I killed a squirrel today. It was an ass-cee-dent! Ya know how they do that ‘run into the middle of the street, see a car coming, act like a dear in the headlights and then run back to the curb’ thing? This one was slow. Front and rear wheels, straight on. Thump. Thump.
I must be getting soft in my old age, I felt bad all afternoon.
Today is one week from starting my new Very Cool Job I’ve Wanted Since I Knew it Was Opening Five Months Ago!
The cats are pretty used to me being around all day with them, the soccer moms at the gym in the middle of the day are going to think I died or something - I think this working business is going to mess with a lot of people’s daily routines.

I ran a U-Pick-Em football pot this weekend. I paid off the winner - a guy at work - this morning. Turns out I counted wrong, and another player won. $95!!! Shit. Now I have to pay the second guy out of my pocket.
I’ll tell the first guy what happened, but I don’t expect him to give me the money back. That wouldn’t be fair. I’m gonna tell him because I’m not going to run any more pots.

I’M A GREAT-AUNT!!! Little Madelyn Rose was born sometime in the last hour. I don’t have specifics yet but she’s a cutie. Maybe now the docs can examine the placenta and find out just what it was that they thought was a blood clot, but wasn’t.

My uncles J and I worked for the regional government (“IRS”). Aunts M and P worked for the regional government (History and Philosophy college). Whenever one of them made a joke or criticised the “civil servant mentality”, they’d end with “and I can say this because I am a civil servant!”
So, when Dad first and uncle JM later got jobs for the regional government, they called their siblings saying “I can now talk shit about civil servants too!”
Hope the sicky gets better and the girls go on being in fine health, LiLi. Please don’t name them Marie and Anne, ok?

Woodsy (nickname in progress?) I hear ya. Fortunately I cannot hear such things when I’m in da cave. However, neighbors behind me have weiner dawgs who don’t bark. They squeak. They interrupt my back porch peace and quiet.
I gots trainin’ in a bit. Woo and Hoo. Also I get to go to Savannah in two weeks for a trainin’ that takes place in the afternoon and continues the followin’ mornin’. Thus I get to spend the night in Savannah. Savannah is a three hour drive so I guess it’s better than a six hour round trip in a day with eight hours worth of trainin’. Plus it will take up two days of irk time. That ain’t bad!
