The Great MMP Semi-Offical List of Mumpers for this Week

Tonight I made a brunch dish for dinner. Diced sweet onion, diced red and green bell peppers sautéd in olive oil and butter. Add frozen cubed hash browns an cubed ham. When this is hot, scramble eggs into it, When the eggs firm up add shredded cheese, put a lid on it and take it off the fire and let it sit until the cheese melts. Serve with scratch buttermilk biscuits.

Good simple and filling meal on a cold day like today.

I used the MapMyWalk app for the second time. Two miles in 19:42. Unfortunately, my iPhone shut off (ran out of juice?) just as I got home so I couldn’t save or share the workout.

Hey! My tax refund check arrived! I got all excited thinking it would be my stimulus six hundred … nope.

But, still, happy to have ANY check to deposit.

Paloma doesn’t totally excite me, but it’s an improvement. Fair warning: very long rant about my irkday follows.

Have any of you ever been VERY sorely tempted to march out of irkplace expressing your opinion of same by way of one finger per hand? (OK, two per hand for the UK contingent.) About the only thing that stopped me from doing so today was obligations to DH and pets as far as bringing in income.

Got zapped for NCNS on Friday, sup claiming she did not receive email that I would be out. Calling was not practical due to lack of audible voice. Found said email in my Sent folder where it belonged, will be depositing printout of same on sup’s desk tomorrow.

Then, got an IMO grossly unfair autofail on a call. If the PITA anal-retentive newbie QA didn’t feel my notes on the call were detailed enough, I might grumble about a 10-15 point hit, but that would not utterly infuriate me (he bitched about my not noting info another agent had done so with mere minutes before). He decided to call it a violation of regulations by claiming it to qualify under the “unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices” umbrella. BULLSHIT!!! Poor near-desk neighbor had to put up with me fuming about this most of the afternoon. Then again, I had to spend most of last week listening to her fixating on a 5-point deduction (different QA, who I agree could have been more specific about the matter).

Bonus points on this: direct sup is not available this week, since she’s training newbies. I do plan to consult another sup (I’ve worked on his team before and am comfortable with him) to find out what protocol is for appealing a call score when my own sup is not available for this.

Everyone is at this point convinced that QA’s current mission is to nitpick and hairsplit their way to giving the lowest scores they can justify. At least four people, especially veterans, are actively seeking other employment at this point. I’m one of them.

Golden Arches catered tonight, since I was able to take advantage of a deal that got me enough nuggets and fries to cover both dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. I think a few spicy nuggets snuck into my order, when I specified regular, but they’re within my admittedly wimpy tolerance, so I can deal.

I really need to go to bed early tonight, since I slept poorly last night, even before DH’s snoring rousted me 45 minutes early.

Howdy Y’all! I survived another Vestry meetin’. Actually not a bad one as it only lasted an hour and a half. Anywho, got back to da cave and chilled for a while with some Netflix. Thus has been my evenin’.

MOOOOOOM glad the in-laws are comin’ up for a visit. Maybe they can be enticed into makin’ it a more permanent thing. FCD is a good son to do all that drivin’ so they can see other family.

Wordy yay for wordymom!

I read all but can’t say I retained all, so yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Now I shall betake myself to bed. Nitey Nite Y’all!

I had a hair appointment this morning. My stylist has become a friend over the last several years. Today he told me how much he’s learned from me and how much I’ve enriched his life (his terms). He’s not the kind of person who says such things easily, so I was especially moved.

When I walked to the waterfront today, I came upon a seagull with an injured leg. I called a couple of friendsfor suggestions, but there doesn’t seem to be anyone who rescues seagulls, so I reluctantly left her…him…it. :frowning:

wordy, cheering from here for wordymom and her loving daughter. So glad she made it through!

Red, yippee for getting a short work week!

It’s been so wet around here, we’re looking for a dove with an olive branch.

flyboy, how did I not know about this app? One of the drawbacks of living under a rock, I guess. Thanks for the tip. And that’s a brisk pace!

Seanette: I feel bad. You were here first. If you’d prefer to keep your current nickname, I’d be happy to have mine changed. OTOH, if you don’t like the nickname “Nettie,” I hope you get one you do like. I also hope work improves. Seems like you’ve got an incompetent supe.

