The I can't sleep so I might as well start the MMP

Are you a Nigerian prince? :dubious:

It could be worse—Iceland got whopped with 30 FEET of snow.

Yes, I’ve been keeping the Jungle busy lately, but I’m on the other side of the country from you, so I’m probably not to blame for your hours.

Much to my irritation, DH’s preferred work shirt (Carhartt S224, navy blue) has been discontinued since the last time I bought him some, and he needs more. Does anyone know what might be the closest equivalent?

This week, the callers have been unusually dumb and nasty-dispositioned, plus the alleged co-irker are indulging in a lot of dry pool diving, then I get to clean up the mess and get yelled at for others’ screwups. Ugh.

Ugh, and the Iceland storm killed 80 horses.

Well, I slept late. Slept doped-up all afternoon, I may never sleep again. Think I’ll vacumn the staircase carpet. That’ll kill 2 hours.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 60 and rain movin’ in this afternoon. It is supposed to be rainy tonight and all day tomorrow. We shall see. No big plans for the day except that I shall get the haircut I did not get yestiddy. No excuse for not doin’ it, just didn’t. I’m retired so I can do stuff like that.

The retirement soiree was fun. We ate, we drank (well, I didn’t), we made merry. OYKW got this tshirt. I am soooooo jealous! I want! I also want this tshirt. He is still abed and may be for a while. A lot of tequila was had. Well, a lot for him anyway. Both of us have become somewhat lightweights when it comes to alcohol.

gotti hope everything works out with buyin’ the salon. Hope it’s a good money maker for y’all.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I did sleep awile. My sugar is a little wonky. I’ll feel better after I eat.

Happy, happy Christmas weekend!!

Yesterday’s Christmas party was very nice. Everyone liked my bow tie – especially one of my new cow-orkers, who said she makes bow ties. She sat to the left of my boss, and I sat on the right. The other new cow-orker, the pilot, was on my right. I had filet mignon, rare; with asparagus, French fries fried in duck fat, a Caesar salad, one slice of garlic bread, and three Vieux Carrés (Woodinville rye, Hennessey, D.O.M. Bénédictine, sweet vermouth, Peychaud’s bitters, Angostura bitters). Three little (1.5") cubes of pastries comprised dessert; key lime pie, bread pudding, and fudge. I brought them home for Mrs. L.A. Really, really good meal. I wouldn’t have minded another Vieux Carré, but it’s a long drive home. Speaking of which…

I thought the drive home would be cake. We’re ‘north’ (as opposed to being farther away from the office, across bridges and stuff), we’re being released at 1430, and there’s ‘Friday Light’ traffic to boot. Yay! Well… we were ‘north’, but not very far north. And the restaurant is in downtown Seattle. Just getting to the freeway is a slow drive. And there was the rain. Lots and lots of rain. People in Seattle and Western Washington are not used to driving in rain. Once on the freeway, traffic was crawling. It took forever to get to Everett. From Everett through Marysville, it was really a creepshow. After Marysville, people were driving 10 mph (or more) below the speed limit. Note that the speed limit is 70, and I tend to drive closer to 80. Eventually things sped up for several miles, but slowed to a crawl through Mt. Vernon. After that, people drove 10 mph below the speed limit. Why do they DO that? I’d expected to be home around 1630. I didn’t get home until 1800. :frowning:

I coulda slept in, & be in my nice, cozy warm bed but noooo, I got up at dark:15 to go out in 20° temp & eventually warm my hands by holding them up to the burner. Now we’re sitting in the Diner waiting for food to come.

I bought a couple of rib eye steaks Sunday (I think – could’ve been Monday). I went to Seattle Tuesday, so we didn’t have them then. I had Things To Do Wednesday and Thursday, so we didn’t have them then. Yesterday I got home too late to cook them. We need to go into town for cat litter, errands, a movie, and dinner today. Tomorrow we’re planning to attend a play. I have a rib roast for Christmas Day, so having the steaks Monday or Tuesday will be ‘too much beef’. It looks like I’m making steak and eggs for breakfast today.

Happy Saturday!

Nippy 19 degrees at the park this morning, supposed to be a N.O.S. 39 degrees today. Heat wave starts tomorrow with temps in the high 40s, with a few days going up into the 50s.

Cool shirts Swampy.

My ham and broccoli casserole was more like ham, broccoli, and cheese soup, but it tastes good. I browned the ground beef with pepper and onions, now I have to decide what to do with it.

Nothing special to do today, just irk and house irk.

Tortillas. Tortillas are the answer to everything.

He has a point.

Up, caffeinating, a load of towels in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash, puppy crate cleaned, breakfasted and am fixing to do KP.

There was a whole bunch of noise going on this morning, stirring the dog up. Apparently, they were up on the roof cleaning the gutters. About halfway through the first load of laundry, I heard a big SPLASH. I checked the laundry room and found nothing on the floor, so’s I thought it must have been outside. Nooooo…when I took the shower mat to the bathroom, apparently, my commode 'sploded some H2O onto the surrounding floor, bathtub, TP and lavatory (small bathroom). So that’s all been sanitized now.

This evening, I’m going to bake a ham and make a spinach quiche with a sweet potato crust. Cabbage and bacon wrapped spareguts should make for good leftovers for a while.

That option has been considered… with cheese and sour cream.
I’m trying to cut the carbs, though.

And lettuce and tomatoes.

Mission Carb Balance tortillas, 5 g net carbs. (Not corn, but low-carb.)

It took 15 hours to get here, and FCD just finished replacing the modem so we have internet again. Traffic for the last 20 miles in SC sucked mightily.

But we’re here and safe. Happy Saturday!!

Howdy all. Spent morning on soccer and leave for the 10U session at 1pm shortly. In-between I was doing the end-of-the-year book-keeping in Excel (it always shows I spend more than I made, but I always have money in the bank at the end…very strange). Still, expenses were in order and no major surprises (like a flooding bedroom) for 2019.

Need to do several loads of laundry, a final run of the dishwasher, and wrap gifts prior to packing for brother’s.

Have read above but brain is not compiling data well, so tears, cheers, hugs and mugs as required to all y’all.

ETA–Glad you made it safely, FCM

The car has an appointment for an oil change, then DH and I plan to stop at one of the local animal shelters. There’s a pigeon up for adoption, and if it turns out to actually be a domesticated bird and not too large for our facilities, we’ll probably be adopting him/her (shelter website listing does not indicate gender, which is tricky with birds anyway). I don’t want to go anywhere near any other retail today (Saturday before Christmas? I really don’t want to think about traffic).

Still raining. Records all over the Puget Sound area. I’m going to slosh over to the liquor store in preparation for my DD and her husband–not that they’re heavy drinkers, but I got my son-in-law a cocktail guide for Christmas, and he’ll want to try some out. I shall take the babushka cart. I always feel conspicuous wheeling it into stores, but I’m not about to schlepp all those bottles 8 blocks home.

Where are y’all hiding? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve had a fairly slothful day. I’m still in my jammies. Other than stripping the bed and doing laundry, I’ve messed around in the studio and binge watched crafting videos for inspiration. There’s about five more minutes before supper comes out of the oven.
