Wanting more pics in the MMP

If there was a placebo effect, it wore off. That’s OK. I won’t get discouraged yet. I’ll just pray harder. Who’s the patron saint of itching?

I went to the gym. My workout was brief because my sister called. It’s not easy having a son with severe OCD, even though he doesn’t live with her. She also wanted to thank me again for saying I’d come down for her knee surgery in January. I have to start checking airfares.

FCM, he is SOOOO cute and squishable and kissable! How could FCD be in a bad mood (even though he has reason) around that little face? And Roxy looks like she’s such a big girl now! That little bit of baby in her face is gone. What a beauty–great bone structure.

shoe, which would you prefer, slow shifts or way-too-busy shifts? I know that’s a terrible choice to offer.

Doggio, when you finally get off work, I have a question: Who lets out Gordie when you have to work a double? Also, I hope you survived, though I guess if you’re reading this…

Nellie, I had to go look it up. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have slept properly. Seriously. I get something goin’ in my mind, and well, here we are.

Who is the patron saint of skin disorders?

Bartholomew the apostle has long been associated with skin diseases and may be considered the patron saint of dermatology. This distinction is attributed to one theory regarded his proposed manner of death. After Bartholomew cured the daughter of King Polymios of Armenia, the King converted to Christianity.

Thank you! I shall start kissing up to St. Bartholomew. What ailment did the daughter of King Polymios have, I wonder. Whatever it is, it must have been bad enough that her dad converted.

note i made this post last nignt (forgot to hit send) and today lol

lol does too… according to what they said last night it may be around 80-90 and turkey day …weell first bad day of the season was over with and it wasn’t too horrible…

congrats on the baby he has a serious look about him doesn’t he? and awww … there’s a family legend about me and my baby brother … when I was about 4 or so a neighbor whose kids i played with by grandmas house had a litter of puppies … and my friend was talking to me showing one-off and since my brother was in the stroller and apparently I traded my brother for the puppy… i went in the house with the puppy and he pushed my brother in his stroller in the other direction … moms and grandmas weren’t impressed a few minutes later… and we traded back,

The funny thing is years later mom would wonder out loud if she should of let it go through…
sort of like when she had him another family who was having a girl next to her offered to trade since they already had 3 or 4 girls for him … she used to say "sometimes I wonder if I should of but knowing my luck shed of been worse "

Cheesecake Factory is notorious for artificially inflating the wait times, to make themselves seem more popular.

Nah, he’s pretty sharp. I was just being a crabby-patty earlier. Was feeling prickly.

Having ingested a significant quantity of mood-soothing carbs (plus some crab carbs HA!) and having also watched some soothing nature documentaries on the toob, imma go sleepy soon.

Tomorrow I’ll be the sweet cupcake y’all { snerk } are accustomed to { snerk } yeah, not finishing that with a straight face…

Worked, napped. More in a few.

The Shadow Over Innsmouth, PNW edition

Sometimes I get a break to run home. sometimes he holds it(he’ll go 18 hours before going if it rains)

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and mostly clear (as opposed to mostly murky?) with a predicted high of 82 and partly to mostly N.O.S. for the day. No real plans for the day which is, as always, fine by me. I went to bed around eight-thirty last night and except for one wake up around three, snoozed away. I feel OK, so except for the tentacle growin’ out of the back of my haid, I foresee no more side effects from the booster jab. We shall break the fast for sup. I see pancakes, scrambled aigs, and snausages in my future.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

That struck me too - I had been referring to her as the baby for the longest time, but it’s no longer true. She’s just 3, but she’s a big girl now!

That’s a stupid ploy, at least for us. We’d never bother going… not that there’s one near us anyway.

Very weird night - I kept waking up thinking it was nearly morning, then I’d look at the clock - midnight, 2-ish, 4-ish… finally dragged out of bed around 6:45, after realizing that I was waking Roxy at 6:45! Critters have been tended to and I’ve had my PB&J toast. 'Tis now chillage time.

Weather guy says we’ll hit low 70s today - I should probably plan to drag the mulcher/vac around. Also the senior tech from our HVAC company is coming this morning to look at the furnace - hoping he can give us better news than his junior associate. And I scored 3 tiny onesies at the thrift store yesterday, so I’m going to wash them and take them to my daughter. We expected Toby to be a bit bigger - the 0-3 Month onesies are huge on him! So I bought all the newborn sizes I could find. I also got a piggy bank for Roxy - Daughter has been wanting one. It’s just a cheapie plastic, but it’s a good start.