Ever had Trader Joe’s? Delectable and I can eat them twice as fast cause they are so inexpensive for the quality. TJ’s is such an enabler!

Up, caffeinated, and shevled. Off to sort n’ heave.

{{{{Nettie}}}} Goood luck on the job search.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and rainin’ with a predicted high of 68 and rain for the day. The big excitement of the day is laundry. Bug man is also comin’ this mornin’. Sup shall be bbq sammiches (yestiddy’s poke becomes today’s bbq), fries, and coleslaw. I foresee much sloth as neither of us has any reason to be out and about.

{{{Nettie}}} hope you are able to appeal. I don’t blame you for startin’ a job search. Here’s hopin’ you can find a new gig soonest.

red yay for an extra long weekend!

shoe yay for tax refund!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

FCD just called - at 7:30 this morning, they were passing Sycamore, GA. Forgot to tell him to wave, swampy, tho it is a bit far from you. They’re heading to Avon, IN, which is west of Indianapolis. And barring any issues, they’ll be coming here on Firday. I’m pretty sure FCD is sick to death of driving.

The earlier arrival means I need to change a few plans. No huge deal, especially because when I did my meal planning, I didn’t allow for any takeout, and I know FCD will want fried chicken from Chaptico Deli one night. I just need to check the freezers and figure out what I need to buy on Firday before they get here.

I’ve actually got 6 of them - I’ll post pics a bit later. Then I’ll toss them into the washer for a rinse cycle - at a minimum, the dryer will remove all the cat hair!

And YAY for your mom! That’s exciting!

It’s another cold, dreary day. We’re promised snow on Weds and Thurs, but no real accumulation - just more cold. On the plus side, the electric blanket may be delivered today. But being FedEx, I’m not holding my breath. It left Hagerstown in the wee hours of the morning, but until I get notification that it’s left Upper Marlboro, I’m not going to be watching for a truck.

I’ve breakfasted and tended to the critters. My one big plan for today is running the steam cleaner over the area rug in this room. That might take an hour… maybe… And I need to tread the mill for a bit. But not much else on the agenda. We’ll see how the day goes.

Happy Tuesday!

I wouldn’t go that far. Email hiccups happen, but I am still going to give her that printout, with timestamp of message highlighted. As for the problem with appealing that call score, it’s not her fault she’s so busy this week. That’s on higher-ups who can’t seem to have adequate people to cover everything without expecting people to be able to perform at least two sets of full-time duties each.

As far as the name thing goes, don’t feel bad. I never did care for the one I got tagged with here, so do not object in the least to letting you keep the similar one.

And FedEx is living up to my expectations. I signed up to get delivery notifications of my package. They texted back that delivery info is not available. Gee, thanks for telling me you can’t tell me anything! Idiots. I just want to be told when it gets here, in case I don’t see the truck pull up. Considering their recent history, I can’t be sure they won’t leave the box in the driveway behind my car for me to run over.

Idiots.

Snowing again. Not gonna drive today. Happy tuesday everyone!

oops - I only had 5 lap robes, altho I found a half-finished one that I’d forgotten about, so I pulled that out to be finished. But here are the ones that are done.

They’re folded in half, in case it’s not obvious from the photos. Two are knitted, three are crocheted.

I’ll wave when they pass through Nashville.

Mrs Magill’s endocrinologist’s monthly newsletter had a “Did you know” about female heart attack symptoms. After going through the list, checking off most of the symptoms, and ruling out that she probably has been having a heart attack for the last two years, she decided to discuss things with her GP at her physical yesterday. The GP said she probably had an acute case of being over forty, but (considering family history) scheduled her a heart test for this morning.

Getting older is not for the faint of heart.

Afternoon, mumpers! We had more snow overnight but not too much, enough to cover the ground and turn my grey car white, but it looks to be melting away now. The weather app says “Mostly cloudy and cold with a chance of mild fucking depression” and promises me 1C/34F all day along with mostly cloudy. That’ll explain the sunshine then, won’t it?

