That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

Oh, I’m so glad you are all still here. It’s been a rough couple of days with the moved-out-husband, y’know. I’m in need of a li’l comfort at the moment.

[sleepy hugs all around]Mornin’. Hi, hon. Mornin’. Good to seeya. {{smooooch}} Hiya.

Oh my. I believe I’ll just sit around for a bit and soak up the comfort, if y’all don’t mind…

Maybe later we can make soap! Soaping always makes a body feel better.

Todd looks outside at the grey, cold day and adds more logs to the fire, then scoots another recliner over close to the fire for bodypoet

What’s your beverage of choice…chocolate, tea, hot cider, mulled wine? I’ll go get it…

Oh, and what kind of soap do you want to make? I’m in!

I think…hot chocolate, with some of that Frangelico in it. And maybe a little extra vanilla creamer, and one of those Hershey kisses that are all over the place. That should do nicely, I think.

Soapwise…hmmm. Honey oatmeal with powdered goatmilk is very soothing. Maybe a batch of that, and then another batch of something with bright bright colors and a nice fresh fragrance? Hmmm…we’re going to need to dig out the rubber gloves and the stainless steel pot.

Let’s just sit here and think about it, while we roast these marshmallows and nibble on all the goodies that CJ and Lynne bought.

Who’s doing footrubs? My foot is cramping from all those papers this morning. My, how I hate Sunday mornings.

Oh, Todd, maybe…if you don’t mind getting up just one more time…a little scoop of that nice ice cream? With a bit of chocolate fudge topping and whipped cream and…hmmm…I know someone brought some chocolate sprinkles.
There’s a dear. Thank you.

You’re welcome…oh, and some miniature chocolate chips on the side, to sprinkle in if you want them.

I was hoping you’d say oatmeal would be an ingredient. That’s some of my favorite soap.

I’m on footrub detail for anyone wanting one. While I was in the kitchen, I grabbed some kosher salt and mixed in a little lavender oil and a little eucalyptus oil. This should work like a charm…

Who’s in? cracks knuckles

Me ! meeee !

*ooouiiooouuu tingly circle smooth let go ssssswwoosh giggle owwwwieeee *

Dang, ** Todd ** you are good at that !!! Now let’s clean up Karol’s kitchen for her.

Anyone for a late breakfast of French toast? I make it with challah, eggs, whole milk (or half-and-half, if there’s any around) cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, the wonderful aromatic vanilla extract my friend brought back from Mexico, and REAL maple syrup. None of this fake stuff!

It goes wonderfully with hot chocolate (put it in the blender, and it gets all nice and foamy) or some of that yummy hazelnut coffee, oif there’s any left from earlier. Plus nothing is more decadent and lazy than French toast for dinner! Here, have a piece…

Eva Luna, that French toast sounds delicious. Pass some over here. Given a choice, I make mine with Hawaiian bread, but I never though of adding cinnamon or vanilla.

That French toast sounds fantastic - I’ll queue for that. Also I’ll second the simpsons marathon, or failing that, some god old Disney movies. (Aladdin, The Lion King. You know, the good ones).

Ta for the loan of cats & fire - I’m all snuggly warm and happy. This is a great feelgood thread - thanks all!

For anyone wanting a more substantial brekkie, I do a mean full English brekkie - eggs, back bacon, sausage, fried tomatoes, fried mushrooms, beans, black pudding, hashbrowns, fried bread, white pudding (imported from Ireland), and toast. Or your choice from any of the above.

All washed down with a big cup of Yorkshire tea - plenty of milk and sugar.

Then we can all kick back and let brekkie digest

That full English breakfast rocked, Washte, as did Eva Luna’s French toast…oh, that was lovely.

More poetry? Sigh…

I suspect you did that on purpose. Todd grins, being a sucker for poetry ‘n’ all

Anybody need anything while we’re in here? scampers after NinetyWt to help clean up the kitchen

Whips up brownies and goodies in the kitchen, including an industrial size mug of hot apple cider for moi
Here’s a brownie for you, in a bowl, add your own ice cream and such, Todd. holds the bowl back for a moment trade ya for a foot rub!

Oh good, I was hoping this was still going on. My neck still hurts, and I’m just getting over a nasty stomach bug, so I’ll stay away from the food if you don’t mind, but I could do to curl up with a good book, a nice soft blanket, and an even softer cat or dog.

I’ll trade a back rub later for a foot rub now.

CJ

I really need some help tonight.
Left for work on Friday and basically got out of work this morning and with a killer migraine to boot.
I need a nice warm bubble bath in the soft glow of candle light and some quiet for a while so the meds can work.
But then someone has to come and get me out of the tub after the meds start working. And if I could get someone to peek in every once in a while to make sure I haven’t sunk below water level.

Oh, and I finally got a little further into my book. Maybe I’ll take that in the bath with me as well.

[checks to make sure Kricket is still safely reading in the tub]
[adds a bit more hot water and a dash of bubbles as a special touch]

You guys like poetry? I gots poetry! In fact, lemme dig out my copy of A Linen Weave of Bloomington Poets, featuring yours truly. I think I have some nice soothing poems in here. Hmmm…

Here, someone rub my back just a bit while I look. I banged my leg up again this morning–every time I fall I hit the same place on my shin. And each time I slip, all the energy goes riiiight…here, between my scapula and spine.

[notices Todd still has salt scrub ingredients]
Oooh, Todd! That looks comforting–are you still up to doing foot rubs?

Extra brownies for CJ… She just got a job!!

YAY CJ!!

First of all, congrats, cj! That is comforting news, indeed. No need to trade a backrub for a footrub; this one’s on me.

Wow, I step out of the thread for a few minutes and I turn into the Prom Queen…

Todd mixes up more salt scrub in the kitchen, then comes back into the room, making the rounds of fellow Dopers in need of TLC for their arches

I’ll take 'em on in order of request:

Lynne_kilii, let me set this brownie aside for a minute; I’ll work on your feet first. Plenty of time for brownies later. applys salt scrub with extra thumb pressure under the ball of each foot

(You know what I especially love about this thread? The distortion of time that allows me to work on each of you for about a half-hour without feeling neglected. And thank you each for the good grace of allowing me to periodically check on Kricket in the tub…)

cj, lending you my copy of The Mistress Of Spices if you haven’t read it already. Now, I’m going to be as delicate as I can in light of your current state, but tell me if this is too intense; I’ll modify as needed. And congrats again!

Bodypoet, this is quite possibly my favorite thread ever, with some of my favorite folks in it, and all because you built it and they came. I’m always up to doing a foot rub for you, just for that. I would be delighted to hear your voice reading your work from A Linen Weave. Soon as I finish your feet, I’ll see what I can do about your back for you.

This place is very homey and very wonderful. Kudos to one and all for making this as special as it is. In a world where Mr. Rogers is no longer with us, this gives me the same kind of comfort, and I thank you, collectively and individually, for helping bodypoet make it happen. You’re nice people, you are!

Can I come in? Tomorrow I have exams in Organic Chemistry and Human Anatomy & Physiology. I’m going to cry.

Just wanted to share.

lovelyluka, welcome…

Todd hands lovelyluka the tissue box and a cup of English Toffee tea

It’s a pleasure to have you with us! Brownie?

sigh Thanks to God and all of you that this thread is still going.

For again it appears I have need of a place to receive some comfort so I can fortify myself for doing my own comforting…

Word came this morning that a good close friend of my wife’s family, my late father-in-law’s dearest friend, just passed away very suddenly.

My wife has great affection for him and his family, and she is quite upset that we never had the ability to make the trip so I could meet them.

Bother.

I’m just not used to people dying…
