Voluntary MMP - the noob part 2

Blurf.

Current plans have me passing Irene time by making and canning the salsa that I blew off last weekend. Might do another batch of dill pickles for good measure.

Things for Spaz to remember:

Sounds like a great opportunity, Nava.

Hope your boat remains unscathed, FCM.

Power didn’t come back till 6:00 this morning. I woke up around 5 and couldn’t fall asleep again. I ws about to fall asleep when everything came back to life.

Should get up. At least it’s my Firday.

Hugs.

CrazyBoss’ name was (I imagine it still is) Irene. I’ve spent the last few days trying to decide which of them is more dangerous.

I also need to pick up my brown shoes with heels. I don’t feel like wandering around a cemetery today in ballet flats.

Okay, finally Computer Boy is done in the bathroom. I can take this shower I’ve been promising myself.

The convenience center doesn’t open till 9:30. We just had a short burst of rain. I’m not hauling trash and recycling in the rain, so I’ve got time to see what the heck will happen. Cereal has been ingested, and I’m caffenating. Soon, I shall trade robe and slippers for proper attire for venturing into the public eye…

Nava appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.

An older member of my church died on Sunday. Due to the fact that she and her husband now live with a daughter in Etlanner and relatives needin’ to make travel arrangements, the memorial service will be held this comin’ Sunday afternoon. She has a sister that lives here. A co-irker asked me if I think the sister is upset. Ummm… let’s see, her only survin’ siblin’ just died. Nah, nuttin’ to be upset about there. People be so weird!

An inch of rain and a pound of thunder for us. T’wernt no drought buster but it was very welcome. What with the heat, that was one helluva intense lightning storm.

Mornin’.

Trash has been trashed and recycling has been recycled. It’s pretty cloudy here and I’ve been hearing rumblings - not sure if it’s thunder or weapons testing at one of the local Navy bases.

And it’s lunch time. Turkey and Amish 'mater on toast with a side of Mom’s cucumber salad - she made a buttload and sent it home with me last Friday. I loves me some cucumber salad!

I need to tidy the kitchen, empty the dishwasher, and figure out something for supper using chickie broth that’s in the fridge. Soup, probably. Clever, huh? Then it’s knitting time. I just don’t feel like doing manual labor today.

Got an email from the marina manager telling us what they’re doing and what we need to do. Thankfully, they’re not expecting a tidal surge, but high winds will definitely be an issue. We’ll need to add a springline and a few dock lines, and take down the dodger and tie down the sail cover and the pedestal cover. The usual drill…

Why do we own a boat again??

So - in one day from no job, to possibly two?

I get a call this morning from a friend who works for a private bus company. He has a location nearby that serves four contracts with different school districts. This week they had a horrendous start-up and he needs to replace the manager.

While I’m at lunch bending him over a barrel and getting everything I ask for, my phone rings. It’s the business office at a local district setting up my interview for the position there I applied for.

I’m starting the first job tomorrow, and yes they know I’m interested in this one with the district. Truth is I’d jump if they match the money because the benefits would be better, and I’d be able to keep accumulating time served in the pension system I already have 9 years vested in.

Now the hard part: setting a 6 AM alarm again.

No rain here. Just heat and humidity. At least it was nice enough on Tuesday to have the windows open during the day for a few hours to get a change of air in the house.

I’m just grumpy that the entire string of appointments for the nerve block injections had to be re-scheduled and pushed back a week. Oh well.

Yay catman!

I have crossed a whole mess of crap off my to do list today. Yay me! :D:D

Other than that not much going on other than OKC had the the hottest everAugust 24th yesterday at 108 deg F. So there is that

mr ems is going to see his mom this weekend as she is not doing to well and to also talk some sense into his dad over have 3 vehicles on the property when there is only one driver. And given the one driver mr ems sister had to take a paycut at work because she has taken so much time off when his mom first got sick and she is paying for the one vehicle that is not paid off it may be a good idea to sell two of them and get rid of the payment. His dad is a bit stubborn. Can’t imagine where mr ems gets it from :stuck_out_tongue:

So I am a single gal this weekend. It will involve roasted butternut squash lasagne, sorting out winter clothes into an orderly fashion (when I unpacked I dumped them on the floor in the office) and sleeping. Wow I know how to have a good time.

Yay for the jobs busdude!

That sounds like my kind of single gal weekend, mmmmmmmms!

