Well I had to stop irkin’ OT when I started cussin’ at the stuff I was auditing. I figured I was too cranky to keep going and went and took a nap. I feel much better now and my language is back to being “family-friendly”.
Hey Soapy it seems us “Yinzers” are everywhere these days. I know all those neighborhoods pretty well. I lived in Squirrel Hill for a while and was a regular at the Squirrel Cage (the Squirrel Hill Cafe). I’ve lived in Shadyside for the last 20 years, although it’s the “wrong side of the tracks” part up the hill from Shadyside Hospital and across Baum Blvd. That was some awesome sounding BBQ you mentioned. Reminds me of when I used to hike over to The House of Sauce on Centre Ave in N. Oakland. They had the best beef ribs…practically falling off the bone. Yum!
Hey rosie if I still had the Caddilac of Doom (or Crap-ilac as I used to call it), a 9 hour commute wouldn’t seem bad. In a winky little Chevy Cavalier, my back would never speak to me again afterwards. I used to make a similar drive back when I was seeing a girl that lived on Long Island (Long-guyland as spoken by the natives). It was with great surprise I noticed drivers were more polite on the Cross-Bronx than back home on the Parkway.
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better, Woody. The restorative powers of a good night’s sleep are amazing, aren’t they?
That’s all I got. I’ll be headed off for pizza & wine later this afternoon. With pepperoni & extra cheese (the pizza, not the wine). Yum!
I was in grad school at CMU, but at the Mellon Institute on 5th. We used to go to the Oakside Inn for for sushi and Korean food, yum. We used to go to a rib joint that all you could eat ribs, but I can’t remember the name.
Pgh was a really nice place to live, especially poor- great buses, cheap standard of living, walk just about everywhere.
Dunno if he was covered or not. In fact, I don’t know if ours is covered, but our deductible is so high, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway for us. Good question to ask, tho.
I just finished cleaning my studio, mostly. What a wreck it was! FCD made the frame on my wedging table - I just need to mix up the plaster and pour it in. Then I need to tuck a few miscellaneous items away, and I’ll be ready to work down there again. Yay!
It’s muggyriffic here - take too deep a breath and you could drown!! My back yard is FungiLand! Everything in the house feels damp. UGH! I’ve got the air set low just in the hopes of it drying the air a bit. We might see some sun on Wednesday. Maybe. If we’re lucky.
Pig pickin’ has been attended and poke has been consumed. It was good poke.
The farm we went to is in one of the most beautiful areas I’ve seen around here. The Boys kept running into people they knew and I just stood there and looked around. It was a beautiful sunny day, but we went up the Blue Ridge Parkway for a bit and it was super foggy and smelled like rain. Welcome to mountain weather.
At the Public Market again today. Sales are good. Now I’m waiting for the Chicken Coop people to deliver my fried chickie lunch.
Yays, boos, hugs, gropes as appropriate/inappropriate,
So…Went to hockey. Canes lost, but some the players looked great. Went for wings afterward. Got some bad ones, had food poisoning. I recovered just in time to meet my “just friend” for dinner, and get her her hockey tickets.
rosie, I LOLed, I voted. Ditto on the hope for EBWBT.
Congrats, BBBobbio! Now I won’t be worried if I have a “Hey, y’all watch this!” moment on Maryland.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 70 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 92. That’s actually kinda early Fall weather round these parts.
After deheathenization, we’re goin’ to one of the local [del]hog troughs[/del] all you can eat buffet places. OYKW decreed we were goin’. Hey, he’s payin’ so who am I to argue right?
Now I go in search of more caffiene and consideration of what to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence at some point.
Another soggy day. If you’re a mushroomologist, you need to rush over to my yard - apparently it’s fungi heaven! The variety of shapes, sizes, and colors is amazing. Every time I let Scruffy out, I see new patches of 'shrooms.
Surely it will dry out soon??
No idea what today will bring. I figure I’ll do some laundry and work on the next afghan at least.
I got an email from one of my sisters who will be on the cruise in January. She’s wanting me to plan to hang with her and her husband on a few of the off-ship trips. Well, maybe, if I can’t schedule a root canal that day. Not that there’s anything wrong with my sister - we’re just very *very *different and I honestly don’t enjoy hanging around her. She and I shared a room for 18 years - that was quite enough. But I’m going to look at what is offered, and if we happen to pick the same trip, oh well…
And my spousal unit is making me crazy. Apparently last night, he dropped the a/c setting to 72°, then was whining for extra covers because he was cold. I’m going to put a parental control lock on the thermostat.
Man, this is a crabby post - maybe I need some caffeine. And a muffin. Good morning!
I have busted my butt in order to spend today doing what I want to, instead of what I have to.
I did all the laundry, shopped for a birthday present, took my husband’s truck to the shop fr a new AC fan motor, did the grocery shopping, made onions and peppers for fajitas at the bar today, cooked a ham - we had ham and sweet NOT and yellow squash and broccoli -and cooked a pot of 15 bean soup with the ham bone.
So today I can go watch football and eat fajitas at the bar, then this evening go on a distribution for the homeless. I bought 40 pounds of bananas, and we have a lot of water. I also made up small packs of Q-tips and dental floss picks.
I’m thinking my Polar doesn’t feel well this morning. I let him out to potty and he ran straight for the kennel and the little inside the big kennel.
I called him back in and gave him a treat, but he’s very quiet this morning. He’s usually somewhat of a pest in the morning when I wake up. Hopefully, it’ll pass.
It’s raining, so there won’t be any outdoor activities today. It’s okay, I’ve got laundry and things like that to do.
When my daughter and her sweetie came down yesterday; my daughter and I went to Target where I bought a new curling iron (my old one died) and a “cheer up” present for my daughter. Her sweetie has been rather grumpy and taking out some work stress on her by just sniping and being grumpy towards her. I sensed something was up when they both came in the door, so when we were on the way to Target, I asked her. She told me, and broke down in tears. This is the first time she’s ever done that. We talked about it, and although she wasn’t over it, she felt better.
I suggested she talk to him when he wasn’t grumpy and let him know that how much it hurts her when he treats her like that. I also told her life won’t always be perfect as a couple. Sometimes there’s just no talking or being around someone when they’re in a mood, and it’s just better to walk away and find something else to do for a bit.
Anyway, after Tar-Jay, we hit the grocery store and then came back here. I colored her hair and fed both the kids dinner. I made some panko crusted tilapia and tortellinis with alfredo. They hung around awhile after that and then went home.
**Bobbio, **I’m glad you’re back to your volunteer duties. I know how much you enjoyed it.
Plaster of Paris is a mess to work with. But my first wedging board is poured and curing. I don’t have enough to do the second one, so I’ll let the first one set up and try it out before doing the other side. And if it doesn’t work the way I want it to, I’ll break up the first one and buy potter’s plaster, which I read (too late) is the recommended product for wedging boards. Anyway, plaster is a mess to work with.
Third load of laundry in the washer, second in the dryer, first hanging in the closets. I need to empty and refill the dishwasher and fold some sheets that have been in the basket for 3 days. So much for vegging today. But it’s gotta be done and that slacker housework fairy hasn’t shown up in ages. Doncha hate it when the help is unreliable???
Still grey and damp and gloomy. It’s really affecting my mood. I feel like I’ve got the terminal grumps. Stoopit weather.