Mooom those lap robes look so comfortable! I have a red and black v-shaped shawl that a friend crocheted for me a couple of years ago for xmas. It lives on top of the sofa and often gets used when I can’t be bothered to move for a hoodie, or can’t reach my slippers without disturbing a snoozing cat.

Nettie sorry to hear about your work woes, I would definitely leave that email for the Sup when she returns, and escalate the other matter. Sounds very unfair that you’re being penalised for something that’s not your fault and in any case, you should have a chance to defend yourself. I’d be looking for another job too if I had to put up with that.

wordy so glad to hear about your mum’s end of treatment bellringing, I am not surprised it was an emotional experience for both of you.

shoe are you treating yourself to something with the refund cheque?

Mum’s solicitor sent me a bunch of stuff to sign and a form to complete for them to pay out on her estate so I need to fill stuff in, sign it and return it to them. She’s still following up the investment plan that may or may not have a trust attached to it just for the sake of clarity but I’ve also signed a note requesting that they encash it anyway. She will act on whatever decision is made once she’s heard back from the provider. She has suggested they could make an interim payment now and sort the rest out later but I’ll ask her to wait until everything is settled. I’m inclined to make my brother wait as long as possible for his inheritance - he keeps asking me where it is, despite crowing somewhat about having just deposited a six-figure sum into his wife’s account from the settlement of her parents’ estate not so long ago. Of course, he didn’t mention where the decimal point was in that six figures

FCM, looks like he has to go through Atlanta on the way–best wishes to them, that’s a nightmare to drive. If he was coming up I-65 I’d invite them to lunch, but it looks like we’ll have to give it a pass.

Nettie, sorry to hear about work being irksome; sounds like one anal-retentive person trying to ‘impress’ the bosses with his/her zeal, and the supes need to sit down and have a chat with them before it costs them you and other good employees. As for your Mumper name, can’t think of what to play off Seanette, and hard to play off a job you may be leaving–hmmmm, maybe 9-to-5 since your work conditions reminds me of the movie??

Boo fae, sounds like things are moving along. Good.

nellie, you’re a big-hearted sort (like trying to help a gull) and people are going to like you–it’s natural.

Bumba, hope the housing idea works out and good on ya for the gift.

talky, yeah for MOM-unit.

OK, need to be about the day. Still waiting to see if I get an appointment this week for the COVID vaccination, but haven’t heard back yet. Meanwhile we’re closing in on 31,000 cases for the county over the past year, nearing 10% of the population…ah, Ali-bama…

On the good side, it’s going to 60F today and the Pest control people are here doing whatever they do. So need to grab some sustenance and…do something.

All y’all take care.

That’s nice of you, but at best, it’ll take just under 14 hours, not counting rest stops for slow-moving parents. I expect their meals will be grab-and-eat-in-the-car events. If he’s lucky, they’ll sleep a fair bit of the way - holy crap, it sounds like traveling with toddlers! FCD just called - they’re circling Atlanta. On the beltway, not in a plane!

I just finished running the carpet cleaner over the area rug - it was really filthy! Then I disassembled the cleaner to get all the clumps of critter hair out of various crevices. I’ll let the rug dry overnight, and I’ll have to take an iron to a few spots tomorrow - it just doesn’t want to lie flat. Dammit.

That was my one big chore for the day. It also counts as exercise, what with moving furniture and pushing the noisy machine back and forth repeatedly. I may still tread the mill for a bit later. Perhaps.

I also ran out to the shop to check the stove out there. It’s maintaining a steady temp in the low 60s. But it’s also full of ash. I turned it off, and in a few hours, I’ll go out and scoop the ash out, then restart it. I need to do the same in here - it’s supposed to get near 50 today so relying on the furnace won’t be too expensive. Speaking of which, I need to check the fuel tank. I definitely don’t need to run out of heating oil in this cold with elderly folk arriving.

And it’s time to start thinking about lunch. A sammich sounds boring. I may order takeout from Salsa’s.

Yeah, I only get things when I need them. I think I googled for the app, but it’s been on my phone a while and I don’t remember where I found it.

I generally walk about 3 mph. Mrs. L.A. says I walk too fast, but there are people who walk faster than I do. Might be the cold climate.

Those are phenomenal! I love the colors you chose for all of them.
