To be precise, the term she used was “hitting”, not “tapping.”
Weren’t they just working on a shelter, like Libby and Hurley were doing in a previous episode?
middleman brought up this very question recently. I said then that I was reluctant to get into the which-person-is-part-of-what-group discussion because I fear that way lies maddness. But this specific relationship was brought up when Zeke met Jack, so the ambiguity has been noted. I’m currently rethinking this one, but I’m starting to think some version should be included.
Any question dependant on the answer to another question should be part of the original question. Put another way: If the Ethan and Zeke are working together, this question is moot. I’ll try to work this question into a rewording of the previous one.
If they meant to do anything more than what they did - drawing a line in the sand - there are no hints. No reason to suspect an ulterior motive. I’m leaving this one out.
I’ll ask a question of my own again. Is there any reason we aren’t considering question 45 answered?
I’m comfortable saying that 45 has been answered. Yes, the Others took Walt. There’s the minor question of exactly how many groups of “others” there are, but it would seem to be the main body that did it.
Good. I was getting ready to make an executive decision and write it off myself, but I always like to have somebody else confirm.
I don’t think we got anything new this episode, either in questions or answers. Maybe I’ll take the time to clean up the list.
Then again maybe not.
As next week seems to be a repeat, I’ll wait until then to do a clean up.
I think we can get a better idea after tonights episode. Apparently, the Others play a role. It really DOES come back to that line of questioning that leads to madness of who is allied with whom.
I’m sure they’ll be trion their best.
New episode tonight and a new cleaned up list to go along with it.

We did get s clue to question 72, but not a proper answe in the last episode. THat connection between Kate’s dad and Sayid may be all we get, but I’m going to leave the question open for now. If we don’t get any more info after a while I’ll take it off the list.
Is there a 1:1 ratio of manipulators:manipulatees in the primary characters from flight 815? Whether the manipulation took place prior to the crash or not, it seems to me like they are split 50/50, with a few people in both roles.
- Why does Claire have amnesia? Answered: Trauma. And drugs. But mostly trauma.
- How did Claire escape from Ethan? Answered: Alex staged a jailbreak
- What became of Alex? Answered: She got all growed up
- When did Claire and Danielle meet before - and why did Claire scratch her? Answered: Danielle saved Claire from the Others.
honeydewgrrl: wha? We only know of a few instances of Others having information about the Lostaways pre-crash: Catch a falling star, and maybe Walt, and that’s about it. They might have known about Jack and his dad so they could steal the body, reanimate it and bring his dad back as a zombie, but we haven’t seen that yet.
My question isn’t related to the “others” at all. It is just a vague observation I’m trying to flesh out about the survivors of Flight 815. There seems, to me, to be a 50/50 split between characters who have a history of being either manipulated perpetrating manipulation, in general. Significant, life-altering manipulations that can be interpreted as being at least inderectly responsible for all of them being there.
:smack:
There seems, to me, to be a 50/50 split between characters who have a history of being either manipulated OR perpetrating manipulation, in general.
You are correct on 33, 34 and 49. I’d argue that it’s more drugs than trauma myself, but that’s really not important.
I’m not so sure about 47. We don’t know for sure that was Alex although it probably is.
We also have an answer to 76) Were Ethan and Zeke in the same group? And if not, where did Zeke get his information? Looks like Ethan and Zeke were indeed working together.
I also realized last night that we missed an obvious one:
- Is Henry Gale an Other?
- Were Ethan and Zeke in the same group?
Answered: Yes
Is Henry Gale a deliberate plant (Ethan screwed up - and now we need a new mole to find the “good” people), an innocent, or an Other who stumbled into CFL’s trap…and is now using it to Their advantage?
Fact of the matter is, anyone at all who stumbles into the Losties camp is going to be treated as an Other, so it’s not like they have any other way to infiltrate someone.

Lot of new information. We have some new answers and some new info that probably will cause us to change some of our questions.
My proposals:
17) Who are the “Others” that Danielle thinks control the transmission and make the whispering noise?
This question might need some cleaning up or rephrasing. We kind of know who they are, but we still don’t understand their mission. Nor do we understand the whispers or the reason for the transmission.
18) Why did Danielle kill the other members of her team (or at least Robert)?
Is this one answered? They had, or she believed they had, the disease.
33) Why does Claire have amnesia?
As others have said, this is answsered. She repressed her memory of the incident.
34) How did Claire escape from Ethan?
I would mark this as answered but not yet credit “Alex.” I believe it was her, but we are usually careful. Maybe new questions would be “Was that Alex that rescued Claire and why did she help her?”
47) What became of Alex?
Is there a partial answer in this at least? Or should we wait and see?
49) When did Claire and Danielle meet before - and why did Claire scratch her?
Answered: She thought Danielle was trying to hurt her. (Though I was confused where she thought Danielle was going to take her.)
52) What were the keys that Brendon took, and why did he take them?
Remind me again who Brendon is? I think I asked before, but couldn’t find it.
53) How did Martin loose his arm?
Isn’t it Marvin Candle?
57) What does the computer do - and specifically the EXECUTE button?
Should we change this question? We know the button enters the numbers to reset the timer. What we don’t know is why.
58) What did Desmond inject himself with?
Partial answer? He injected himself with what he believes to be the vaccine to a disease.
64) How did Jin wind up back on the island before Michael and Sawyer?
What is our plan on this one? I’m not sure this one has an answer.
**69) What happens if they don’t get entered into the computer every 108 minutes? **
Partial Answer involving Penguins.
72) Why was Sayid on the television in the army recruiting station?
Maybe a partial answer is required here to keep our facts straight. (as trion said, I think we know, but we might not have the full info)
76) Were Ethan and Zeke in the same group? And if not, where did Zeke get his information?
Answered.
Some good points there middleman. Let me see…
17 definitely needs rewording at this point and 18 probably does count as a partial answer.
I’m going to wait and see on 47 as we still don’t know if that was Alex.
52 and 53 are related to comments Danielle made about her crew. I’m expecting that at some point we will get her flashback, but that may not be for some time.
57 does need work.
58? Hmmm. What Desmond thought it did could be a partial. What the heck, that information is probably important.
You’re right about 64. I was wondering what to do with that one. I think I’m just goint to remove it. Considering Jin juat washed up, the whole deal probably wasn’t significant.
I think at this point the producers definitely want us to believe that it was Alex. Whether that’s because it really is, or because they’re planning on messing with us later remains to be seen. I would say go ahead and call her Alex here, but maybe put her name in quotes.
Part of the French transmission (waaaay back in the Pilot) is:
Which translates as:
I think this one is worthy of a question:
How did the others know to get a mobile for Aaron’s crib that played “Catch A Falling Star And Put It In Your Pocket.”?
