Congrats, wetone, the next thousand will be easier I’m sure.
Sari, hope the cleanup and the sugar cookies go down well.
Butters, hope you’re not coming down with something, I know what’s it’s like to lack energy, been that way most of the week.
Bumba, just had a modem that hooked to my main computer and didn’t feed anything else. Did get a wireless modem and installed it (will raise my bill 3/month, so not to bad) and the buttons are all lit up, so I guess I am getting Wi-fied, but now the %^%% laptop won’t boot up. May take it to a computer store that seems moderately geeky and let them have a go at it. Or maybe hire a 14-year kid, they can probably get it working in 10 minutes, tops.
Spidey, your story reminded me of my late aunt, who died in Wisconson about 20 years ago this time–It was 8F when the graveside service took place, needless to say it was a short one, most of the praying was inside.
Went to soccer this evening, just finished a quarter-pounder w/cheese for dinner. Internettin’ will occupy my time until sleepage.
well we started the coldest month of the year here ill be glad for the mid/late January thaw then we get our monsoon month but given its rained so much so early I wouldn’t be surprised if it rained at all …
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear (I’ll take TWPTB word on that as all I see is dark) with a predicted high of 52 and N.O.S. for the day. This is actually seasonal weather for these parts. This mornin’ I shall lay in provisions and then just hang at da cave. Tonight is “The Longest Night” service over to the church house and I have ush duty. Thus, I will head over late afternoon to do stuff like haul the biiiiiiiiiiiig trash can (only one this week) to where it goes for pickup tomorrow. Booger King shall provide sup since we’re both goin’ over for the service.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public in the Pubic Sto’ attire. I live such a hard life!
I could NOT fall asleep last night! It was after 1:30 when I finally zonked out, but I woke around 5:30. Today will be interesting. I have one load of laundry, but no other specific chores. We’ll see how I occupy my time.
I need to make a packing list for the trip, and I need **FCD **to bring in a couple of bins for me to pack things in. Better to have gifts and cookies contained than sliding around the back of the vehicle with the dog. Plus it makes for easier loading and unloading.
It’s cold today and promised to be colder tomorrow, but at least I see blue skies and sunrise. Cold and dreary is so much worse!
It’s a N.O.S. 27, feels like 21, degrees outside.
Nice and toasty warm inside.
I got the brats off to daycare. Echo is on The List again today. We need to work on her leash manners.
Last night she thought it was great fun to jump off the bed, and run around to me so I could pick her up. As soon as I’d get her back on the bed she’d jump off again so I could pick her up again. Great fun for her. She can jump onto the bed by herself, but she’d rather not.
Finally I gave her a great big hug and held her for a while, which she actually likes. All the dog experts say that dogs don’t like to be hugged. They haven’t met Echo.
Trying to put in a lot of extra irk hours this week since next week is going to be a sucky pay week. I’ll be taking off most of Christmas Day, maybe the whole day, and the Sunday afterwards. My mother wants all of us to come to the armpit in the morning, then she and I will go to Niece1’s house while my son stays at my her house with the dogs. I think we’ll go down early in the morning and stay until my mother leaves for my niece’s, then we’ll go home. Or maybe not, I’d like to see my niece and her family.
I don’t envy you the drive to Florida Mom. I don’t even want to drive the two hours to the armpit.
I’ve met lots of dogs who loved hugs. The so-called “experts” apparently lack clue on this topic.
Not looking forward to irk today, based on how willfully stupid and flat-out rude the callers have been lately. For bonus points, I’m pretty sure my extension had a direct line to the psych ward yesterday.
**sari **- at least there will be 2 of us to share the driving. I can’t even count how many times I made that drive by myself. I-95 is boring, and SC can be a real pain - for some reason, people driving in that state will stop on the interstate for no apparent reason. We’re just hoping that the worst of the traffic will be over the weekend.
Roxy is up and she’s been fed. SIL is up and I think he’s getting ready to go out. **FCD **brought in the bins - I can start packing cookies and some gifts. Still need to make the list and run the laundry.
And as for the Mumper Recipe Blog, I got in touch with **gt **- she’s going to try to figure out how I can take it over, so with luck. we can add more recipes soonly.
**Butters **- we’re leaving in the dark of Firday morning - whenever we wake up. In the past, it’s been as early as 4. It’s a long-ass day of driving - in ideal conditions, it takes around 13 hours. Lately, it’s been taking us over 15… blech.
We used to drive from middle Jawja to the Keys which is about that length of time. I can’t do it anymore in one fell swoop. We used to do it for just a weekend. Crazy. Be safe.
We no longer push it like we used to. We stop more frequently and switch off drivers more often. No more 6-hour stretches at the wheel. But I do hate starting and finishing in the dark - especially since my astigmatism makes night driving a challenge. So my sweetie handles the beginning and end stretches and I do as much as I can of daylight driving.
I wish they’d move closer to us, but alas, that ain’t gonna happen.
FCM, Butters, I can still do the 6.5-7 hour trip up to my brothers with only one stop, but if the traffic is heavy I usually program another on the way.
Need to get ready to go out in a short while, banking and shopping are needed. Fortunately the sleep light came back on in my brain and except for a couple trips to micturate I stayed in bed till after 8am, so I am actually feeling capable of doing something intelligent.
39F going to 45F, about average for North Ali-bama this time of year. N.O.S. skies predicted for the next couple of days.
Unfortunately, any alternate to I-95 is only slower - like 301 - or longer - like 85/75. So we do what we must. Did I mention I did it twice towing a sailboat? Yeah, that was fun.
I slept better last night and hope MetalMouse did, too. I did wake up around 3:00 a.m. my time and thought of swampbear checking the temp and feeding rumbly tummy. I smiled and went back to sleep.
I have odds and ends to do around this place today. One item on the list is sweeping out between washer and dryer. There’s a two-inch gap, and with my vision, I didn’t notice until last night that errant socks, dryer sheets, and dust have found their way in there. Maybe I’ll find the manger and Baby Jesus from Beck’s creche.
Moooom, I can’t imagine hauling a sailboat. I mean, even when I could drive, it would’ve scared me silly. I’d have visions of driving downhill and seeing the sailboat whiz by. Glad you won’t be contending with that this time.
Argh. I got a wedding invitation from a former student a week ago and forgot all about it. I taught in another state, so attending the wedding isn’t an issue. I still get wedding invitations and graduation announcements from my students, though not as many now that I’m no longer teaching. This one is from a very sweet young woman who gave me a retirement gift, so I wanted to get her a little something. I sent her a gift via Amazon (where they’re registered), but it won’t get there until two days after the wedding, which is this Saturday. :smack:
Sahirrnee, sorry you’re feeling grumpy. Sometimes those grumps build up and need a day to express themselves. That’s my unscientific theory. Hope they jump ship soon!
