Heisenberg Compensator design and construction.
It’s not the number of loads or the number of occupants; it’s the constant pressure from the water source that weakens the hoses over time, just like it does for garden hoses that are left on. I would urge you to at least take a look at them to see if there are any bulges, cracks or other signs of excessive wear. I know nothing about your laundry room, but a long weekend of water flowing freely isn’t going to help your utility bill much.
That happens to me occasionally, and it’s usually because I get too hot in my sleep. I normally have my bedroom window cracked even in the dead of winter, but I sometimes don’t have it open enough. Once I wake up, it takes me about a half hour or so to cool down and get sleepy again.
If you’re waking up, there’s a reason. Are you drinking any caffeinated beverages, or falling asleep watching TV?
Jasmine (or is Princess for your MMP name?), I do drink sugary/caffinated bevedrages, perhaps to excess, but never had the problems I had the last couple of nights. We’ll see if the cooler temperatures have a effect.
Cookie, I’ll take a look, just to be sure. Thanks for the tip.
flytrap, I called them and the costs originated in Reynoldsburg, Ohio in 2007, so a road trip is not planned. I called them and they said right away that they would remove my name, which makes me suspect that they shotgunned this out to many folks hoping to hit the right one. We’ll see.
Got my first painting estimate, much lower than expected, but with winter here the outside jobs are drying up and the painters are scrambling for work. Still want to get 1-2 more estimates.
Talked to my internet provider, it’ll cost a whopping $3 more a month to get wireless and my speeds should increase anyway. So that is the afternoon’s mission.
All y’all take care.
Thanks for the kind thoughts and hugs, swampbear and dogbutler. I keep telling myself she’s in less danger today than two days ago, when we were all unaware she was having a problem. I’ve been worried about her for a long time. Yesterday’s news brought it from simmer to boil level. I did get to sleep, but I woke up every two hours.
Mooom, you go on teaching Roxie the practical stuff!
I have to call the insurance company today. Always a pleasure.
Don’t teach her about weeds, Mom! You’ll create a monster!
Speaking of washing machine hoses; I’ve got a new one for you. At our little house in Eastern Oregon the cold water stopped running into the washer. I took the hose off and turned the faucet on, (I had a bucket handy), and water came out.
Put the hose back on and hooked it back up and water came out, for a few seconds, then it stopped! Turns out these were ‘special’ hoses that had a water shutoff device inside the hose that would shut them down if water flow got too high. (I think)
Over time I assume their threshold lowered until they would shut off with not much flow. I never heard of such a thing. Needless to say, there’s a new set of hoses waiting to go over to Maupin on our next trip. They’re just plain rubber though. They didn’t have any of the wire-sheathed hoses. I’ll get some of those later on. We turn the water off whenever we leave anyway.
(We’ve got wire-sheathed hoses on our washer here at the ‘big house’ after an impromptu pool party in our back room about 10 years ago.)
Rats, I discovered that taking acetaminophen before bed was causing me to have ‘night sweats’. Stopped taking it at bedtime and the sweats stopped. :dubious: You don’t do that, do you?
Well, I need to get my posterior in gear. I need to go by the credit union and sort out my auto-pay for the car payment. I got an email last night that it didn’t go. No explanation. Prolly the credit union down south it’s financed through changed something again. As soon as I get this car paid off I’m closing that account. They screw up too much.
Also got a text this morning confirming Gibbs’ grooming appointment for today, except his appointment is for tomorrow. Gotta straighten that out. :dubious: And hopefully I’ll get to go to Costco today, which was my original plan. le sigh.
Happy Toosday, y’all
Baking is done, and cookies are all packed for the trip. I’ll clean the cookie sheets and cooling racks shortly. Other than that, I think I’m free till suppertime. Yay!
What are you doing with all that lovely free time?
Happy Toosday!
Messy, messy day today.
Lots of rain, 34 degrees outside. I wimped out on going to the dog park. I knew Jax wasn’t going to show up today, but I wasn’t sure about Bella. I sent a text to Bella’s dad and he invited me to come over with the dogs so they could play. I kind of didn’t want to go being that I didn’t want to go out at all, but I went anyway, and he didn’t answer the door. He told me he was
hungover, so I suspect he fell asleep before I got there.
