The Bloomin' MMP

Stoopit traffic last night; it took me over an hour to get home, which make me late for Run Club. The ironic part is I literally could have run home faster & would have made it on time, but then having already run, I wouldn’t have needed to go there to run so I could have been late. :smack:
It was the club’s 4th anniversary; we had about 60 last night, which is a normal crowd.

Frankly my [del]dear[/del] nemesis, I don’t give a damn.
As of right now, I’m up to Plan D for the weekend. :frowning: Stoopit rain.

Morning all. Heading to 90F today, so I probably will turn on the AC sometime today, because once it’s started, it probably won’t come off until October.

Had fun with girls soccer practice, they actually listened for once, so hope things will go well Saturday. Treated myself to Logan’s Meatloaf dinner as a reward.

FCM, that was how it was for me. I had planned to work until 65, but figured out my finances were such that I could retire at 63 and be ok and…I was just ready to go. Never looked back. Hope it works out for you, too.

Spidey, go back and ask for pictures showing a time 4 minutes faster…

Sunny, sounds like an active (and hopefully beneficial) day in Cali-fornia.

And that’s about it. BLT’s on Rye in a short while.

That is my plan, but I have to figure out how to have health insurance for two years until I am eligible for Medicare.

I am proud to announce that mowage has been accomplished. Go Me! I feel as if I have insured (assured?) that it will not rain next week.

Except yours would involve gold lamé instead of horse heads?

Wait a few years until he loads her up on sugar ------------ just before he drops her off back at home.

I did that with my nephews and niece; a lot.

Looking at the weather predictions and considering the planting. It isn’t like the old days at the farm but its adulting.

Talking to some AMZholes I like and have worked with about the soon-to-be new building and operation and my own personal Operation-Jump-Ship. The FNsitelead isn’t working out bad but options have to be considered.

Looking at hours and thinking what I need to do at irk today. This 30 hour cap is actually great for a workaholic like me; forces me to relax.

Tomorrow a bike club I know is running an annual bingo (free) at a Veteran’s Home and I will be the caller. Its one thing that I will not miss for anything short of Knoebels.

Afternoon all.

The weather has gone yuck again over 'ere, which is not unexpected. It’s supposed to improve soon, but it’s really impressively yuck right now.

I’m trying to decide what I should focus on over summer- I’ll be getting a day or two a week with my current place, which I’m gonna stick with. I could almost certainly get more paid irk doing waitressing or bar irk or something traditionally studenty to top that up but I don’t actually need to make more money really. Would it be better to try and get volunteer irk doing what I’m interested in?

I don’t think I can find paid irk doing what I’d like to, but that’s 'cos I don’t have experience… Plus there’s not many options around here, and I can’t go elsewhere 'cos I’m keeping the current job. Hmmmm.

Volunteer stuff is good but if they have a branch near you consider working at Da Jungle. I am dead serious. With the new flex you can pick as few as 4 3-5 hour shifts a week and as long as you are willing to give up at least one weekend day you are pretty much a shoe-in. You will meet a lot of people from backgrounds and experiences that you would normally not cross paths with and you will see things you will not believe. I still stay in touch with a fair number of co-workers who came in intentional short-timers like you would be and while most aren’t looking to do it again most are really happy they did.

Today is payday and I just found out that I got a raise - about 3.7%!

I’ve not had a review the entire time I’ve been here, but I’ve gotten raises on my anniversary dates - well, after the dates, but retroactive pay to catch me up. Almost makes me sad to be leaving.

Altho with all the crap I’ve been dealing with today (software, not people) I’m wishing I had already retired.

Had a decent cheese pizza from a newish parlor…and I’ll probably still be eating it for the next day or so, because it was 26 inches. My Beloved loved it because she could fold the slices “New York style”(whatever that means). The only inconvenient part was that they don’t deliver if the pizza is that big, so I had to go pick it up. I got it to the car and realized it would neither fit through the door or in the back seat, so I folded the passenger front seat down, tipped the box 45 degrees to get it in, and drove it home.

There’s a diner near us that makes a 30" pizza. We’ve seen it when, for example, a little league team descends on the place after a game. They cut it into a bunch of squares - a 15" long slice would be a bit much to handle, methinks.

Nah, not for me, thanks!

There wouldn’t be a depot near here anyway, but I’ve already got a seriously eclectic selection of work experience; I’ve done post office sorting as a Christmas temp, and that was enough to know I hate warehouse work.

I want variety, preferably at least partly outside, and I loathe working places where there are loads of rules.

OK — just because this is the Dope and someone is required under our Terms of Use to say it …

hookers and blow maybe?

Don’t worry about it, in two years there won’t be any Medicare.

This isn’t really related, but I just got a text from my pharmacy telling me that my Atorvastatin, which I don’t recall ever paying for before, is now going to cost me $194.68, or a little over $2 a pill.

I am in a bad mood.

Other than that, happy firday!

**Bumba **- isn’t that generic Lipitor? You can do better - I get a 90 day supply for a copay of less than $5. Your pharmacy is messing with you…

Rat, iffn I’m gonna get finish line pics w/o me in them, shouldn’t I get them 9 mins faster instead of 4 minutes faster so it looks like I (didn’t?) finished with a faster time. :dubious:

Did you not read where she’d not qualified?
My fiend forwarded me a sale email from a place that she’s bought from before (IOW, a reputable site) because they had something similar to what I was looking at. In looking at it in detail, the specs on their website seem to be better than on both a different website & the manufacturers website, if true, it’s a very good deal. I call them up & try to find out if they have what they’ve listed (possibly an older model?) or if it’s a typo. She confirms it’s a typo, which means I don’t want the item & she seemed pissed that I bothered to call them & didn’t want the product that wasn’t what they advertised. :smack:
I’d bet that she’s not going to pass it on to the correct person to update their website, either.
Okay, Plan [whatever letter we’re up to now] has me going to a [del]house[/del] apartment warming party tomorrow night. Two late-20-somethings that just moved in together; each had their own apartment. I’m guessing they’re more in paring down mode than building up but any suggestions for a housewarming gift? A bottle of something?

heres my day so far https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=20954949#post20954949

Happy Firday!

It was another beautiful day.

I haven’t gotten as much done as I hoped.
The front and back postage stamps got whacked since we are supposed to have rain for the next 5 days.

Picked up my scripts yesterday and they went up too.
I took Ripple in the store with me and he was well behaved, even let some people pet him.
He’s getting over his shyness.

Spidey, TP is the appropriate house warming gift for the couple who have everything.
I knew a couple who didn’t have to buy TP for over a year!

Now I need to read and catch up.

Worked, came home. Making Chipolte chicken with corn on the cob with blue cheese jalapeno compound butter. Hockey coming up in 30min.

I forgot to mention this morning, Gordie and I saw a fox in the complex. He paid it no mind, even though it was 40 feet away. Aparently
Pomeranians= hellbeasts that must be killed
Fox= harmless fluffy ginger cat/dog. :dubious:

I had a lesson with my music composition teacher today. I petted his dog with one hand and his cat with the other hand.
