The I'm up early MMP!

Yes, I am up early. Blurfin’ it early on a Saturday. Gotta do some more baking, then head off to a rehearsal, then a party.

My life contains too many parties and too much free coffee, but I sure ain’t complainin’.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and foggy. This is also the high for the day. The temp will drop to 68 later this mornin’. Well, brrrrrrr!

Tonight is fish fry night so gotta get stuff ready for that. I need to make coleslaw and cut up the fish filets into smaller pieces. I bought whole catfish filets cause they were on sale. They are hyuuuuuuuuuge filets! Thus the need to cut into smaller pieces. This bein’ a fish fry, the menu shall be catfish filets, coleslaw, fries, hush puppies and cheese grits. Oh, and Ima make a mandarin orange, aka pig pickin’, cake. Plus there’s beer cause, well, that’s the beverage to pair with a fish fry.

Ok, now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then I should get busy with the slaw makin’.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

 Oh My Goodness! A few minutes ago I remembered this mornin’ is Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Day. I almost forgot! We were given tickets to it even. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, and bacon, and I almost forgot! Dang!

Anywho crisis averted. We shall soon be pancakein’ away.

Lovely. VWife has decreed that I. Must. Take. Her. To. Tahr-zhey. Today. It’s the silly season, and I’d druther slide down a 50 foot razor blade into a pool of salt water.

We had some of those stores open here in Quebec recently. And that’s how we’d pronounce them here.

Baking finished. I have to pack up the cookies now.

I forgot to blurf at y’all, so BLURF.

Blurf

Irk is a little much, but this is expected for December. The high today will be 4c/38f and the motorcycle is looking more like a torture device than a means to make $$$$$.

Blurf indeed

Happy Caturday

Jim

Many pancakes, sausages and pieces of bacon have been consumed along with mass quantities of milk and oj. N.O.L. will most likely not even be thought about. Da bear is full as a tick!

Ok, need to make coleslaw.

I’m here! Haven’t been able to keep up this week…maybe next week. In any case: Hugs to all.

We’re headed to Indianapolis later today for the football game. I’ve never been to a big game like this one (it’s the Big 10 championship game), but my brother and nephew really wanted to go and downtown Indy is nice and set up pretty conveniently, so it should be fun. (It’s in the same stadium that nephew’s band competition was at, so we’ve been there recently and we’re still familiar with the area.)

Hope everyone has a nice weekend…

More hugs.

GT

I never complain about free coffee.

I’m up, since somebody threw a tennis ball at me to wake me up. Laundry and oil change today. SNOWPOCALYPSE tomorrow.

Happy Saturday.

It’s getting cold.
Life sucks sometimes.

Is anybody else having trouble with the board?

And we’re back - the truck is done, we’ve ridden the recumbent bikes, had breakfast, and I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer. Temp is about 37° and there’s a little breeze, so I ain’t goin’ out if I don’t have to. ugh.

**BBBobbio **- could be worse - could be WalMart!!!

**sari **- I haven’t been having trouble, but then I haven’t been on for several hours.

Should I bake a cake today??

The answer to that question is always YES!

rosie, you’re right, of course.

I’ve been all Suzy-Homemaker here - I’ve cleaned my plant shelf and watered the plants, first load in the dryer, second in the washer, poke roast with Sonny’s BBQ sauce in the crock pot, and now it’s time to bake a cake. Go me!

I have made coleslaw, baked a cake, peeled and sliced N.O.T. for fries, and made up the hushpuppy batter. Go Me! Oh and most important of all, iced down the beer.

‘Tis drizzly and dreary out. A good afternoon to chill before cookin’ commences around three thirtyish.

Cake is in the oven - it’s a butter cake mix with lemon pudding, and I used applesauce instead of oil, so lower calories. Milk chocolate frosting will top it off. It should be yum.

**swampy **- is your hushpuppy recipe in the blog? I lurves me some hushpuppies!!

It started yesterday
I get hung up and the little circle thingie goes round and round and round and round some more

I should get up and get moving anyway. The toilet needs to be fixed but I looked at the innards and I have no idea what is going on in there. It’s been years since I’ve had to replace toilet innards. My mother says she will just call the company she has insurance with to come out but they charge $75. That is a lot of money just to replace the doohickie that sits on top the thingamabob that goes up and down when you push the flusher.

All y’all make me feel lazy and now I want some cake.

I don’t think it is, so here 'tis! This is a basic recipe. If’n anybody likes 'em spicy (like me!) you can add some chili peppers or jalapeno peppers and/or a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce into the batter.

Hushpuppies

1 1/2 cups self-rising cornmeal
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup butter milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
Vegetable or Peanut oil for frying

Pre-heat oil in deep fryer to 350 degrees

Mix together cornmeal, flour, baking soda, and salt, then stir in the onion

In a separate bown mix together the butter milk and egg

Pour butter milk and egg mixture into dry ingredients and mix untl well blended

Drop the batter one teaspoon (or tablespoon if you want bigger hush puppies) at a time into heated oil

Dip the spoon in water after each hushpuppy is dropped into the oil

Fry until golden brown turning the hushpuppies at least once during frying

Takes about twenty minutes to fry a batch if the oil is good and hot

Depending on the size you make 'em this makes two to three dozen hushpuppies

You can buy the whole assembly. If you have a shut off valve on the water line it is not difficult.

Cake is done and frosted. Last load is in the dryer, everything else is put away. Still haven’t done anything crafty. Poke in the crock pot probably won’t be for supper tonight, since it was a frozen hunk o’meat when I put it in there.

I let Higgs out, then forgot about her - poor frozen puppeh!! She saw me walk thru the dining room and barked - there she was, on the deck, making me feel all guilty… well, not really.
