The Unofficial Start of Summer MMP

My prayers that some peace comes to you. I don’t care if its God or Allah or whatever. I’ve worn those shoes and I know how bad they hurt. Wish I could do more - I prefer pets to most people and from what I’ve seen here you got a great one. And he got a great owner.

{{{{{Taters}}}}}

So sorry, Taters. Hugs.

If he wants independent assessments of your affection for him, he’s welcome to stop by here, Haze. Your feelings for him have been pretty clear to us for quite some time now. Silly Irish Boyfriend.

Yes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Was a slug last night. Will remedy that today, I’m sure.

Little brother and nephew are coming up tomorrow. Brother is going to the golf tournament and will take nephew if there’s a spare ticket. If not, he’ll get to hang with me.

Happy Firday, all!

Go for it, haze! You have to live in the now!

Tonight I will premiere Hotel for Dogs on my new BluRay disc player whilst nomming a turkey sub from Publix. Envy me!

God, so tired…

So, we went to the vet and I discussed the diagnoses with her. All of a sudden she was backing down on kidney and liver issues. She said the counts were high, but that’s because he’s sick.

His white cell counts were off too. Her concern was the calcium levels, which were high.

In the end, she wanted to keep him overnight for aggressive fluid pushes and pain shots, with a another complete work up…to the tune of another $350.00. She also said she couldn’t actually feel a tumor in his belly, but wanted an ultrasound done, at yet another $350.00. Even if the ultrasound turned up something, I don’t know what I would do. It would just probably be surgery and more pain for the dog, and maybe wouldn’t even work.

I just can’t afford all that…I just can’t. I feel horrible. Add to that, the 350.00 we spent the other day.

So, we came home with IV bags for me to push fluids every 12 hours, along with some pain pills. We’re supposed to try this for two days, or basically until Monday. If that doesn’t work, then, well, it’s time, and I can feel I tried.

All the same, I just feel as if I’m prolonging the inevitable and I feel like I’m being horribly unfair to my dog. It’s torture for all of us too. None of us want him suffering and, frankly, we’re suffering as well. Our hearts are aching…

{{{Taters}}} - One of the hardest things I ever had to do was have a pet put down. Even though I knew it was really the only choice, it hurt.

I heard an interview on the radio with a vet talking about when to let a pet go. She said everyone’s fear is prolonging the pet’s suffering rather than letting go too soon. There’s no easy answer, but no one knows your pet like you do, and you know when the time has come. It will be the final kindness for your dog. Intellectually, you know that. It doesn’t make it any easier… Hugs to you all.

I’m home. I made it thru the week - yay. **FCD **took off early and is down at the boat doing… something… I don’t know. He wants daughter and me to come meet him for dinner. I don’t know what her plans are, but she’s going to help me cut the grass tomorrow - lucky girl.

My weekend will include laundry, vacuuming, some yard work, and maybe some boating. And sleeping, too, I hope.

TGIF!

And YAY Haze!!!

{{{Taters}}} We had to wait 2 weeks after Sadie The VunderDog hit all of our previously agreed upon indicators that it was time, because we didn’t have the money to put her down. That was rougher than actually having it done.
Bambilance duty tonight, and the deer are already trembling. Tollie and I got one last week. :frowning:

{{{Taters}}} you’re doin’ what you feel is right for Cap’n. We know that, you all know that and I believe he knows that.

Burgers and fries for dindin. In spite of mild protests re cookin’ I insisted cause I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a grilled burger and homemade fries.

OYKW still does not know about the hidden ‘nanner puddin’. I am such a stinker! It’ll be a surprise for dessert.

Friends are comin’ over tomorrow. They’re bringin’ two pork tenderloins to grill. NUM!

BBBobbio when you have bambilance duty, is there a deer processor on standby? :stuck_out_tongue:

We came close to getting whacked by a deer two nights ago. There’s a lotof wildlife around here, despite being in the city limits.

The work day is almost over. The work week, sadly, is not almost over. Lots more to do this weekend.

Another half hour of so of work, then it’s off to take blades to blades in the front yard. This weather’s so oppressive that I think it would be dangerous to try and do the entire yard in one day.

Taters, pancreatitis is treatable. I would give the treatments a chance to work, it sometimes takes a couple days to start to see improvement. The pain meds should not be a rest of his life type thing if he gets over the pancreatitis, but it is a painful condition and he needs them for now.

The elevated calcium is a concern because it can be an indication of cancer, however as the vet said, his values could all be off right now due to the pancreatitis. Give it a few days to see how he does, you are not prolonging his suffering you are giving him a chance to get better.

Wile, I know the calcium could be an indicator of cancer. That’s my big concern. If that was the case, well again, we’re talking spending money I don’t have for something may not work.

I’m trying to give the meds a chance to work. He hasn’t eaten a lick of food since Monday. I can’t watch him starve either.

I know, too, that the pancreatitis is treatable, with diet and some meds, but I really think there’s something else going on as well.

At any rate, the kids know I’m trying and my hubby is supporting me in it.

That’s because you brought in chit’lins.

{{{{{{{Taters}}}}}}}

There was a yearling bear in downtown Hippy Hollow last week. We got lots of b’ars up here. I prefer them to then ninety million deer Down East where Bobbio is.

We had our Failure To Meet Standards meeting today. It was all on management’s shoulders, apparently, because they failed to notice the standards changed. The biggest deal is we now have to check in people two different ways depending on whether they’re Hilton Honors members or not. Whatever.

But now I have iced coffee and I just ate a Boston Creme donut so life is good again. Soon it will be shower time.

Spaz was the donut and coffee so messy you needed to shower after

gotti I do late afternoon mowin’s in two phases too. It is oppressivly hawt out right now. Like a bazillion percent humidity hawt!

For the last half an hour I have been hearin’ * uddin’! uddin’! uddin’! ‘nanner puddin’!* That’s my manchild!

More hugs, Taters and family.

Does anyone want to mow my lawn? ::Looks pleadingly in a general southeasterly direction::

Home. Very tired.

Need nap, then maybe some gardening time.

Back later.

GT

gt’s lookin’ at you gotti. She’d have to look southwesterly for it to be me.

And now a Public Service Announcement…

While ‘nanner puddin’ and ice cold watermelon are fine, fine things as well as proof God loves us and wants us to be happy, they should not, I repeat should not be eaten within an hour of each other. It is possible to have too much of a good thing. URF!

I’m going to mow in the morning before it gets oppressively hot - assuming the riding mower starts. Otherwise, I’ll have to use the push mower, meaning I can only do part of the mowing. ugh. Then I’ll go to the boat with **FCD **to do some chores there, and stop on the way back to get water for an aquarium water change - 25 gallons - that’s a car full!

But for now, I’m tired. I need a good night’s sleep. What are the odds?