Last night, FCD got a call from a surveyor who thinks he can do our inspection on Nov 29 or Dec 1 - we’ll know for sure today. He’s slightly more expensive than the other guy, but my main issue is that the other guy was very familiar with our particular boat model. That’s not a huge deal, I guess.

And he’s got an appt on Weds with the other knee surgeon - it’s be great if they could use the original scheduled time, but I’m not counting on it. Poor FCD - his first knee surgery was delayed, and now this. I almost wish we’d gone to Baltimore to get it done. Oh well, we’ll deal.

SIL was scheduled to work next week, so he will work, but he was granted paternity leave, and he’ll start it after Thanksgiving. That works out well, too, because his knee surgery is Dec 7, and he wouldn’t have gotten paid leave for that since he’s “part-time” (39 hours a week. Yeah, part time.) But baby leave will cover knee recovery time. I’ll be getting extra Toby time since my daughter likely will need help dealing with knee-boy and baby boy. Busy busy days ahead!

Happy Thursday!

Good morning everyone

It’s currently cloudy and a cool 39 degrees with an expected high of 47. We have a 100% chance of rain. It wouldn’t be November here without rain, but at least it won’t be stormy.

Right now, I’m sitting here next to an open window. It was just ridiculously hot in the den and I needed to cool off. It’s actually very comfortable.

FCM, the pictures you shared here and on FB were wonderful. I loved the expressions on Roxy’s face. I hope that FCD’s surgery is not delayed too.

Well, today is my Friday and of course, it’ll be another busy day. I worked late yesterday due to things cropping up late in the day, but at least it wasn’t super late when I shut down for the day.

Be that as it may, I have been very tired these last few weeks and last night I went to bed at 8:30. I was nodding off at 7:00 and disappointed it wasn’t later so I could go to bed. At 8:30 I gave up and went to bed. I fell asleep up there probably an hour after my head hit the pillow, but then woke up every 30 minutes from midnight until 3:00 am, which is when I gave up, got out of bed, showered and came down to the den.

I’m glad you’re feeling a little better, Swampy. Maybe the barber will shave off the extra tentacle.

Morning all. Up at 6:30am after staying awake until 11:30pm working on a crossword puzzle, so nappage may occur. Thinking about taking my car out to be washed and vacuumed, but of course this is the day with 60% chance of rain, so… May just be a good one just to hang around the house.

shoe, interesting about the Cheesecake practices…it’s relatively new here (opened October 26th), so the ‘new restaurant’ crowds haven’t calmed down yet (I’m dreading what’s going to happen when the Whataburger opens near me).

FCM, lovely pics and the Facebook film is smile-inducing too. Hope the new appointments work out.

shady, I guess you and butters may be right–I remember now living in Abu Dhabi (where it seldom got below 90F) and when the temps dove all the way to 60F the Emiraties all put on jackets and coats (I was still in shirt sleeves). Depends on what you’re used too.

OK, no rain before 8am and the car wash opens at 7, so might try to do the deed and get home to the garage before raindrops start falling on my head… Take care all.

Happy Thorsday!

Chilly morning at the park, but it is warming up nicely.
Supposed to be in the mid 60s here today.
Only 2 people and 3 dogs at the park. Echo wasn’t happy and didn’t want to leave.
I’ve started to carry a few treats in my pocket to entice her into the cage.

Both of them got groomed at daycare yesterday, except for Ripple’s toenails. We’ll have to do them ourselves as he is not very cooperative.

Toby is a cutie.

Lawn guy is supposed to come over tomorrow to look at the tree that needs to be cut down. It’s not something he usually does but since several other clients have asked him about it, it makes it worth his while to rent the equipment to do it.
I’ll let him look at it, but the tree is pretty damn big. Half the top is gone already, so it really needs to come down.

Still haven’t heard what my son’s irk looks like next week, so still no decision on what to do for Thanksgiving.

Try going at “off peak” times, like mid-afternoon or just when they open. I find that those are usually better and you won’t have to wait. They may also offer a call ahead option for putting you name on the wait list.

We have a possibility of rain later today into tomorrow. This rainy season is feeling a bit more like normal. All available appendages are crossed that we avoid another drought year. In any case, cloudy and N.O.S. here today. Tonight I may make lemon grass chicken. I may not, but lemon grass chicken is the current plan.

'Beamer is currently puttering around trying to find breakfast. He deemed that we had an insufficient amount of cream cheese for a bagel. Now he is staring at the cereal. I predict rice krispies and… I win!

