Wanting more pics in the MMP

I shall unleash the local hunters! (Dudes will apparently shoot/eat whatevs.)

… in their defense, they’ve brought ducks, venison, etc. and quietly tucked them into the corporate smoker … and have been delighted to share with me.
I think they’re mostly enjoying that ah guurrl is trying to be cool and not be all squeamish.
Me? I’m mostly enjoying random snacks of duck breast and etc.
I do ask (genuine) questions about what they do & how they do it.

Mrs. L.A. didn’t want fish Florentine tonight, but I wanted to cook the spinach and red bell pepper; so I did. When it cools, I’ll put it in a zip-top bag, squeeze out all the air, and put it in the freezer. Then after a suitable interval of more than one week (the last time we had the dish), I can make the sauce and stir it in.

Howdy Y’all! Been a (surprise!) lazy day here at da cave. We did go down to the bar for burgers and beers, so we actually did get dressed dressed appropriately for bein’ about the public. That’s sump’n, right?

nuts so I gather no biology experiments in the fridge?

I took Mr. Turkey (his name is Tom) outta da freezer Thursday and put him in the beerator in the laundry room. He is thawin’ nicely.

flyboy since I became a retired drain on society I don’t buy stuff from the Men Swear House like I did when I irked. Do they still have nice stuff?

About the same, I guess. I got most of my bow ties there.

Speaking of bow ties, Evie on Survivor wore one often. I think it was a clip-on because it looked the same every time, and because it didn’t ‘hang’ like a hand-tied one. I have one ‘clip on’, with the Seattle Seahawks logo. I thought it was nice they sent the tie tied, but imagine my surprise when I tried to untie it to tie it on! I didn’t think that ‘Pre-tied for your Convenience’ meant that it’s not un-tieable and that you just hooked the neck strap.

Do they sell the kind you tie yourself? DH is always on the lookout for those.

Evening all. Still have 3 picture packets, I’ll worry about them after I get back from T’giving, they had three chances to pick them up so they can’t be that worried about them. Outside of that and cleaning the terlets, not much else to report. Let the Burger King deal with dinner, should be able to wash dishes Moanday before I leave 2sday. Put $10 of gas in the tank to see me through Monday, I’ll fill up that evening so I can get a good start. Heading for Mountain Home, MO, just east of Springfeld, MO, where I’ll stop for the night.

Sari, glad the Mystery of the Crying Cat has been solved. Hope Echo’s good behavior continues.

So, no Muskrat love??

Nettie, hope you get feeling better. Outside of a sore arm for a day, I had no reactions to my shots (pfizer).

Cookie, never been to Portugal, hope he enjoys it.

OK, into the night. Catch all y’all tomorrow.

They sell both kinds.

FCM, squueeeeee about Tobias! I am struck by how much personality he seems to have already. Something tells me he’s gonna be something.

My gastric bypass is Monday at 12:30pm! It’ll be just shy of 5 months since my initial surgical consult. Which isn’t bad, really: some people have to wait a year or longer (depending on the person’s starting weight, physical condition, and bariatric program/insurance requirements). I’m mostly excited, and only a little nervous. I’m sure the latter will increase as Monday approaches. I’ve met with the nutritionist (to talk about the 8-week post-op diet) and my surgeon, and had a phone interview with the surgical nurse to go over meds, etc. Yesterday was the last day I could eat any solid food (e.g., protein bar, banana), and with today’s shower I started using the pre-surgical antibacterial wash that I got when I met with my surgeon. Before I go to bed, I’ll change the sheets.

Tomorrow morning I’ll take Bailey to the kennel. I’m planning to leave her there for a week, but I’ll see how I’m feeling on Saturday: with luck I’ll be able to pick her up a day early, but if I’m still really sore I might leave her there for an extra day or two. I’ll send her with enough food to cover the extra days, just in case. I’ll spend the rest of the day getting the house ready for me to do not a damn thing for a week: laundry, changing the sheets (again), making sure the heating pad is near the couch, etc. My Vocal Workshop is tomorrow evening, and I plan to attend (then we’re off for two weeks — for the holiday weekend and then so our instructor can go to an out-of-state gig — which works out well for me). I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sleep tomorrow night, but I’ll try!

