Voluntary MMP - the noob part 2

'Morning all. Up and at 'em and it’s a lovely 62 Fahrenheit here in the City of Three Rivers. My brekkie of fried eggs ‘n Spam (well, Valu-Time “luncheon loaf” actually) is awaitin’ but I wanted to check in and say

Happy T.G.I.F.!

Off to 'irking @ 'ome.

Bri2k

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 75 degrees Amurrkin with a predicted high of 99 yet again. We actually did get a little rain overnight. I woke up around midnight to go pee and heard rain. Don’t think it lasted very long though.

Spaz glad the funeral was nice. Did the church ladies feed y’all? Nuttin’ like a good ol’ church lady post funeral N.O.L. I am not a church lady, but I did agree to make a pineapple casserole for a pre funeral N.O.L. on Sunday. When I was asked if I’d do sump’n I actually suggested that as , in true Whiskypalian tradition, ham will be served. Pineapple (AKA Lil’ Ol’ Lady) Casserole goes well with ham.

I do not like green eggs and spam! I do not like them! Sam I Am! What? It was the first thing that popped in my haid.

Now I go in search of more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Good morning and Happy Firday!! I’m up again way too early because, among other things, **FCD **called me into the living room to see a nocturnal critter in the aquarium. No, I can’t see in the dark - he has a flashlight by the tank that he’ll use to sneak up on the nightcrawlers… Once I was vertical, I decided I couldn’t stand my mouth any more, so I brushed my teeth. And at that point, I decided to shower, which led to putting on clothing, followed by Scruffy barking, so here I be.

We had a major T-boomer storm last night - our power flickered a couple of times and went out altogether for maybe 5 seconds - enough that I had to reset everything. meh. And our one skylight still leaks - I want it replaced with a bigger one and the company that installed it never called us back. I’m giving them one more chance before I seek another contractor. And I’m keeping the bucket under the current skylight for the duration of Irene.

Speaking of which, **FCD **and I are going to meet at the marina later today and get everything secured. Then I guess we’ll look around the yard for anything that needs to come in or be tied down, but I doubt that there’s much. I just anticipate a lot of branches afterwards. Anyway, it’s raining this morning and it’s supposed to rain again this afternoon, so somewhere between rains, we’ll take care of it. Not that securing a boat in the rain is a new thing to us.

Yay, CatBusDude!!! About time you got your lazy ass back to work. Hope your job with bennies comes back!

**mmmmmmmmm **- there’s a glaring omission from your girlie weekend - I don’t see ice cream on the list. What’s wrong with you, woman??? :stuck_out_tongue:

**taxi **- I dealt with some foot stuff for over a year - I think it was plantar fasciitis also, and I ignored it way too long before seeing a doctor, so it took a good while for me to work out of it. Lots of stretching, if I recall. At least now, I know what to do if it recurs. You have my sympathies.

**Brick **- don’t resist - that’s how nicknames are born.

**Bumba **- I still have some soap that you sent me. We’re a body-wash family, so bars of soap are pretty much limited to hand-washing in the guest bathroom. So it lasts a looooooooong time. But it still smells yum!

And on that note, I need to find something breakfast-like. I boiled some eggs the other day - mebbe a hard boiled egg sammich with a slice of 'mater? Sounds pretty good…

I have no problem with nosiness, it’s the sign of an enquiring mind! I don’t have a job to go to and so far all I’ve done is register with a couple of job sites on t’intertoobz. It would be a chance to change what I do, but so far I have no idea what I really want my next job to be.

Anyway, I have confirmed with HR that I am accepting the severance offer and that means I have only one more payday to look forward to but it’ll be a big one!

Gratz on the new job(s) BusDude and may you find a good one BooFae.

I’m tired, the local Mensa group had a meeting yesterday and I attended (10 guys and yours truly); the bar was found without any problems, I knew about half of them from national meets, the spinach stromboli I got at the pizza place was good but, not having slept much the previous night (nerves over the phone interview I had yesterday), I was zombiefied by 9pm. I was part of the second group to leave, using the subway’s hours as a reasonable excuse, and was in bed by 12:15. Looking ahead to taking the train home so I can nap.

Now that I remember, I wanted to contact a certain Doper about maybe meeting when I’m in ChocolateLand, so I better do it before I forget again. Y’all have fun and don’t break anything important.

