Tiger Woods injured

Only if every celebrity you talk about dies.

It seems like almost every celebrity I talk about about the blue does make the news.

I dn’t want Tiger to die.

You obviously don’t talk about Dick Cheney enough.

I hope this isn’t what the worst suspicion would make it seem.

Elin reportedly has already moved out. Speculation is that it could be either Tiger’s mother or M-I-L. Of particular concern though is that in other news pieces online they’re saying the person was on advanced life support.

At first I thought this was OJ Redux. But the woman in question is described as middle aged. Perhaps his mother or mother in law had a medical emergency at his house, one that was quite innocent in nature and wholly unrelated to Tiger’s zipper issues.

Yes. I sure hope so. Not that I want anything bad to happen to his family members, but I hope that Tiger didn’t pull an OJ…

Come on! We’ve currently got the longest-ever golf-related Dope-thread going about Tiger’s travails, and you have to start a new one? :frowning:

Much as I enjoy keeping Tigers troubles in the forefront, would it be possible to combine this into the ongoing discussion?

The patient is said to have at first refused medical treatment, which would suggest it was something “unrelated.” Now all I see about her condition is that it’s unknown at this time.

Apparently TMZ has found a source at the hospital that says Tiger was listed as an OD and having trouble breathing when he was admitted to the hospital almost two weeks ago.

I’ve merged the threads.

From here.

YES!

Thank you.
You realize, of course, that I’m just concerned with establishing yet another record for Tiger to be proud of - the longest golf-related thread in SDMB history.

(See, the smiley is wearing shades, to hide his black eyes …)

Elin Nordgren’s mother is in the hospital with what’s being described as “stomach pain.” Even before we knew it was her mother I’m a little surprised people went to the OJ comparisons with this. He cheated on her (OJ felt it was the opposite) and was allegedly offering money to keep the marriage together. Why would he be trying to kill her exactly?

I don’t think he’s capable of murder in the OJ sense. What I feared might have happened was that she started beating on him and he could have killed or injured her severely in self defense. A little adrenaline plus an athletic man can be a deadly combination, even if he doesn’t intend to do it.

I thought it was possible suicide attempt. The OJ thing never crossed my mind.

I am absolutely, positively 100% flabbergasted that on the list of 2009’s tabliod news stories, Michael Jackson’s death will be #2.

I’m sure that nobody could have predicted that any story could knock him from his top spot on the list.

Tigers Sponsors: is this the first crack in the armor?

Gatorade discontinues Tiger-Ade, but are still sponsoring Tiger.

Two factors:

  1. It’s a matter of what the market will bear. Prior to this, one photo or set of photos of Tiger and some unknown woman in Vegas, or one “I slept with Tiger” story from an unknown woman, would not have been salable, because most people wouldn’t believe there was anything to it. Elin being angry and chasing Tiger with a golf club, or whatever actually happened, made it clear that there is something to these rumors, so now people are willing to believe.

  2. Sad but true: Until now, publishing photos or stories along these lines would have done more harm to the journalist or photographer’s career than to Tiger’s career. Tiger’s name and face sold a lot of papers, and to cross him would have been like burning up money.

So why is all this coming out so suddenly and all at once? Because the media was waiting for this day. For example. “Mr. Woods, this is the Enquirer. We have video of you porking the waitress, but we won’t release it IF you give us an exclusive for Men’s Fitness.” Tabloids had the photos; they were just hanging on to them until they became salable. The media doesn’t love Tiger personally; they loved what he could do for him. They’re loving what he’s doing for them now. What the market will bear.
