Woke up with stomach issues. I will be irking from home today. Sunday night my friend read a short story at a local writer’s workshop. I attended for moral support. I am now a patron of the arts.
Happy Toosday!
It’s a not quite light chilly 27 degrees outside.
Supposed to be N.O.S. with a high of 50.
Today is Ripple toe nail trimming, ear cleaning day.
I’ve decided that since my son is on spring break and Ripple will be in daycare, that tomorrow is clean up the yard day. It will be mostly picking up sticks and vacuuming up leaves.
I have laundry to do, and since it is the end of winter I will start throwing stuff away or adding it to the boxes to take out to friend2. I looked in the mirror the other day and said, girl, you need to buy yourself some new clothes. Everything is too big and has to go.
I’m planning on heading down towards the armpit on Saturday to drop off several bags of books to friend1, and then head out to friend2 to drop off the clothes. I was going to wait until my doctor appointment in April, but I thought that is too much to schedule for one day. It could be done, but it would mean a lot of rushing around, and I hate to rush around.
Good luck with the plumber Swampy and Juliet.
I still need to get my dishwasher fixed.
It’s a pita FCM
Once I stopped at the police station to ask somebody to sign off on a repair order and got a bunch of shit from the officer. I told him if they didn’t want to sign off on repair orders then they shouldn’t hand them out.
Hope today is a better day at irk Butters.
No mujitos for me Flytrap, I had one once and all I can say is YUK!
I am (or was) a patron of the arts. I commissioned a friend to do a drawing of one of our boats in pastels as a gift for FCD. I paid her for it and everything, and it hangs over our fireplace. We admire it as we sip cognac in our smoking jackets… <snerk>
OK, back to work. It’s already been one of those days.
Morning all. Put out 4 bags of stuff for Purple Heart (my go-to donation folks) nice and early. Will try and work on the boys 10U teams later today and then practice with them this evening. Mid-50’s again for the high.
FCM, I still have a woodland scene a relative of my father painted I don’t know how many years ago–It’s been in the family since I can remember and I’m 65. And hope the light doesn’t cost you much.
Butters, no idea what happened (and probably don’t want to know), but sometimes you get to a point (usually in age and experience) where when somebody is being a dumbst, you call them out as a dumbst. Hope it works out ok.
Alright, time too move boldly into the new day…can I go back to bed now?
wet one, hope you get to feeling better, o’patron of the [del]f[/del]arts
swampy, I get tired sometimes just reading your to-do list.
Sari, sounds like you have a busy week ahead.
Can you use a different account?
We have our own accounts, but for some idiotic reason, when he changes the main screen to the one on the right (I prefer the one on the left) it changes mine. He needs to realize that my way is the right way!
Sitting in my home office, we hear a tremendous crash. The pot rack, full of lovely (and heavy) cookware, has crashed from the ceiling taking a bunch of plaster (drywall?) with it.
2 days later, 2 shelves holding tools and construction equipment in the tool/laundry room come down. Ungodly noise.
And now my favorite $12 Walmart watch has died.
{{Butters}}, good employees are hard to come by. If you have value, hopefully they’ll see that and it’ll all work out.
Handyman’s coming tonight to talk about what it would cost to do his part of the shower and what we’d need to buy. I want to pick out/buy the surround, but if there are certain restrictions (certain heights, widths, etc.), he’ll let me know. Menards is doing their 11% rebate this week, so if I can save 11% on my surround, that’s a big chunk. Also, my daughter’s school does this thing called SCRIP, where businesses sell gift cards to the school at a discount, then the school sells them at face value and keeps the difference as a fundraiser. Each family has to raise a certain amount each year, and half of the surplus goes towards lowering tuition for next year. If I buy the Menards SCRIP, I can get a few more bucks back into her account.
Trying to find the silver lining in all of this.
But today I’m back at my desk at irk. No more of the fun work-in-my-pajamas-at-home stuff today.
