Happy Thorsday!
It’s bright, cool, and sunny outside even though my phone app says it’s supposed to rain. Obviously, the weather doesn’t read my phone app.
Nothing special for today. SSDD

I took a look at the company website - we’ve got a new drafter starting at FCD’s facility - he worked for the same company and boss that I quit to come here. So three of the four who left within the month or so came to this company. Interesting, huh?
Why isn’t it lunch time yet? Today is taking too long. Dammit.
Glad to hear that your man got some, FCM. Sleep, that is.
You so funny, Fonz!
I dropped off my sweetie prescription down the road, and I’ll pick it up on my way home, so yay for that. I also drove thru BK for lunch, which is, well, adequate, I guess.
My brain is still fried. But I’m still awake, so there’s that.
I am hopelessly behind at irk. One clerk is out for cataract surgery and the other went to Texas for her niece’s graduation. That leaves me and the teenage girl who is on short time. We no longer have a duty driver to take the mail and it is up to us to take it or find someone to take it. So, instead of working I will have to drive the mail to admin. But first lunch.
and BLURF
Glad that FCD is sleeping on a normal bed, Moooom.
Do you ever cook at home metal mouse?
I’m so ready for this week to be over. I need a day to sleep in and catch up in the studio.
I stopped (again!1!) at the specialty shop where I took some vintage photo negatives that Dad sent home with me. They’ve been there a little over a month and they still haven’t printed them. I gave them until Friday to have it done or give them back so I can take them elsewhere. I wanted to have an album done for Dad when I go up in August and those take a couple of months to do.
Hopefully it wasn’t a Florida drive-through.
Congratulations Meeks and FCD and belated happy birthday WetOne and hugs and condolences (((gotti))). And apologies for anyone I missed.
Busy times - survived The Boy’s graduation and luncheon. Turns out that my foster sister’s sweetie was one of The Boy’s supervisors at his apprenticeship for the past year. Bill is a man of few words, but he took me aside to brag about the kid. Used words like “gumption” and “common sense,” and seemed really sincere. (I didn’t realize that, in order to be offered a job after the program, each of the 4 section supervisors had to vote “aye” for the candidate. My kid got the only offer. He declined - college and all - but it’s nice to know that he has an option.)
Still trying to fight with Mr. Matata’s insurance company, but at least he’s finally cleared for shoulder surgery in 2 weeks. (This time, it only took 3 months. Last time was 10 months!) Sigh.
Have also spent 2 months trying to get Girl 2.0 enrolled in her summer class at Local Podunk Tech. FAFSA, transcripts*, placement testing (since she’s not yet a high school graduate.) Radio silence now, except for the out of office e-mail reply from the coordinator. If we’ve wasted all of this time and effort, I’m going to be a very unhappy mama!
Also fighting with the benefits office again - apparently, they merged a database, and it is FUBAR, and our modest food stamp allowance and health insurance for the kids has been dropped. We can barely squeak by without the food benefits, but I’m hyperventilating about the insurance.
Muggy and 92 degrees here. No idea what’s for supper. Ready to send all of the kids back to school already, and maybe go sip a mai tai on a beach somewhere!
*Total brag: got the final transcript for Girl 2.0’s freshman year. Actual average in all classes = 97.00%. Weighted average (advanced classes get a small “bump”) = 99.45%. I’m damned proud of that kid!
A bought my Simponi drug for $5 instead of $100 thanks to someone on the 'Dope who recommended a program the company has. Thanks, whoever you are!
I promptly paid an extra payment of $100 on Mrs. Plant’s (v.2.0) mortgage on Mama’s house.
So I need to tell someone about the minor heart attack I had this morning, and you guys get elected.
I gathered all of my papers and went over to the Social Security administration (SSA) to get my name changed. With full confidence I walk up to the desk and present everything. The nice lady looks me up and says, “You’ve never been registered properly. You’re still known as an alien who can work in the US.”
I think she saw the shock and horror in my face. I responded, “How can that be? I’ve been a citizen since I was seven years old! I took the oath and everything! I thought my parents would have taken care of all that!”
She looked up some more things and looked at all my papers. I had brought my certificate of naturalization, too, so she was able to put it through, and informed me that in that time, my parents probably didn’t know they needed to go to the SSA.