Glad Texas got a little bit of rain. OK, so not all of Texas, but y’all know what I mean!

The lamb burgers the other night were very good. Now I’m trying to decide if the leftover ones should be dinner tonight or tomorrow. Last night was BLTs with local bacon from a farm we really like - and it’s gooooooood bacon - with local tomatoes and lettuce from my garden. Those were good too.

Power outages aren’t fun, gt, especially when the power kicks back on in the middle of the night and the smoke detector feels the need to chirp because it got power back. I never understood that. Chirping when the power goes off? OK, I can understand the reasoning behind that feature. But why does it have to chirp again when the power comes back on??

Good luck with the boat in the storm, FCM.

My feet have been bothering me so I went to the podiatrist this morning. It’s plantar fasciitis. Yippee. But some stretching, new orthotics (my old ones are 13 years old and I don’t wear them much) and wearing shoes in the house should fix it. So that’s good. At least it hasn’t been too bad yet. I know my manager has it too so I asked her about it, and she said it’s really painful. Mine hasn’t been that bad. So I’m glad I caught it relatively early.

Bumba that sounds like one killer tomato! I love a fresh tomato with a little salt sprinkled on it. Yum!

Taters, Ory-gun is one of my favorite places. Especially in the fall. You’ll be added to the list of folks I envy. At least I resisted the urge to re-nick-name you Tots.

I hope you enjoy the fish 'n sea food, DoRebo!

Best of luck with your new opportunity, Nava! I hope you enjoy the chocolate!

Chance I’m glad you got your power back. I hope you get to catch up on missed sleep, too. Happy T.G.I.M.F. (Thank Goodness It’s My Friday)!

Mooooom I see you’re still workin’ hard on your 'tirement! I applaud your boundless energy!

Swampy the weenie jokes are continuing today…

Weenies again for supper along with more Nip-Chee crackers and Vienna “fingers” cookies for dessert. Today I tried going thru downtown and taking the detour to get home. It saved me a few minutes, but it’s much nicer to be stuck in traffic outside with the sun shining than in a tunnel.

Bri2k

P.S. Cabbie may your tootsies be feeling better soon. I hope you’re sitting somewhere comfy and you can give the dogs a rest!

Too bad. It’d be really nice to see you again.

I’m going to try to PM you. Let me know if it doeesn’t work.

Now where was I?

Oh yeah, Note to Spaz:
[ol]
[li]Foley mill [/li][li]Jam supplies [/li][li]brown shoes with heels[/li][/ol].

It was a killer tomato (queue music)

Thanks. I am. The downside being that the reason I have a standing-height desk now is that my back hurts when I sit too much. So I’m going to have to find a very precise balance between standing and sitting so both my back and my feet stop hurting.

I like Tots for a nickname for Taters. I don’t know if she’ll like it, but I’m amused.

Has anyone seen Lunch lately? We should let him know he’s missed.

Brik, I actually live in Washington state…on the green side.

I got your PM, Bumba, thanks. Yes, it would be nice to see you again. If I do make it that far south, I will be sure to let you know.

Yay for job opportunites, CatGuy!

Hope your tootsies feel better soon, taxi. I think your hubby should massage them!

I agree with taters. KeithT should massage taxi’s feet. It has been decided. Tell him he must.

Dindin was teh num! Oven fried chikin, green beans and scalloped N.O.T.. MMMMMMMMM…

Yay for the new gig(s) CatDude!

<snerk> Brick said weenies and fingers! <snerk>

[li] Hi Opal! I am appalled![/li][/QUOTE]

 Please don’t revoke my SDMB membership! I forgot.

I did not, however, forget the Foley mill or the shoes with heels. (I actually played “let’s run around the table” with my 3-year-old nephew in those shoes. Or, to quote Eddie Izzard, “In heels, no less!”) The other jam stuff was somewhere not in the kitchen and I didn’t want to dig around in the basement in my good clothes. I got a few other things from my room while I was there. It’s a new tradition: visit dad, get stuff from attic.

I found out today that my grandma went by her middle name. She was Margaret Kathleen and I always thought she was Kathleen Margaret. It was a nice funeral. Very Lutheran–no crying. Sniffles are allowed. Crying is unseemly. I got to see a lot of people I didn’t even know I was related to. Now I’m tired and headachy from all the driving.

Glad it was a nice funeral, Spaz.
If it was Looteran there shoulda been lotsa food.
