patch stew with homemade tortillas and Suzi’s Hawaiian chicken for later. Both are scrummy.

::goes back to colouring the horses blue and purple::

Hey everybody…

IRL, I had to attend a concert for the radio station last night (Coldplay in Indianapolis), so today I sound like one of Marge Simpson’s sisters. Don’t let my no-longer mellifluous voice scare the bejeebers out of you today…

Washte, I love the alternate universe coloring job!

Kricket, my beloved grandma also used to make instant cocoa the same way. I haven’t had it in about seven years…thank you for bringing back a lovely memory.

MsRobyn, thank you for coming back to our little circle, armed with liquor, no less! Hoping all is well in spite of the hairy days…oh, and I’ve got your back (literally…HA, I kill me sometimes!), so Lynne_kilii can keep right on doing what she’s doing.

Lynne, in a thread full of sweethearts, you’re a sweetheart’s sweetheart! I plan to see this thread going for a long, long time…

I’ll pick up a few of each type of momo, Eva Luna…I had a hard time deciding between the veggie and the meat, because they’re so good.

My friends, I raise a glass…erm…make that bottle…to each of you in salute. I truly enjoy your company! raising new Bushmill’s and drinking to my comrades in comfort

Found another lyric that seems to fit here somehow, one from a song that Anne Murray did on the Love Song album and Emmylou Harris did on a b-side in the early '80s. I add this link with fond thoughts of you all:

This is what I’ve been having trouble remembering over the past few days:

Copper_moon, I’m sorry I never got back to you on this. Count me in. It’s not gonna be bad out over the next week, and I would consider you delightful company. Thanks for a most excellent, and comforting, idea!

Whew! Between running errands and trying to sleep a bit, I missed out! Good to see you all!

Let’s see…
[checks up on CJ’s recovery]
[notes all the new, good food and liquor, thanks to all]
[pointedly does not notice how many times, precisely, Todd managed to check on Kricket whilst she was tubbing]
[checks out A Night’s Tale]

Busy, busy!

Tygr, what a time you’re having. Come on over here by the fire and look at this book of Time Life pictures I found…it’s all the funny, happy ones from over the years. My kids have just about worn it out, but it will still give you a chance to smile a bit, and that will help you through another day. I’m so glad you’re still here.

Todd, here–have some honey lemon tea. Or maybe this is tension tamer tea, I’m not sure. At any rate, it has honey to help sooooooothe your voice. And if you need a little nap after your late night, here’s a nice soft quilt I’ve had for years. Don’t mind the worn spots, those are there to make it more comfy. And if you want, you and CopperMoon can take it out on the roof while you stargaze.

Mmmmm, Washte! Cabbage patch soup! I don’t know what’s in it, but it sounds good!

I’m all for keeping our comfort party going for a good long while…it looks like we have plenty of cohosts who can answer the door and pass out goodies if need be. Who knows, we may even decide to paint the house or plant a garden or something!

[settles contentedly in soft cooshy chair]

Hey, bodypoet, it’s good to see you! You’ve been missed, as you’re the goddess of our feast and all…

Thanks for the tea and the use of the quilt. I am SO into keeping this going for a good long while. The thread itself is like the well-worn quilt itself, homey and lovely and a joy to have wrapped around you.

Three, I think. Non-lingering. I had way too many footrubs to dispense…which reminds me: another for you, our favorite deliverer of the morning’s news? And what oil would you prefer in your salt scrub?

Hey, my voice feels better already!

todd: I’d love one. No, wait. I NEED one. And thanks for the tea. It has caffeine, right? I also need caffeine.

::sigh::

lovelyluka, done and done. I’m going to use a little teatree oil in your salt scrub to give you that pleasant tingle…unless you’d prefer eucalyptus or something else.

Mmm…let’s see…caffeine. Morning Thunder okay, or something a little more straightforward in the tea department? Or if you like, some really good coffee with some of Kricket’s cocoa mix stirred in. The aroma can fill the room that way.

Have you also got a headache, perhaps, or are you just feeling blah? I’m also good at temple rubs, if you need one (just ask our midday jock, Laura).

This thread is becoming a daily breath of fresh air for me. Thanks once again to all of you with the kind words/thoughts/hugs/comfort.

Heh. Well. I WAS going to tell my wife about this thread. But if NinetyWt is gonna be hopping willy-nilly outta the tub and distributing wet hugs clad only in a towel… maybe I’ll wait a little while longer.

Here, NinetyWt [sub](are you really that viscous?)[/sub] — here’s an oversize fluffy terrycloth robe, fresh from the dryer… just to help keep your willy-nilly covered. I don’t see this thread as being about that kind of comfort… ;)[sup]—Not that it’s not appreciated…![/sup]