The dogs are… very active today. Too much energy, I probably should have taken them to daycare.
Thank you** MetalMouse**, I try to be good to my friends We’ve got the day picked out, the Sunday after Christmas. I’ve been trying to call my friend so I can tell her that a whole hoard of us are dropping by, uninvited no less, to visit. I’m not telling her it’s going to be a cleaning party.
Now we have to work out the details. We are going to Friend1’s house. Friend2 wants us all to bring food. Friend of Friend1 (I’ll call her Friend3 because we are starting to become friends) and I are both against the idea since we are there to eliminate the mess, not create more. Friend2 thinks we should also invite Other Friend of Friend1, which I think OFoF1 would not like to come to a cleaning party. However if I don’t invite her and she finds out about it she will be offended. And she will find out about it. OFoF1 has been calling me to talk, but every time I try to call her back I get a fast busy signal. So she is likely to call Friend1 to ask her what is up with me, and Friend1 will surely invite her over with the rest of us, so better the invitation should come from me. Or maybe I’ll just tell Friend1 to invite her since I can’t get through to her, and when she walks in the door I’ll hand her a dust rag and a can of Pledge.
Nellie, I thought about hiring a pro to come in and help. I don’t know if it would help. My friend is what we call ‘scattered’. Organization is an alien concept to her. However, we are hoping if we can eliminate a lot of the clutter she’ll be able to feel more relaxed and not so stressed in her home.
I’m sure your sister will be fine, but she should know that high blood pressure is not something to play with.
I had forgotten about the recipe blog. Got to go back and peruse it again. Remind me how to get recipes on there?
You don’t need to deal with ISP, you can purchase your own wireless router. Since they will charge you $x/month in perpetuity it becomes cheaper after Y months to have your own. They should have a list on somewhere on their website of compatible equipment. Prolly < $100 to buy.
As we do, too.
Went to the funeral today, graveside service. 37° & rainy. I put on shoes when I got dressed since they are stored in bedroom closet & grabbed boots (from the coat closet) & put them in the car when I left. When I arrived I saw folks standing on the pavement & saw the tent was very close to the pavement so I decided to be classy & wear my shoes with the suit instead of boots. Bad idea. I was careful where I walked & didn’t get them too muddy but it took 20-30 mins in the car until I could feel my toes again. Nice, relatively short service, but just listing the progeny (3 kids, 7 grands, 6 spouses {collectively}, & 9 great-grands) took a while. Even when they said daughter of <mom & dad> I remembered her parents. She was like a second mom growing up as I spent lots of time in that house.
ONE THOUSAND cigarettes not smoked since November 2. I’m so proud of me, although I’ve had some mighty strong cravings.
Howdy all. Got hubby home around 2pm. He is taking a nap. I guess I shall go cook since someone has to. He said he would but i’m not gonna wake him.
Other than that the day is almost shot.
Off to cook.
CONGRATS, peedin!!! I am suitably impressed with your will power! Go YOU!!!
Baker, **gt **used to manage the recipe blog, and she gave me permissions, but I can’t remember how to use them. I’ll ask her if she remembers - we’re friends on FB.
Supper was good. Dishes are done. I’s tahred. **nellie **- I played on my tablet for a few hours, because I could.
Howdy Y’all! I laundered, watched Netflix stuff, achieved nappage and made sup which has been et. All in all a nice day inside on an icky rainy day. The rain is gone and it’s gettin’ cooler out.
CupCakes I don’t know how to add recipes to the blog. It was started by, I think, gardentraveler who no longer posts in here. Maybe somebody else knows more about this stuff than me will provide a better answer.
{{{Nellie}}} May your sister continue to improve.
metal mouse, you’ll be able to stream TV once you have wifi at your place (IIRC, your new one is a smart TV). It’s amazing to see what all is out there to watch for free. It also tends to be clearer than OtA during inclement weather.