I wrapped up my paperwork quickly and then as I drove back, realized how shook up and nervous I actually was. It was just something that I had taken for granted all these years, never even questioning that I was registered correctly.
Thank goodness for the nice lady at the SSA who straightened everything out. Can you imagine?
Hoe to scare your friends. :dubious:
Howdy Y’all! Irk has been survived and tomorrow is irk from home day. YAY! Not much goin’ on in these parts. I shall start dindin soon.
flytrap if you go runnin’ and screamin’ at the top of your voice whilst wavin’ a hoe about, that could scare your friends.
Wow Meeks that would be scary. Glad you got it straightened out easy enough.
This has been the longest day ever. Still at irk cause I don’t want to leave the teen alone though I could. I will just suffer through. It all pays the same.
no. spoons. must. sleep. more. bureaucracy. tomorrow.
Doggone, Meeks, you have had far too much excitement in these last few days… Chill, woman!!!
We had sketties for supper. I feel like I haven’t slept in a week. And my arm hurts. Glad tomorrow is Firday…
Dindin was wondrous if’n I do say so myself. I make gooooooooooooood quesadillas. OLÈ!
Meeks yikes! Glad you got a nice person at the SSA to help out with that.
Meeks Wow  I am so glad you found someone who was willing and able to take care of it right there! It’s done now, so all’s well. It sounds like a very scary moment.
Moommm Glad FCD is doing well.
Around here we have had a week of ridiculous heat. 95 outside right now. Predicted high of 99 tomorrow, which means we’ll break 100 easy. I am soooooooooooooooo glad I got the solar installed on the house.
In other news, my son “graduated” (promoted? whatever they call it nowadays) from 5th grade AKA elementary school today. He has come so far this year. New school has made all the difference in the world. He even won an award for academic achievement, and next year it’s on to middle school. He was so upset last night, because they had spelled his name wrong in the year book. He was convinced this was a sign that something bad would happen at the last minute and he wouldn’t graduate. He did graduate and won the award. The man giving the award even had several nice things to say about him. He just floated around for hours. (They did spell his name right on the certificate.)
I must now stop procrastinating and do something. Some thing.
{{{Rosie}}} I feel your pain. I really do. Hang in there. I’m sending you a few spoons. My laundry can wait.
We had a tragedy in the town where I work this afternoon. During the practice run for the air show, on of the Blue Angels crashed.http://www.newschannel5.com/news/crews-respond-to-reports-of-blue-angels-crash RIP Captain Kuss.
In better news, I’m now finished with PT. Yay!
So I’ve been on a major roller-coaster all week because of the house situation. As I told the realtor, the mortgage company is testing the limits of my patience and my medication.
Tuesday night, I got an email that said, “We’re sorry, but we can’t match you with a loan.” Which left me very confused because no one said anything to me about any problems aside from Airman’s credit. So I called the mortgage officer and played phone tag with him all afternoon Wednesday.
Wednesday afternoon, I got a call from their credit guy, letting me know that they were going to pull Airman’s credit again before the 45-day free-look window expired. I mentioned the email from the night before, to which he said, “Let me talk to Mike [the mortgage officer] and I’ll call you back.” It turns out that the mortgage company was waiting for some stuff to be reported so Airman’s credit score would be high enough to solve some debt-to-income ratio problems that popped up. It also turns out that there was a deadline that passed, so that triggered an automatic withdrawal of the original application. However, since the deadline passing wasn’t our fault, it’s just going to be a do-over with better credit, and the application will be signed and the appraisal ordered tomorrow, which will make the sellers happy. So it looks like we’ll be able to hit our mortgage commitment, which means that we’ll be moving over the Fourth of July weekend.
Any close-by Mumpers want to help us move? We’ll be broke, so you’ll have to buy the beer.
Define cooking. :p:) Actually, I do eat at home pretty regularly, my normal eat out schedule is PM meal (I usually only eat twice at day) twice during the week, one breakfast, and Sunday dinner. All other meals are either by me or microwave.
Outstanding, and great on the Lad’s grad.
Of course, she also reported you to the Donald Trump campaign for ‘resettlement’…
Seriously, those ‘out of nowhere’ moments are probably the most heart-stopping ones we have, because they are so unexpected. Glad it was all taken care of (or so you think…)
Bits of rain during the day, never heavy but still around. Nappage for the afternoon, which means I’ll have to stay up late tonight if I want a good night’s sleep.