Blurf. I’m at irk on a Firday. How revolting…

I think I’m gonna keep a log of Irene experiences [del]to bore you to death[/del]for your entertainment. I’ll even conditionally volunteer it as the OP for Monday the 5th. The conditional part is that I have sufficient interesting stuff to report…

You realize that by Monday the 5th, Irene will be ancient history… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just can’t get motivated this morning. Probably because I got barely over 6 hours of sleep last night - not quite enough. I don’t know why I stayed up to watch *Chicago *for the bazillionth time - I can practically recite the movie with the actors. But I do like the singing and dancing.

Maybe I’ll give up - I’ll load the dishwasher, then settle it to knit till it’s time to head out. My bro’s afghan is going to be really nice, but it’s a big one! In fact, it’s bigger than the pattern - I’m using larger needles (10.5 instead of 9) and I increased the cast-on to make it wider. And since it’s all one piece, I’m soon going to have a pile of blanket in my lap. With a cat under it, of course…

Hey, any cake leftover? I want some. NOW!!!

I was allowing for lack of ekeltricitee and intartoobz to start next week’s MMP. I’ll go for this Monday if capable.

Not to pee in your cornflakes, but according to gt’s sig, the next 2 Mondays are claimed/assigned. So it seems your choice is to rassle the other Mumpers for it, start your own thread, or just post it anyway, whether it follows topic or not.

“Follows topic” - didja see the joke I made!

“Follows Topic” BWAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!!!111 I think I just hurt myself.

Take it easy - laughing too hard might cause you to rupture something, and at your age…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Up, and caffeinated. Here is my room at the new place. If I had a kegarator in there, it would be a perfect man cave.

FCM, follow topic, herd cats, same difference.

Hooray for catdude!

**doggio **- glad to see the Christmas tree! Really classes the place up.

Whoohoo it is Friday! Yay!

fcm…believe it or not I am not a huge ice cream lover. Don’t hate me.

mr ems is on his way to see his parents as part of his weekend travels he has orders to stock up on wine while he is in TX. It is really really expensive here in Oklahoma plus you have to go to a liquor store and not just pick up 12 bottles at the grocery store like you can in CA. What kind of state is this? :stuck_out_tongue:

I am headed out on my work road trip in a few minutes with any luck I might even be home earlier than I would be on a regular day!

Remind me again …what is this thing called *‘a topic’ *that we are supposed to ‘stay on’?

St. Merry’s County, Merrylande has been upgrades to a full out Hurricane Warning. We we previously holding a Tropical Storm Warning.

Fun times will ensue.

Keeping all of you there that could be impacted by Irene in my thoughts.

You know, when my Grandpa was still alive, and I was just a little tyke, he’d call me Irene to push my buttons. Irene is not my name, but the ending sounds the same as my given name. I’d try to patiently explain to him what my name was and he’d laugh and say, I was his Irene and that’s all there was to it.

I miss my Grandpa. We had a special bond when I was a kid. I was game for camping or fishing with him anytime.

Oh, my. Stay safe all of you who are in the hurricane’s path! Let’s hope she veers in a different direction.

So, doggio, are you by any chance a hockey fan? Also, glad the Christmas tree tradition continues.

Have cleaned the bathroom and sorted laundry. Went for ice cream and went for a short walk. Have some e-mail stuff to do then I’ll be meeting friends who are in town.

Fun weekend ahead!

Hugs.

GT

I was aiming to get out at 2 and it’s 2:17, including some time for working on my grocery list. Not bad! I think I’m going to have time to go swimming this afternoon!

The new room looks good, doggio! But why the cone on poor Gordie?

Sounds like a good grandpa, taters. We may have done a grandparents’ memory MMP before, but I think we need to do one again. I’m never available to start the MMP but someone should kick one off with that as the topic. Or we could veer off topic to grandparents some time.

Good luck through the storm, East Coast Mumpers!

I think after a day of wearing my sneakers instead of going barefoot at home and doing stretches, I’m already noticing a difference. I’m glad this was caught early!

We’re meeting two of my coworkers and their wives for dinner tonight at the Brazilian place that we like. Should be a good time and definitely will be good food!

This business about waking up and having to go do stuff is no fun at all.

Back from Irene preps and late lunch. **FCD **is crashed on the couch watching L&O - not sure which version. I’m uploading boat pics - I know you’re dying to see what we did… :stuck_out_tongue: Be patient - I’ll post a link in a few minutes.