I should be home by Tuesday night, which means y’all might hear from me on Wednesday. Lucky Mumpers.

Country and western.

(I had to! sorry!)

So I got out at 1:30, there was work to be done. So it was 12 supervisors. And me. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: But I did get management level pizza, so I got that going for me. Which is nice. I usually end up being the lone minion, because this is me after 30 years in retail:

Dig a hovel in the hillside, and heat it with buffalo dung chips? Worked for the pioneers!

“If I had a brain, I’d just take it out and play with it.”

I’d buy it. That one(or an identical APC) was used as a Nazi tank stand in in an episode of Wonder Woman. I wanna say the $2 bill episode.

Von Maur sells lots of traditional bow ties. They often have good sale prices on vonmaur.com.

Gave my youngest son quite a few for his residency years, along with Happy Sox, also on sale from them. A boy has to have his fun when he can.

Ain’t none of us too old for that sort of thing!

I lived in Hawaii for a couple of years after getting out of the service, t’was grand and one of my best memories is of taking Mom to Fast Eddies for Lady’s Night. That’s when the big boys danced and wow did they dance. Sadly, she barely remembers that anymore unless prompted. Or maybe its good because when I bring it up, she suddenly remembers and smiles.

You need some flags on your cart Nellie. I’m a huge believer in using movement to make people see me. Sound doesn’t really work anymore, everyone is wearing earbuds or has their windows rolled up.

I found this:

My mom sewed bow ties for my dad and the rest of his usher team, so they would have matching bow ties. The people at church enjoyed them. I think they had 3-4 each. I don’t think my dad’s worn one in decades.

Squeeeeeeee! Hope everything goes better than expected!

We have fog. Again. Could go up in the mountains to get above the fog, but that means putting on the layers. Debating.

Haven’t had breakfast yet, so we’ll start with the basics. Trying to make sense of a Sisyphean pile of papers. I keep printing out recipes to try, and then more, and more, and more.

Made another Apple Cheesecake Pie yesterday, so hubby’s happy. Today I need to make pasta e fagioli, to freeze and to have for lunch tomorrow, and grate cheese for mac & cheese on Tuesday. Hubby can warm up the pasta e fagioli and the mac & cheese is fast. I only have 45 minutes for lunch on those two days due to a 2-day worshop. Fun times.

Hubby’s out of the shower, so onwards to breakfast.

Happy Sunday! (or fogday, depending on your weather)

Not intentional ones, no. As I am the one who put lots of insects in the freezer, I can’t honestly complain too much, but at least they were in sealed containers…

The sun hath appeared today- I’ve barely seen it all week. It’s a bit chilly, as it should be, but I shall have to head out later to enjoy it. I’m trying to find a starling murmuration site, as it’s the season and weather for it. Given that over a million birds can be involved, they’re surprisingly hard to find- the sites change every few weeks, and the birds don’t start heading there until a few minutes before. How they coordinate it is still a mystery (anyone suggesting ‘twitter’ can sit on the naughty step and think about what they’ve done).

I did a bad thing yesterday; my aunt keeps giving me gardening vouchers for Christmas/birthdays (it’s a big national scheme), and I just found one, shortly due to expire. So, I went to go buy myself a nice decorative pot… and came out with 3 new houseplants. It’s getting a bit silly in here, I only have one room, and over 40 plants, not including cuttings; I really, really did not need more… I still need some more pots as well.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 46 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 74 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall deheatenate. I have no duties so can just plop my butt in a pew. Alas, Vestry also meets afterward so I must endure that. I have less than two months to go and then I shall be free. N.O,L. will be whatever as will sup. There are various leftovers plus plenty of sammich makin’s. Nappage shall also occur along with the usual sloth.

nuts you can be the crazy plant lady!