Nothing on the agenda today. Just waiting for the appraisal to come back on the house and then hopefully the re-fi will go through.

Happy Friday-Eve everybody!

Overlygirl’s first COVID jab is tonight, which I’m kind of over the moon about, but the one thing we didn’t plan for was her soccer team winning districts (her season was supposed to end two weeks ago). Guess we’ll see how she’s feeling before we leave. I didn’t want them not to win per se, but the shot’s not negotiable.

Today may or may not be eventful at work - it’s hard to tell these days. Hopefully I’ll be able to slip away for a waddle at some point. I got distracted by work just before I was going to work out and lost out on that window before my first meeting. Things start hurting if I don’t do it everyday now. Stupid body, needing maintenance and stuff.

Just dragged the mulcher/vac around the back yard. It seemed almost futile - leaves were falling in a blizzard as I worked. But I dumped two loads of mulched leaves, so that’s something. I’ll attack the front yard this afternoon. Now we’re waiting for the furnace guy to come.

FCD is pissed at me. I wanted him here to talk to the furnace tech. He wanted to drive north of Annapolis and look at the boat we’re hoping to buy. Of course, that would mean trespassing in a private marina, but he doesn’t see that as a problem. Oh, and the marina is kept locked, so the only way to get in is to break in. And even if he managed to get in, he could be arrested and his car could be towed, or if he fell in the water (entirely possible, considering his knees) chances are no one would be around to hear him or help him. But I’m the bad guy here. Sometimes he makes me crazy. So I’m hoping the tech is running late.

Meanwhile, I’ve got bits of dried leaves in my hair. ugh.

Pick the nicest time of day for you - this is your health and your body, so make it convenient for you - and block that shit out on your calendar, at least once a week.

We want our talky to stick around as long as possible, and as pain-free as possible!

It’s a good look for you!

(Alternate option: place a wreath of flowers on your head, and declare yourself to be an Autumn Fairy. But ya gotta really sell it.)

Love the crafty reply.

Rained showed up before I could get the car out of the garage, so car wash will have to wait until the rain moves on. Have finally removed all the soccer stuff (at least all I can find) and put the second row of seats back up, so it looks more like a passenger vehicle again. Probably need to take it somewhere to get the insides really clean, but that can come later.

Need to fix some sustenance, probably BLT’s on rye bread, then CHB’s this evening.

Awwww, shoe, you just gave me some serious warm fuzzies.

I did the thing and got myself down to the mill, 'pon which I trod, for a bit anyway, until I got tired of being in the basement. Of course, then I had some Cheetos. I don’t know what it is about fake cheese, but damn, those go down easy.

Agree with the crown of flowers for FCM. Autumn Fairies only exist if you really believe in them, and I definitely do!

For my next trick…work is slow so I’m trying to figure out what to do tomorrow night. As a birthday gift, my husband booked a hotel room for me across town, where I will sleep all alone and as early as I want to (well, after work anyway). And we’ll meet for breakfast (the kids & overlymom and overlyhusband) in the morning before soccer games & other sporting events/banquets commence. It’s a fancy hotel and I’m trying to decide if it’d be too lowbrow to smuggle in some cheetos and a bottle of wine. I’m landing on the side of “Don’t care, I’m gonna do it and my overnight bag is vast enough to accommodate it.”

I don’t like sweet potato casserole with marshmallows, but it’s been requested for Thanksgiving, so I was looking up recipes. OMG!! One of the had a cup of white sugar, a cup of brown sugar and half a cup of butter!! Plus a full bag of marshmallows on top! I almost fell into a diabetic coma reading the recipe!

I did find one that seemed less awful. It had eggs, half a cup of brown sugar, half a stick of butter, plus a little milk and vanilla. That’s the one I’ll make. I’ll just scrape the marshmallows off my serving.

Question about green bean casserole - another of those things I don’t make because I refuse to use cream-of-anything soup in any of my recipes… Anyway, I’ve seen several variants, including mixing some of the fried onions in with the green beans and soup as well as on top, or adding shredded cheddar to the mixture and as a topping. Comments either way? Other suggestions?

Finally, I had a request for cheese sauce to go on the broccoli - if you make your own, what’s a good recipe, preferably that can be made ahead. Or a jarred/canned/pre packaged version that’s not awful.

That’s what happens when I ask what people want - they want stuff I don’t necessarily like myself. How rude of them!!
