Step daughter’s (v.3.1) elderly, ill Pomeranian was put to sleep a couple of months ago. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) has been looking for another Pomeranian and rescued one from a young woman who married and began having seizures. She has moved to her Mother’s house, for she needs constant observation.
Apparently Mama cannot also observe the dog.
The dog is fearful of me. I have advanced to being able to pet her with one hand. She still runs in fear if I offer to hook up a leash and take her out.
Mrs. Plant comes home at 4:00 AM to let the dog out, and awakens me.
The dog went to the vet today, and is pregnant with four Blessed Events, according to the previous owner, by a poodle, “but he is very old!”
Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) refrained from saying, “So is my Husband.”
Don’t be in a rush to claim the Pomapoo puppies, (they go from $400 to $1000) there is plenty of time.
G-d help me. My fellow Dopers, in thy orisons be all my sins remembered.
Congratulations Step-Uncle-to-Canines flytrap. Hope everything works out for you, 3.1, and the Pom.
Wiki, welcome back (I’m one of the new kids, only been here about 2 years or less). Sounds like life has dealt you some tough luck, but don’t let Murphy win (or at least play him to a draw). Stick around, it’s still a pretty good crew here.
Juliet, $3,500 sounds about average, sorry you have to go through it now, but hopefully you don’t have to worry about it again for 20 years or so…
Got the 7U girls soccer practice in as the rain all went West of here. Keeping 4 active 6-years olds busy for 50 minutes is a bit of a chore for and old dude like me, but I managed. 12-Unders the rest of the week.
Still haven’t heard from my remodeler…I mean, yeah, his son’s getting married, but since I’m paying for it (well, at least some of it, given the $$$$ I’m investing) I’d kinda like to hear a word or two from him…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out and clear (dark), with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Not a whole lot planned for the day which is fine by me. I need to take care of a few errands and such however. I suppose I should. We shall sup upon beef and cheese enchiladas. OLÈ!
An old friend who had been in hospice died Monday. I learned yesterday that a cousin, Larry, is going into hospice as of today. He has AD and it’s just time. Shirley, his wife, called me to let me know the decision had been made. He has always been a big man but had dwindled down to 144 lbs. and has been refusin’ to eat. His doctor offered to have a series of tests run to determine if there are any physical problems but as Shirley said, he’s ready to go and she sees no need to put him through all that. I one hundred percent agree with her. Larry is twelve years older than me but has always been a favorite cousin along with Shirley. They married at nineteen which means I was seven when they were married so she’s been pretty much a part of my whole life as well. Sorry for the ramble, but my friend, Lucy, and Larry are pretty big on my mind right now.
{{{Wiki}}} welcome back. I know you know of my friend Lucy as y’all became intartoobz friends. Come back and play some more.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, well, we shall see what the day holds.
**swampy **- so sorry to hear about Larry. (That’s my bro’s name, but he’s younger than I am - younger than you even!) My oldest cousin recently turned 75 - we’re the generation on deck. When did that happen??
I don’t understand why mixed-breed dogs are all getting fancy names. Back in the olden days, they were all called mutts. But no, they need cutesy labels and ridiculous price tags. No thanks. If I wanted another dog, it’d be a rescue dog.
Thus begins my day, and it’s another hot one. We’re promised rain tomorrow and cooling over the weekend - I hope so.
It’s soggy again here, and I think the main plan for the day is sitting in waiting for the postie, 'cos I’m expecting a parcel. I may then go to the liberry 'cos I need to print out a ticket for some ballet opera show thingy in Milan (it’s a student showcase of both, crappy seat with a poor view of the stage, but good for people watching at least); it was only a little more than a tour of the building and one may as well pretend to be cultured
I still need to work out transport to the airport. There’s plenty of options, but working out the optimal timing/flexibility/price combo is tricky…
It’s going to be hot and cloudy today. It looks like it is going to rain.
