I kind of figure if you live where it rains all the time, you’d better adjust to walking in the rain. The only problem was I stopped at the grocery store en route, and the rain weakened the paper bag (no plastic here) so that it started disintegrating. I put some stuff in my purse and made it home.
My mom wore size 5. That’s a tiny size for the daughter of tall you, though! I can’t blame her for not wanting to try the kids department. It’s not like Paw Patrol sneakers are high fashion, and boots are most likely going to have Spongebob Squarepants on them. Glad you survived.
The new dishwasher was installed after thirteen days. Joy.
I bought myself the epitome of a foolish, pointless waste of time, money, and space this week, and Amazon delivered it today in an enormous box: Harry Potter Lego Hogwarts. 6020 pieces. I’m embarrassed that I got this thing, and yet simultaneously can’t wait to get started. There’s something very stress-relieving about sticking all the little pieces together and watching it take shape. The age on the box says 16+, so obviously I’m not the only weirdo out there, but still. Will be hiding it away when anyone comes over.
So have you been without a dishwasher for 13 days? Yuck. I spent most of my adult life without a dishwasher until three years ago, and I wouldn’t want to go back. Hope the new one is worth the wait!

WOOHOO!!! Believe it or not I am excitated about this. We shall have a celebration of sorts with folks from his office at our favorite Mexican (OLÈ!) place this evenin’. Needless to say I shall be the designated DD.

It’s a clear 16 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 39 today.
I guess FCM took the cold with her, as TWPTB have predicted a heat wave for next week. The temps will be in the high 40s and low 50s.
Not in a hurry to leave for the park today. We’ll get there eventually. Ripple is clinging to me though, heaven forbid I forget to go.
I almost left Lil Shit home yesterday. She wants to play games when I try to put the leash on her. She also pulled a Lily again yesterday when we were leaving the park.
I made a ham yesterday, today I am going to make it into a casserole, only using broccoli instead of potatoes. I also have to use the ground beef that has been thawing in the fridge. Don’t know what I’m going to make with that, except it is going to have to use peppers and onions. Lots of options there.

Morning all. The painter who was coming over today at 2pm to give me an estimate just called and said he’s coming about 9-9:30, so after typing this I need to make myself presentable to company much earlier than planned. 41F going to 54F so not a bad day out.

Afternoon, mumpers! Last working day of the decade for me, and probably only another hour to go. I have sent my minions home so it’s just me and the other assistant manager keeping the office going until some time when we decide we’ve had enough and disappear off.
Happy retirement day to OYKW, I hope the celebrations are suitably decadent!
I woke up around 0300. I did manage to go back to sleep until 0330 (almost an hour before my alarm). After 20 minutes or so, I decided to just get up and get ready for work. It was a good thing. Today’s our Christmas party, and I wanted to wear a tie. I used to do Bowtie Wednesday, but I switched my commuting days to Tuesdays and Thursdays so it’s been a very long time since I’ve worn one. Remember I’ve lost a lot of weight? I had to adjust the tie I chose from a 19" neck to a 17" neck. Then I had to remember how to tie a bowtie. It took me two tries, but I got it tied.
Traffic was good from almost-Canada to… oh, Shoreline or somewhat north of there. The rest of the way into Seattle was as slow as usual. Still, the sign in Everett that says Seattle is 60-80 minutes away said the city was only 46 minutes away today. I got into the office early instead of late. Some of my cow-orkers are dealing with flooded roads, and are not in yet.
Anyway, light schedule this morning. Gift exchange later (I’m not participating), then off to the secret location for the party. I’ll leave from there (the north end! Yay!) about 1430 so I should be home at a reasonable hour.

Or, we’ll pass on a hair salon in our wills. It’s looking like we’re about to buy the salon where he does most of his ladies’ hair. (He does most of his male clients at a barber shop) Right now, he rents a station, the renter of the station in the middle of the building appears to be on the way out, and the owner of the shop wants to retire. The middle room is large enough, and PWAISDN knows enough people in the biz that we’re planning to add three stations. Three new stations = three new tenants = $$$
Slept late. DILs coming. We have to go over the Christmas eve and C.day menus. I’m letting her take over most of the planning. I’ll cook what she wants me to cook. And of course I’ll pay for all the grub. It’s so nice having her take the lead. I’ve worn myself out over the years. I don’t have the stamina anymore.
The lil’wrekker has certainly livened up the house since she’s been home. She fed the cat’s and walked the dogs this morning for me. She sent Big Wrek to the diner to eat breakfast. Good girl!

Howdy all. The painter was by and gave me and estimate about twice of what the first guy did. Don’t know if he’s high or the other guy was too low (indicating to me less-than-standard work). Guess I’ll see what the last guy bids before I make a choice. Then since I was dressed I went out and did some banking so should be good for today’s activities.
My best to OYKW on his retirement, so now both swampy and he are retired, see how long it takes to get on each other’s nerves…
