So. I am in the middle of redoing my flat. I do not want to take jobs abroad right now. I want to be able to, after the electrician and carpenters have been in, spend time touching up the paint on whatever the electricians have needed to open (they’re bringing someone to close it properly back too) and organizing stuff. Right? Right.
Right.
U-hu.
So why am I finding that job which consists of spending 2 months abroad and then about one year bouncing among three Spanish sites (of which only one is closeish to home) so tempting, eh? EEEEEH? Specially since I’ve seen a flat here in Madrid I like, eeeeeh?
**Nava **- you’re only young once - your flat will probably still be there even if you hop around for a while - I say go for it! Besides, we’re most entertained by the tales of your travels, so you owe us!
Taters, OK, not as bad as $25K tuition, but still, a major bite in the wallet. Sounds like your son needs to drop down to the cheap meal plan then get a job that’ll feed him. Genius! You’re welcome!
**kopek **- you crack me up!
OK, back from WalMart, Joann’s, and the Amish stand in Oakville. I got yarn to finish the donation afghan - not sure exactly how I’ll do it, but I’ll figure it out. I also got the assorted stuff I needed from WalMart, plus a few more things, because that’s how that place goes. And I got 'maters and a mega 'lope from the Amish farmer. Groceries are unpacked and mostly put away. I’ve got a dozen eggs boiling, just because, and shortly, I will vacuum, then spend some quality time in the kitchen cooking stuff and/or freezing stuff. I’m so cute when I get in the domestic mode.
You are some seriously lousy help, woman And I’m middle aged at the very least. Some day now I expect to be called “Ma’am” by people old enough to shave, even.
I have bailed on the last 40 mins of a conf call…I am hopin they dont miss me :D. I bailed as I have another one starting 40 mins and I need to eat dammit!
I have my docs appointment tomorrow morning to hopefully get my knee surgery re-scheduled that I had to cancel when this move across country came up. Fun!
Somebody remind me tomorrow to get the Foley mill and jam-making supplies I forgot at my dad’s house on Sunday. I’m just going to point the car to Metrolina and tell it to go, it should know the way by now.
Worked, came home, Roomie made sketti sauce. mmmmm Had to replace Deathmoblies battery tonight.
Dude, it’s Wally World, no need to put on the formal clothes.

At the farmers’ market yesterday I bought a yellow and red striped heirloom tomato the size of a softball, so last night we sliced it up and ate it like steaks. Yum!
We also had a half-recipe of Hungry Girl’s lean-o cioppino.
It was pretty good but needed more lumpage. Wifey likes Hungry Girl. Me, not so much, but prolly just 'cause she remindes me of this crazy woman I knew long ago.
Tonight is chickie boob baked with salsa, green beans cooked with a little bacon, and corn-ona-cob.
I’m making chicken mixed with a wild rice mixture and vegetables. Well, I’m not “making” it. We got it at Costco in the frozen food section. I didn’t feel like making much of an effort, so I stuck it in the oven.
Hey** Bumba,** do you have a website for your soaps and lotions? If you do, would you please PM me with the website address?
I’m down to lotion I don’t like, but I remember liking your stuff.
Mean ol’ Oregon has sent some kind of “convection” up here, which could possibly result in thunderstorms 'round these parts. I saw a lenticular cloud above Mt. Rainier when I came out of work this evening, and I just knew we were getting some kind of moisture. Man, you can tell when someone is an old-timer around here when they look at the mountain and can tell you the weather.
I bought some frozen salmon packages today. They are seasoned with lemon and ginger, and have their own little cedar planks! So cute, and they look yummy. and they were half price. We’ll have them next week.
Tonight we had “Happy Shrimp.” Shrimp with a cream sauce and tomatoes and green onions. Mmm.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 97. The weather forecast this week has been the same each day and looks the same through next week. Then again, 'tis the late summer heat surge afoot!
It’s part of my quest for the all inclusive MMP post.
doggio just because MOOOOOOM is retired does not mean she should not put forth some effort to dress properly when she goes out in public.
Oh, Spaz, don’t forget the Foley Mill and jam supplies.
Now I must seek out more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. It gets canteloupe (ain’t got no ladder!) cause I bought two nice smallish ones yestiddy and cut 'em up. Tasty! Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Scruffy is a stoopit alarm clock. That is all. Stoopit dog…
So, yeah, up. My big plan for today involves loading the trash and recycling into the truck for a trek to the convenience center. I won’t be in a muumuu, thanks, since I don’t own one. Shorts and T will have to suffice. And shoes - don’t wanna step in someone else’s trash residue.
I’ll probably put in some kitchen time since I didn’t do what I’d intended yesterday. And I may knit some on bro’s afghan. I finished my donation afghan yesterday, barely - I ran out of the off-white yarn with only 2’ of a row to go, but I had some that was close enough in color that I used it. I doubt that anyone will even notice.
Got an email from a friend who works around DC telling me about his earthquake adventures. He grew up in Cali, so he knew exactly what was going on, so while his coworkers were wazzing out, he was just hangin’… Apparently he’s some kind of office hero now! heh
Looks like we’ll be heading to the marina tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning to double up dock lines. The latest storm track has Irene getting a little closer to the coast, but not passing till Sunday. It’s still expected to stay offshore Merrylande, but close enough that wind and rain will be a definite issue. Here’s hoping the bozo who owns the boat next to ours ties his securely also. I’m thinking we may want to put fenders along that side of our boat.
Our marina has floating docks - there are finger piers that come off the main pier forming a big “U” that accommodates 2 boats, so you have nothing between your boat and your neighbor. Our neighbor is a powerboat - it could really booger up our hull if it whacked it. And our experience has been that too many people don’t know how to tie their boats properly. Last hurricane that came thru saw my poor sweetie securing a big sailboat that the idiot owner tied up with 3/8" line that was fraying. He should have been using at least 3/4", if not 1". I’m guessing he was just cheap, as well as stupid…
Enough boat talk - I know it’s boring for a non-boater.
Supper tonight will probably be chickie soup. I’m going to look at a few recipes for something interesting that uses mushrooms, since I bought some pretty ones yesterday.
OK, people, crossing of appendages on the 9th will be well-received. They want me to go to a small EU member country famous for its chocolate for a face-to-face interview.
Hearing Spain described as “a very large country” was cute, I was able to avoid laughing but grinned from ear to ear.