{{{Swampy, Lucy, and Larry}}}
Congrats Flytrap on becoming a step-something to a mess of puppies. They look cute. I’m kinda with FCM on this one though, paying lots of money for a mutt is
Afer Mackie passed I looked into getting another ori-pei, and there were many out there but they were not what I would have called an ori-pei. Crossing a pug with a shar pei does not make an ori-pei any more than crossing a greyhound with a rottie makes a doberman. Mackie was the result of selective breeding and breeding with a specific purpose in mind. I think if you are going to give a breed a name then there should be a predictable conformity to the offspring.
I’m kind of snobby that way.
Morning all. Only getting to 84F today with a 40% chance of rain this evening, so maybe Fall is coming to Ali-bama (looked at the 72-hour forecast and the weekend is close to 90F, so not quite yet…)
Still waiting to see if some workers show up on my remodel project today.
{{{Swampy}}}, and some more {{{{}}}} for Lucy’s and Larry’s families. A lot of us (well, you, me and FCM) are nearing that 7-0 number and that’s when things start breaking down (IMHO). Well, ain’t nobody got out of here alive yet, so we’ll enjoy life and our friends while we can.
Nut, a little culture is a good thing, I’ve heard.
FCM, it’s a gas furnace. I guess $3500 isn’t horrible, but I was seeing price estimates for my area closer to the $2500 price point. But a good chunk of the cost on mine is in the removal of the old one; perhaps my old one is just a beast to remove. Also, we’re also not replacing the AC, just the furnace. So 6K sounds about right.
Survived irk. The first shift went three-and-out so I had to sit around for 2.5 hours before clocking back in. Thanks to late trucks that one went the full five hours. With all the waiting I was wiped by the time I got home. But recovered and ready for today.
As much as I’m ever recovered and ready for today.
I ordered some stuff for a friend ( a surprise gift), sent it straight to her from the jungle. I got an email saying the package was damaged and they will issue a refund. I went back out to order it for her again and now it says they have sent a replacement and I have to print out a label to send the damaged package back.
So I don’t know if she got the package, and if she did it is 2 hours away, and I know she doesn’t have a printer and if she is getting a replacement and if I am getting a refund or wth is going on.
I can’t get a hold of her because, so annoying, because she constantly loses her phones, both cell and home, or she lets the battery die, or she turns the ringer off. She gives me grief because I don’t call her anymore… well, answer the damn phone and I will.
flytrap so your step-daughter is getting the rescue Pom? Or is Mrs. Plant 3.0? Are you actually going to sell those puppies? All signs do indicate that they will be adorable.
Swampy I am sorry to hear about Larry. I hope his remaining time his peaceful. Best wishes to you and his family.
Things must be done! I must do them! Help! Ack! Pbbbt! (<----- Bob the cat)
Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) rescued the Pom. We had been caring for the aging Pomeranian, who was very fond of Mrs. Plant (v.3.0).
The plan is to talk someone into adopting them. I hope that are adorable.
Those are some very cute pups Flytrap, although, to be honest, there are very few pups that I don’t find very cute.
IIRC Wifey paid $500.00 for Vinnie, an AKC registered Schnauzer, 11 years ago.
The little guy, Gibbs, we got from Wifey’s sister shortly before she passed. She wanted to be sure her problem child had a loving forever home. It took a few months to sort his behavior problems out, but he’s a great little guy now, except he still has a big mouth.
Sorry about your cousin and your friend Swampy. Yes, you are approaching that age. Looking at all you young pups from the other side of 70, I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but I’m not nearly as wise as I once thought I was. Just take care, and love each other.
We are good --------- until something goes wrong and then YMMV big-time. A friend worked in the “problem solve” (damages) section of our delivery wing; she quit basically in frustration when they moved to the new building. Everything is computerized but very GIGO and she ended up the human ear that got yelled at a lot. Stay on them otherwise it just gets more complicated as things go along.
{{{{{Swampy}}}}} – as always prayers ascend for you and all the crew down there.
I got a call back from the jungle and all is well. Damanged package was not and will not be delivered. Refund will not be given. Replacement is on the way.
Many packages delivered here today. Unfortunately, my son does not like the new pants I bought for him, they have elastic around the ankles, and I have to send them back. I hate doing returns. I don’t know of anybody I can give them to.
I have not seen the cat since yesterday afternoon. I’m starting to worry.
I guess I should wake up and get busy around here.
