Friday the 13th, with full moon yesterday. Yippee. At least being reminded about full moon would have explained some of yesterday’s callers.
Morning all. Up at 0630 again, so nappage may occur. In the 40’s F with a 70% chance of rain and a 100% chance of cloudy.
I’m thinking of putting tile in the 3rd bedroom/Office space. I spend a lot of time here, I tned to spill food/drinks on the carpet and the patch below my chair is…indescribable. Might hurt the resale value but I plan to be here till they haul me off to the old folks home (or the cemetery, whichever comes first), so it’s what will work for me.
Need to get on getting painting estimates and finding if Goodwill wants my furniture or if I need to call one the ‘Chunk -n- Junk’ places that will haul stuff away.
Want to get all the decisions made so I can get it all set up for January with a minimum of fuss and dislocation.
FCM, you could really mess him up by putting $100 on ‘never returns’ and then dying–boy, that would sure show him! (but don’t you do that, I’d like you to stick around the MMP for another 20 years or so…).
Enjoy the trip, boofae.
Spidey, even lit up like a New Orleans bawdy house, you’re still taking a chance being in the dark woods during deer season. Don’t be a casualty.
OK, need to find some sustenance and maybe get on the phone some to set up appointments for painting estimates next week.
All y’all take care.
**MetalMouse **- I was thinking yesterday - if I stay retired just till Roxy starts school, we’re looking at a minimum of 4 more years. That will make me 70. I can’t imagine wanting to work at that point. Not to mention all the software changes in that time - I’d be *sooooooo *far behind the times. So, nope, not likely to go back to work.
Roxy just had a scrambled egg with a side of applesauce. I should be able to get her down for a nap in about an hour. Theoretically. Then I can take Higgs to the groomer and run a couple more errands before SIL has to go to work.
I need to get a couple of $100 bills for Roxy and my great nephew. They’re going to get so many gifts, I figured I’d just contribute to their college funds. Roxy already got her mini-tramp and I’ll find something for Grayson to unwrap.
It also occurred to me this morning that I’m no longer confined to Saturdays for laundry day! WOOHOO!!
Meanwhile, Sesame Street is mushing my brain…
My train of thought stopped at the station with a sign that read AMPED. ‘Amped’, of course, means ‘excited’; as in, ‘We were amped for the trip.’ I’ve always assumed ‘amped’ came from ‘amplified’. But what if it actually comes from ‘amphetamines’? Or what if ‘amphetamines’ comes from ‘amplified’?
Maybe I need more coffee. (Yeah, ‘maybe’. Maybe fish need water.
)
You is a divorce attorney? ![]()
What if one doesn’t have email &/or text messaging? They are not required the way a DL or SS# is.
What you meant to say is Happy Prehistoric Creatures Day!
You could land helicopters with what I had on. I literally had 360° coverage of obnoxiously bright blinking LEDs (& I’ve got a lot more stuff at home that I didn’t take with me). I don’t think hunting is allowed right there (I was actually on the AT for a bit) but it is allowed nearby. I was also on the fireroad or open field except for the last 50’ to the overlook & that’s not a place that hunters would be because that’s not a place that deer would be as it’s rocky & packed earth & no vegetation.
I shall actually wear more for next week’s (but only Red/Green) [del]Drunken Debauchery[/del] Caroling Run. This year it’s been cut down to only four bars (plus the before & after meeting point) where we shall run to & then [del]croak out a[/del] sing an Xmas carol before deciding that our throats are so parched that we need to consume some liquid before proceeding to the next location.
Prolly going to pass on our SantaCon tomorrow as we haz a 90% chance of deluging from the sky.
Happy Firday!
It’s a not so horrible 34 degrees outside. By the time we were getting back home the rain had started. Supposed to rain all day with a high of 41.
President Woodrow Wilson consider 13 to be his lucky number. On his visits to Europe during WWI, he arranged for the ship to land of the 13th of the month.
Rain has started here. SIL put Roxy down to nap. I’m about to take Higgs to the groomer and run a few errands. This retirement thing is overrated.

