The Start of The MMP

Beck, instead of fetching the ball yourself, try a stick on a rope - that way you can throw it, then drag it back. You’re welcome! We have a pug - she’ll run after a stick, then carry it off somewhere to chew on it, so, yeah, not big on fetch.

OK, quit distracting me - I need to get some work done! Dammit.

Like Jessica, I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.

I got a brilliant idea from the lil’wrekker. She opined I should sit at the bottom of a hill. Toss the ball up the hill and it will roll back to me. Genius girl!

Fine. Reject my suggestion. Like I care. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, seriously, I need to get back to work!!!

That IS genius! Shouldn’t you be taking it easier, though, Beck? Can’t someone else handle the pups for a few days?

Went out to dinner with woo friends last night. Not too much woo-talk. Whew! But one guy is an MD. I don’t get how an MD can get sucked into some of this stuff.

Today I’m waiting for the electrician or someone like him. (Any Firesign Theater fans? No?) One bathroom light goes out whenever the fan cycles on. And I can’t plug anything into one kitchen outlet without tripping a circuit-breaker. I live in an apartment. The guy will get here when he gets here, they said. Could be today. Could be tomorrow.

FCM, I 'preciate your suggestion. Mainly coz there’s no hills I care to walk to. Except the one going down to waters edge of the pond. Not a smart alternative. At. All.
Nellie, I’m not doing much. Being still as much as possible.

So I tried to help my son set something up.

I told him over and over that the holidays are coming, do NOT wait until the last minute.

So I found a place they can volunteer, only one team member is away until the 26th, another is away the 28th through the 2nd, one can’t go unless it’s Wednesday, and one can’t do it on Black Friday. The assignment starts Black Friday (wrapping presents at the mall with the proceeds going to charity). That leaves only T-F, the assignment is due Friday, so not really enough time if they do it on Friday, but it doesn’t matter because the only slot open was on Tuesday. Besides the one who can only do a Wednesday, two of the others have no idea what their work schedules are for that week. Slots are open on Black Friday through Sunday, but one will be out of town and the other works retail, and so won’t be available. I called the food bank, but they already have enough volunteers.

So I tried to help him out, but he and his co-leader are going to have to figure something out. Only 4 of them showed up to the last two assignments, so one person may have to be left out. Doesn’t matter as the entire group gets the same grade.

Got the desk put together, except for one piece, which I don’t care about anyway.
Got the hole in the fence fixed, for good I hope. The neighbor was outside when my brats got into her yard, so she unlocked the gate so my son could go over and fix it from her side. It’s a lot easier from that side as there is no tree in the way. We’ll go back out tomorrow when it is warmer and cut down more of the rose of sharon so we can get back in there and tighten it up.

Just had a grand tour of our part of the county. I was headed out to pick up pizza, but the main drag was blocked. So I turned around and headed for an alternate route, which turned out to be more circuitous than I expected. But I got to Domino’s, got the pizza, and headed back. Of course, the road was still blocked, so I detoured to the south where I knew there was a cross road that would get me where I needed to be. Long, dark ride, but I’m home so yay!

I hope the pizza wasn’t cold by then. Now I want pizza.

Howdy Y’all! The doc took me off the one med I thought she would. YAY! Also talked with the church insurance folks and filed what they called a preliminary claim on the mowers. OK. Well, I guess I understand that as maybe the stolen mowers will be found. I gave the police a tip on a suspect in Pennsylvania. :stuck_out_tongue: red I don’t suspect you because I don’t think a Heathen would want Christian lawn mowers, especially an Episcopal ones, as bein’ Episcopal they don’t like change and would probably refuse to work.

'Tis cool and rainy out, so a good time to be inside, warm, and dry. Chili/cheese/slaw dawgs and fries have been ingested. Fart fest in progress.

It used to be a quarter, but that’s inflation for you!

(Somebody had to say it…)

** Swampy**, good luck on the mowers. People will do the damnedest things. ('Twould be fitting if the miscreants had to handle mowage as community service, though.)

Sari, re: community service hours. Is there a local old folks home or senior center that might welcome holiday decorating help? Or a church/synagogue/etc. that knows an oldster who needs some winter weatherizing help or such?

(Everybody else, please accept my great good wishes, encouragement, sympathy, and witty suggestions about current situations, as appropriate. I’ve lost my chain of thought. I was interrupted by a telemarketer who called me “honey” while I was telling him to remove my number from his calling list. As in, “no, I need your name to do that, honey.” Bite my ass, honey.)

Meanwhile, hubs and I are celebrating our decade anniversary in truly middle aged style: I made him a sandwich, he gave me a card, I transferred $ to the college student’s checking account, and we’re treating the fourth grader (who is currently very much not searching for her lost eyeglasses) for impetigo. Mr. M went to a ham radio club meeting, and I ordered in. Romance is alive and well, y’all!

:dubious: We do have ethics, ya know!

Feel better soonest emily!

sari, check to see if your locale has a diaper bank. The work doesn’t take much training, just packaging ten diapers to a package with a label to indicate size and donor.

metal mouse, if you have a Discount Tire close by, they’ll air up your tires free and you won’t even have to get out of your car.