What happened is I asked the HR assistant to do some legwork for me getting signature on certificate of eligible so i could hire two people. Girl said yes but when i arrived with the paperwork HR director said “we can’t do that”. So since I was stretched for time due to hubby’s needing to get to the mainland I asked boss to certify one employee online to a system i can’t access and he said “if you want employees you’ll make time”. I shot of a passive aggressive email to the HR director and copied her boss and the director. Director wrote me back offering assistance if he only knew what I needed so I wrote him back a long email thereby throwing those two under the bus. I told him HR director is heartless. He thanked me for the feedback and offered any assistance. Opps… You don’t treat people like shit. I am HR’s internal customer. Needless to say one of my hires started yesterday. Quickest turnaround in history.
We are socked in rain wise for the entire day and night. It is a slow steady rain like we desperately need. Happy Tuesday.
Or the world famous original Amish song that was stolen by those heathen English
Saw the doctor; so did the Old Wench. Her strange muscle disease and my strange bug-bite are both improving. And while she went to work I went to Don’s Diner and had some lovely food. So all in all we’re much better off than you. Except for the whole living-in-Pittsburgh thing. ![]()
When in doubt blame the Communists.
Always a popular option in my family ![]()
Well, since you teed it up…Page 2!
That ::THWACK:: noise? The budget ax whacking my job.
Spidey. :( (not sure what emotion to express).
ruble, glad that both of you are healing.
Butters, thanks for the explanation, I wouldn’t expect them to be doing you any favors in the future, but they should know not to cross you now.
Juliet, sounds like you’re doing all you can, hope it’s not as bad as all that.
Happy Fingers, gravity and time can do strange things. Hope nothing of value was broken.
Have eaten and removed bread from the freezer, but outside of that I have been slothful; need to get up and do things…in a little while…
Congrats and OUCH!
We have lots available around you for $15 an hour and all the pride you cans wallow. :smack:
Damn Tito!
A friend of mine posted a thing on Facebook saying that instead of taking the Lord’s name in vain when we’re upset, we should take our own names in vain.
What in the Winston is going on here?
For Egon’s sake!
Peter damnit!
For the love of Raymond!
Oh Dana Barrett!
(I like Ghostbusters…)
To add insult to injury, I was just asked to sit in on an interview, at the last minute, for one of my potential replacements (yes, plural; they’re going to hire a few noobs & still save $ over my cost). About to graduate college in a few months, with a chemical engineering background. Ummm, I work in a financial industry. Not saying this person can’t be good…eventually, but this really looks like a case of you get what you pay for. They’ve had about two business classes in college whereas I have more years of experience than this person has been alive! :smack:
Howdy Y’all! Been another bzzzy day. Didn’t get yahd irk done but got laundry done, dealt with the plumbers at the church house (problem resolved, YAY!), emptied the water from the steamer table (didn’t want that to happen until after the drains were flushed), emptied the dishwasher that held all the clean dishes from men’s night (this means I actually did remember to turn the dishwasher on last night), took delivery on replacement playground equipment parts (finally got ‘em after five months of tryin’ to find out how to get the parts and then order the parts) and made sup which has been et. Now chillage ensues.
{{{Spidey}}} that sucks. Hope you have a new gig lined up soonest.
Supper was burgers, chips, and fresh pineapple chunks. The dishwasher is washing and I’m about to assume the knit position.
I posted a couple of pics on FB - the poles for our pole barn are set - the roof trusses should go on tomorrow. There’s piles of parts all over the yard, but in a few days, they’ll be a building. Yay!
Glad you’re getting some results butters.
metal mouse, anything I can handle dropping off, I take to Goodwill because it’s close. Big, heavy and/or bulky stuff goes to ARC because they will do pick uo
Moooooom, once, when my grandfather was dating an artist, my mother cajoled her to do a pastel protrait of us kids. She did a good job, even though that wasn’t her usual meduim or style. It’s still hanging in one of the upstairs bedrooms at Dad’s.
Dang spidey! That was cold of your now former employer. Best of luck finding a new position.
There was frost on my windshield this morning. I had to come back into the house for my scraper and spent extra minutes futzing around trying to find the defroster. And then, I forgot to turn on my headlights. I’ve been too used to auto-on headlights since 2003. Oops! I actually got fairly caught up today abd should end the month without having to sork over.