Late moving around today. The lil’wrekker is home. She’s home! She was her sweet self all morning. Just a joy to be around. Man she’s got plans while she’s home. She always over books herself.
Making chickie and dumplings. Can’t go wrong with those.
This morning after breakfast me and the lil’wrekker were sitting in the LR. The cats came in and sat on my chair with me. She said, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen those cats do that”. They have never warmed up to her. They were kittens still when she left for college. Meeko even let her pet her head. Not Bear though. He put a paw out when she tried. Snooty cats!!
Y’all have a great afternoon.
(She’s home, she’s home!!)
Howdy Y’all! I did stuff over to the church house this mornin’ and then came back to da cave. ‘Twas rainin’ fierce and I did not want to deal with Sam’s, so I didn’t. So nice to be inside, warm, and comfy!
Beck yay on lil’wrekker bein’ home!
MetalMouse have you considered laminate wood floorin’ for your study? Super easy to clean and looks good.
Less than $30 at Staples but lots of places carry them.
I ran my errands. I have a clean dog. I have crisp bills for baby gifts, plus a pack of Matchbox cars for Grayson. I had lunch at Red Robin, and between it being the 10th burger (so free) and the gift card I had, including tip, lunch cost me 17¢! I count that as a win.
**FCD **just came in - he’s going to nap while his heat analysis model is running. SIL had to take the truck to work - his car wouldn’t start. I’m about to have some Roxy time.
It’s still cold and wet and dreary out there. blech.
Cookie Christmas cookie day! Sappy Carpenters’ songs on the Sonos, flour everywhere, chopped nuts, citrus, vanilla and other extracts. What’s not to like?
Aren’t babies going to roll a $100 bill up and stick it in their noses? :dubious:
Cookie’s making cookies!!
I’ll be cookie-ing this weekend with the Grandwreks. Maybe fudgey-ing, as well.
Fudgey-ing?
I believe you can be arrested for than in Mississippi, and they are right next door.
Well, the doc yesterday said I should have my gall bladder out. Said if I don’t there’s a 40% chance of it doing something unpleasant later. Also said there is a tiny (1% - 2%) chance that the anesthesia will mess with my heart and I’ll die on the table. Nevertheless, I’m scheduled for Jan 22nd. It’ll be laparoscopicly , so I’ll get to go home that afternoon, if I live.
Iffen I die, I’m leaving all my boogie woogie records to Swampy
Today’s annoyance: This morning I got an e-mail from Amazon notifying me that my purchase will arrive tomorrow.
Only trouble is, I didn’t order anything!
I looked at the order and it was for a backlit keyboard. Now, I’ve kinda wanted a backlit keyboard for a while so I wouldn’t have to turn on my desk light to see to type, and a local store advertised one on sale this week, but it was a brand I never saw before, so I searched on my phone (which hates me) to try to find reviews for it. One of the places my search turned up was amazon, and 'cause amazon shows their reviews I looked there to see them.
I’m supposing that my fingers got to close to their ‘buy with one click’ button or something. But I don’t recall getting any indication that I had ‘ordered’ anything, until this morning.
I’ve tried to cancel the order. We’ll see. The keyboard is $5 less at Bi-Mart, and it’s a lot easier to take it back if it turns out to be crap, so I don’t want it from amazon.
dammit.
Bumbazine, in my experience, if an Amazon order is slated to arrive the next day, it’s too late to cancel. I once tried to cxl an order an hour after I placed it: too late. Sorry. Maybe you’ll love the keyboard and want to keep it? Sorry you have to have surgery, but yay on it being same-day stuff.
Beck, yay on the joys of having Li’l Wrek home! She sounds like she’s a tonic for you. My DD won’t arrive until day after Christmas. I don’t care. All that matters is she’s coming. Praying the pass is open and conditions are not dangerous. I hate that damned (but beautiful) pass.
Got the place all decorated and gifts wrapped yesterday. If the last one arrives today, I’ll wrap it and get all the boxes out today, though getting them to the PO is bound to be an adventure.
Somebody have a coke habit? :o
Bear wuz you in Company C?
