The Unofficial Start of Summer MMP

A good way to lose weight.

So the hampsters ate my morning post. I worked, I did laundry, I took a nap. Apparntly the athma’s starting to bother me again.

And I ain’t happy about it.

Meeks, Glad you got it fixed.

Congrats on Girl 2.0. Peaches!

Went shooting this AM – .30 Luger – one of the few times where my ammo was worth more than the firearm. :smack:

Doing a double at work tomorrow – boost the pay a little before I start taking days off.

So I was listening to Amazon Prime Music and a song came on I didn’t really care for. I picked up my phone to see who it was and skip it and the lock screen was displaying the album cover, which was an octagonal design. I said to the Mrs “huh… I think that’s a trailer park… On main street… Over toward your dad’s house…” I opened Google maps and swiped a few miles northeast and BAM it was the exact image from the album cover.

Strangers to Ourselves

5001 E Main St

It’s just rotated 90 degrees.

For what it’s worth.

They were just here in April. Also an AF Thunderbird also but pilot is good and noe there is loss of life and missing soldiers from Ft Hood. Flood. :frowning:

Mundane and weird. Went to the little grocery store after supper* to grab some milk and fruit and breakfast stuff**. Parked under one of the lamps in the parking lot - these are cased in a concrete “box” up to about truck bumper level. As I walk past the lamp, I noticed something shiny sitting on the box: ammunition. Specifically, 9 rounds of Winchester .17 Super Magnum. It appeared that a couple of them had been run over by a vehicle or something, so I guess maybe someone spilled the box in their vehicle, and some fell out in the parking lot, and some helpful soul picked them up and left them under the lamp? Who knows. I brought them home.

(We don’t own anything to fire them with, but it adds to my police wife credibility. If you share a home with a cop, you’ve found ammo in the damnedest places: washing machine, sofa cushions, under the seat of every vehicle, in the junk drawer and underwear drawer and shower. Now I can add “at the grocery store” to my Ammo Bingo board!)

  • Supper turned out to be black bean soup and cornbread. And it was delicious. Used up the ham bone left from Monday and Tuesday’s dinner, too.

** I was reading a news article yesterday about a glut in the market on cheese - market forces, surplus, European Union, something something, cheap cheese. Sure enough, there was a coupon on the eggs for $1.00 off the purchase of a dozen eggs and 2 packages of Kraft cheese. And the cheese was on sale - 3 8 oz. chunks for $5. And the eggs were $1.00 per dozen. So it’s omelets tomorrow, because I bought 3 # of cheese and 3 dozen eggs for ten bucks! And local peaches. Mmmm, Not Our Peaches!

Happy Firday!

I’m up way too early and was up half the night worrying over the dog. I’ll be feeling it later.
My poor old dog couldn’t find me yesterday and got upset. Even after he found me he was still panting and couldn’t settle down.
So we still have the AC on to keep him cool. He had a restless night, now he is snoring away and I’m still awake.

Other than that SSDD

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Emtar, congrats on being vaguely famous!

Peaches, in the shower? Hubby worried about bathroom Walkers or something?

I NEED SLEEP!!! I had a terrible time trying to fall asleep, I kept waking up, I had weird dreams, and my arm hurt. If I make it thru the day, it’ll be a miracle. I have many tedious tasks on my desk - staying awake will be a challenge.

**FCD **is going thru the worst of his healing right now - 2-4 days after surgery are usually the most painful, then things start to settle down. At least he’s taking his pain meds and not trying to “tough it out” as in the past.

And then there’s the crappy weather promised this weekend. So, yeah, I’m in a mood.

Happy Firday. Blech!

FCM, wishing you luck. (But I would like to know the proper magick/threat/Jedi mind trick for convincing the bitter half to just take the medicine. Mine won’t. I know what he’s afraid of, but I think I’d rather have a semi-functional husband with a dependence than the current situation of refusing to even take a Flexeril until we are all miserable.)

Dogbutler - the decepticons, by definition, could be anywhere!

Also, blurf.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and clouds rollin’ in late afternoon. The forecast for the weekend and Moanday says rain. Fine by me.

Today is irk from home day so I am slackin’ a little bit. I shall soon finish caffeinatin’, feed rumbly tummy and purtify. I am told I need to do some online trainin’ for new stuff startin’ in July. OK. I will be coastin’ pretty much all of July and could not care less, but, hey, it all pays the same.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Blurf.

I’ve had several late nights this week (last night we went to see a band so I wasn’t home much before midnight) so am very tired today. Up to my eyeballs in exam stuff and reports so work is a total 'mare and that’s going to continue for the next couple of weeks until we get to the end of term.

I need sleep but I have a crazy busy weekend coming up too…that’s not good at all when you’re exhausted from the start. Ho hum.

Onwards and upwards!

Eggs are 2 dozen for $1 at the local produce market. Yeah! I eat eggs every morning.

FCM, what was FCD’s surgery? I feel I asked this before but can’t remember.

Dieu merci c’est vendredi OR Gracias a Dio est viernes

Illegitium non carborundum.

Thanks, guys. I can tell you, I came home and hugged my husband TIGHT.

I am working from home too, have made the arrangements to do so once a week. Yay!

Ding dang dog dag nabbit.

The fuel pump just went out on the truck. And the new auto insurance bill came in - The Boy had an at-fault ticket in January, and lost almost all of his discounts, and now his coverage has more than doubled. And we’re still trying to sort out the food and health insurance benefits, after a state database merge that made everything stupid.

Pretty sure that I need to advance the date for the nervous breakdown I had scheduled.

bLURF at irk of course. At least tis Firday. I really hope it doesn’t get too busy today so I can just hide from the public but I am logged in just in case I have to help out my teen girl. Stay away folks.

Hugs to all that need em especially Peaches and Rosie.

I don’t remember the fancy-pants name of the procedure, but one of his lumbar disks herniated in such a way that it was compressing his spinal cord, causing major pain down both legs, front and back. So the doc went in and trimmed away the excess disk bits, opening the area around the spinal cord. He still has some residual leg pain at times - probably because the spinal cord is still irritated - but the worst of the pain is the incision and affected back muscles. Most of that should subside in the next few days.

There was no need for extra hardware in his back this time, but who knows what the future may hold.

I can’t believe it’s just 10AM. This has been a long day already…

Now that all is well…

A friend of ours had been a preacher. One of the things he did was to visit the sick in the hospital. When he was ill, an elderly parishioner in turn came to visit Eddie in the hospital, and inquired about his illness. Eddie told her, and she snapped her fingers. “I knew a guy with that problem. Went like that.”