It looks like I’ll be knocking off irk after lunch tomorrow. I have to stay that long because the boss is treating us to lunch in honor of my 14 year anniversary and one of our cycle counters’ leaving the department ( :frowning: he’s a good one ).

Looking forward to tomorrow evening. I’m taking Nelson to a local beer park. https://www.hopspringstn.com/ It’s dog friendly and some friends’ band is playing. This is one you’d like doggio. Beer, dogs and Celtic music. :stuck_out_tongue:

We had another stress test at work where they sent an extra 60% of stuff at us with no real notice. We handled it like pros and everything got out on time. I am so looking forward to what they throw at us after Turkey Day. Its going to be brutal but I think its going to be a good kind of brutal like I used to have way back when ------------ 3 and 4 years back.

Thank you Peaches and Red!

We sent off an email to the diaper bank, hopefully we will hear something soon.
Tomorrow we’ll look into some nursing homes.

Red, being a fellow heathen (swampy and spidey take note), I am not adverse in saving a buck, and we do have a Discount Tire, but then I’d feel like I owe them something and probably go back and buy tires from them (the original tires are coming up on 26,000 miles and 2.7 years and the tread is pretty worn).

Peaches, Dad jokes? really?:p;) and happy Anniversary.

FCM, sounds like a long ride for a pizza, but if it’s good enough…

Sari, maybe he just needs to fail others (besides himself) and learn he can’t get away with it forever (from a life-long bachelor who knows nothing about raising young adults).

Becks take care. Dogs can be patient (after whining for 6 hours straight…)

Dental appointment remembered and teeth are cleaned, polished (hate this) and flossed. Dentist made here usually 90 second inspection and pronounced me good to go for another 180 days. Celebrated with a Wendy’s lunch. and just signed up to referee 3 soccer games Saturday. Need to start resting up for it now.

All y’all take care.

Friends don’t let friends go to Domino’s.

Why didn’t you get real pizza?

metal mouse, I have purchased tires from Discount Tire. Should you consider them, beware of the bait and switch. If you’re OK with house brand tires, you’ll save a few bucks. The name brand ones run about the same as what you would pay elsewhere. When I busted a rim on the little red truck (alloy rims), everywhere else wanted $500 to replace it. DT was able to get me a re-man one with a warranty for under $200 and have it on the truck that afternoon (even the dealership had a two day turnaround). Given that the truck had 200K miles on it by that time, I went with the re-man.

Almost finished with an in-between project in the studio. It should be wrapped up by Sunday evening. Now it’s chill time.

It’s 02:22

Pretty but, what am I doing awake?

Have slept like shit this whole week. Lack of visibility of work project combined with two micromanagers (neither of whom listens to anybody, both of whom can spend one hour talking for about a minute’s worth of actual info) is bad for my health. Will be asking grandboss if he wants me to leave at end of notice period or cut it short. Grateful I can afford to do that. I’ve stayed in places with worse management, but I had personal reasons to do so which do not exist here.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 51 and rain for today (especially afternoon) and tonight. I shall go take care of some [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties over to the church house this mornin’ and do candle duty as ‘tis my turn. Want to get all this done this mornin’ and be back at da cave before all the rain starts up. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

The low tire pressure light came on in twuck yestiddy mornin’ whilst on my way to the doc. I stopped at the Homerun (convenience sto’) on my way back to da cave and aired up. Air is free there! Anywho, used my tire gauge thingy and tires are all at their desired pressure now.

Peaches there are Whiskypalians all over Statesboro this weekend. Diocesan convention is bein’ held there on the campus of GSU. The big item is the election of a new Bishop. I desired not to go, so didn’t. Just lettin’ ya know in case there’s any increased rowdiness detected between now and about noon tomorrow when they will all go away. Happy Anniversary!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is so hard!

Happy Firday Y’all!

**Nellie **- the pizza was warm enough - I did have the heater on in the car, after all.

**Alien **- our pizza choices here in the boonies are limited. I don’t do Papa John’s - partly due to his politics, partly because the last time I had it - ick! Then there’s Pizza Slut - nope. We had been getting delivery from a local place, but it seems to be slipping in quality, plus they’re quite pricey. I refuse to get pizza from any place that uses canned mushrooms (looking at you, Ledo’s!!) And despite being outside of Domino’s delivery radius, I think their pizzas are worth the drive (tho not the county tour.) I have yet to find a frozen one that I consider better than meh.

I woke in the middle of the night with a weird pain down my right leg from the front of the knee to the top of the food. It felt like it wanted to cramp up - very painful! So I got up and walked around the bedroom a little bit, and that seemed to ease whatever caused it, and I fell back to sleep.

Taking my car to the body shop around 8:30 to get the wheel well liner replaced. I have Roxy duty, so she’ll be going with me. I’ll tuck the Nook in my purse just in case - it’s full of games that she seems to like. The kid has taken to technology amazingly fast! To her, every screen is a touch screen!

Onward! Happy Firday!!