I haven’t worn a bowtie in years. Matter of fact, except to funeralize, I have not worn a tie since I became a retired drain on society. I miss them not.

oopsie appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for successful surgery and an easy healin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Workshop?
Worship?
Warship?
Washup?
WASSUP???

I crack me up!

Sorry - it’s early and I’m not fully caffeinated.

This next bit is going to be a downer, so skip if you prefer. Things are not good in FCD knee-land. I mentioned that his second surgery is likely put off - we’ll find out on Weds when he meets the other surgeon. But the patella on the knee that was done appears to be dislocated/disconnected/discombobulated. When he stands with his leg straight, he can tap on his kneecap and it makes a distinctive clunking sound. His surgery was on Sep 3, and he’s still in a lot of pain - that’s not right. So, to my mind, the surgeon screwed something up. FCD is of a more forgiving frame of mind - stuff happens you know, and he may be right. But I reserve the right to be pissed anyway. His knee should be healed by now - my almost 80-y/o cousin-in-law got a new knee and he was back to normal 8 weeks later.

Of course, the surgeon wouldn’t admit making a mistake, nor would his colleague say anything if she thought he screwed up. I’m not one to sue, truly, but this is just ridiculous! However, FCD doesn’t want to hear it and until he sees the new doc on Weds, I’m trying not to say anything, hence spilling it here. Oh, and if the surgery gets pushed back too far, it could screw up our Christmas plans. And if it’s scheduled for after Christmas, that’s another month plus of pain for him. I wish he’d gone elsewhere for a surgeon - I went to that practice once and hated the was I was treated - I never went back.

< deep cleansing breath >

OK, that’s done. It’s 32° in the yard. A little later, I’m going to move the spider plants from the garage to the basement bathroom where the grow light is. And I’m thinking of starting some herbs down there also. I need to move the veggie seedlings to their proper planters, with luck, they’ll survive the move this time. Last time, I damaged them, dammit. So I guess today’s main plan is playing in the dirt for a bit.

I need to check with my daughter - I think SIL is working all this week and I think she’ll need me to either fetch Roxy or watch Toby while she goes for Roxy. Either way, I’ll have to drive down there. I’ll be nice and wait till I’m sure she’s awake before messaging her.

HAH! I made a funny! She has a new baby - she’s ALWAYS awake! Babbies don’t sleep!

OK, that’s enough. More caffeine. Happy Sunday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 7C/45F here, lots of blue sky and a bit of sun which is good to see. I have been largely MIA this week, still feeling unwell. I’ve had a cold-ish thing for three weeks now, all my lateral flow tests are negative but I have no sense of smell or taste. As soon as that happened, I ordered a PCR test which was also negative, things haven’t improved so I had another PCR which was also negative. So…no covid, but also not exactly a cold either as I’ve got a bunged up nose and a fuzzy head with an occasional cough but nothing else. Medical mystery!

It also means I’m permanently tired, sometimes feels like I’m just dragging myself through the day at irk, and coming home to collapse on the sofa. I’ll be glad when this is over with…especially as we are off to Scotland on Thursday so I will have quite a long drive. We are going to see blokie’s mum for a couple of days, and have a 2-day music festival as well so it will be fun. Looking forward to seeing friends again.

Since I’m still feeling ropey, I have read but not retained much. It’s a .rosie’s sig kind of day!

nut, I feel ya! Once you have a hobby, almost anything anyone gifts you is related. Personally, I would rather have the gift card, as folks without said hobby have no clue what to buy or what I already have.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do lunch prep (only two days worth…YAY!) before KP. Not a whole lot shaking at CasaRoja today, but will hit the hay early for irk tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I just created an Instagram account to report someone imitating my mother, then I deleted my account. I knew immediately it wasn’t for me when the first page after signing up, the one that listed suggestions of who to follow, included 4 Khardasians. :open_mouth: Nope, definitely not my sort of forum. Plus I don’t much like watching videos anyway.