Irked and even irked on the gingerbread house some there today. The old bat is having a fit of pique and called out. It wouldn’t surprise me if she does again tomorrow. Tomorrow, sales order guy has a big reversal project going on (end of the year cleanup), so I’ll be taking care of his stuff, my stuff, the old bat’s stuff, finishing up the gingerbread house and attending the departmental luncheon. I may have to find something to do with all of my free time.
I’m not understanding you, what do you have now? If you don’t have internet, how do you talk to us? (I’m not even going to get into the question of why you talk to us. ) I’m confuzzied. ![]()
As Spidey said up above, you’d be money ahead to buy your own router. The routers the providers will give you are often not very good. The one we had for the last 3.5 years, that just died, cost me $180, IIRC. Still worth it. Once I got it set up, which took a little while, (the manual sucked), I never had to touch it again, and it was at least 5x faster than Verizon’s router, which I had to reset about once a week.
YAY! Wet ONE! Don’t worry. The cravings will go away in a few years.
I keeed! Six months from now you’ll wonder why you ever wanted to smoke those nasty things.
Went to Costco. Wifey, who usually hates to shop, decided to go with me, which was just as well, as we (I) spent $90 on warm weather clothes that we needed but I prolly wouldn’t have looked at on my own.
Anyway, Costco was a zoo, but I managed to get some of the stuffs I went for.
I also got a big-assed Costco chicken pot pie,
and a Costco fruit cake, that I have decided that I like better than the ones the monks make. Does this mean I’m going to hell?
Got my bill-pay conundrum figgered, I think. The money came out of local credit union okay but won’t arrive at down south credit union for another day or two, so I’ll check Thorsday and then fix it iffen I have to.
Also got the doggie grooming sorted. Young’en at the groomers put Gibbs in twice by mistake. Once today and once tomorrow. Today’s is cancelled. I’ll take both boys over tomorrow to get prettified.
No tacos today. Chickie pot pie instead! ![]()
.
Supper cooked and et. Kitchen sorta cleaned up and I am collapsed in the bed. All of a sudden I got no energy. Just pain puny though I am not sick. Hope I am not getting sick. I have one more free day then back to the grindstone. I needs to get up and shower after hubs is done. May or may not happen. I am burning up. Not a fever but just hot and sweaty. I thought I was over the f’ing hot flashes. That’ll learn me.
I have a few pitiful gifts to wrap but shan’t be able to put them under my magnificent tree. I put the tree skirt around it and Buddyboy has gnawed the noses off the snowmen. He is exhausting. I have never seen any animal so excited to have his daddy back. Scooter the cat was happy as well then promptly registered her anger. Cats be weird.
It’s so muggy. I have my A/C set on 59F. Hubs tells me it doesn’t cool faster but what the heck- I am going to burst into flames.
Happy whatever day it is.
I feel so rude.
I saw the neighbor out back and he asked me if I like sugar cookies. Of course I like sugar cookies. He said he was going to bake some today or tomorrow and would give me some. He brought some over this evening, still warm out of the oven, and I was on an irk call and couldn’t answer the door. My son got the cookies for me, but I would have invited him in.
So I will apologize to him tomorrow. Maybe ask him if I can treat him to lunch.
I finally got Friend1 on the phone and told her we were all coming for a visit. She said please tell me you will come in my bedroom, because that will force me to clean it up. I said not only will I come in your bedroom, we are all going to help you clean it up. So not a surprise anymore, but she is delighted that we are coming to help.
I don’t know what was going on next door today, but the city was tearing up the neighbor’s sidewalk and the corner of her yard.
Supposed to be 19 degrees in the morning. It’s daycare day, so I won’t be out in the cold. I may take them in later than usual, wait for it to get light outside. After all the rain we had today I expect there will be some icy spots out there.
My son was saying he didn’t know what to do today now that school is over. I pointed at the vacuum. I even picked up all the dog toys for him. That lasted about two minutes before Echo pulled them all back out and spread them around the room.
Oh, now I’m craving warm sugar cookies!
peedin, I love that way of measuring your continuing triumph over cigarettes. Congratulations! That’s got to be, what, around $400’s worth? Plus I’d factor in some for the eventual medical bills you’re saving.
I went to the gym and then to the grocery store. The cashier in my lane is a happy guy who cracks a lot of jokes. Little things like that make my day.
