Our neighborhood DQ went out of business last year, but not because of covid. They sold the property and there’s a bank going up there. Like our neighborhood needs more damn banks.
Every time new construction starts in Ocala, my MIL says she hopes it’s a DQ. So far, no dice…
It is warm and beautiful and my mom got her second dose of coronavirus vaccine - yay! I have today and tomorrow off work. Unfortunately my team needed me to jump on a half-hour call, which is kind of sucktastic, but it’s a 30 minute discussion and those teams for which I am not responsible may suck it. I’ve been speaking gibberish for about three days now because my brain is fried, and I need to un-fry it somehow.
I’m going to try taking the kids to the zoo tomorrow afternoon. My son at 14 is too old and too cool for the zoo, but the kid hasn’t been on a legit outing since October and is super stressed from school, so I think he needs to outside if possible, so it’s either a zoo or a hike, dammit.
Okay, just a few more minutes before I can hide from work again. Please, just a few more minutes.
Happiness is a clean oven - there’s a chore I’ll have to do when we get home. rah. But MIL’s stove, oven, and nukelator are all clean. She just popped a poke roast in, so it’ll be messy again soon. I thought about asking my daughter to turn on my self-clean cycle, but it really shouldn’t operate without adult supervision. Can’t have the house burning down, you know.
It’s a bright and warm 79°, but it feels hotter in the sun. The house got really hot while the oven was cleaning, but since it’s done, the house is now closed up and the a/c is coming on. That’s so wrong in Feb.

**Sticky
Buns** – I don’t know you (I’ve only been around three or four months), but a welcome back seems appropriate, so: Welcome back!
Video, or it didn’t happen! ![]()
My thanks to her for her service. (Flying dustoff, was she? Or did she go into nursing post-Iraq?)
quietly: Breakfast of champion whats?
MG: Perhaps your hospital was a little classier than swampy’s…
Flyboy: PCP = “Primary Care Provider”?
Breakfasted and caffeinated – before which I did the blood draw for all the lab work the PA and the cardiologist ordered.
47F (wind chill 40) and fair, with a low tonight of 24.
DQ across the river is in a mall and stays open year-round, but the one over here closes for 3-4 months during the winter. Going to have to visit it this afternoon…
Either our bathroom scale is grossly confused or I’ve lost about fifteen pounds in the last two weeks…
Yes.
She flew with the 101st Airborne. I guess she was carrying troops and supplies. She started looking into nursing after the 2004 Indonesian tsunami.
Howdy Y’all! We slothed all day, and continue with sloth this evenin’. Sup got et and the kitchen is all cleanded up. I also provided some info on the REME Halo Air Duct Purifier to EYP, the Senior Warden, and a member of the Vestry who is a very science/techie type person. I do some strange stuff as church janitor Junior Warden.
Early Evening all. Spent most of the afternoon watching soccer (Europa League) after doing banking and a little shopping earlier in the day. Also employed the vacuum around the house and cleaned around the kitchen, so for me I was ambitious. Need to fix some BLT’s here shortly, got rye bread for them, so yum.
Got a couple of DQ’s (I presume you mean Dairy Queen) nearby, but haven’t visited them in quite awhile…now you folks have me thinking about them again…
Herald, is there good reason you might have lost 15 lbs? How are the clothes fitting these days?
talky, yeah for Mom-unit, and zoo’s are pretty neat for any age, albeit 14 is a tough sell.
BBBoo, good luck on the new unit. Got mine replaced about 7 years ago IIRC, so I should be good for another 15-20 years.
OK, need to toast some rye bread and get the L and T ready for the B. Take care all.
Welcome back sticky buns!
That’s scary about your FIL Moooooom.
So MrsLA was based out of Fort Campbell flyboy? That’s about an hour from where I live.
Irked, came home, walked Nelson, cleaned the kitchen counters and the bathroom and et. Once KP is done, I’ll play in the studio. Exciting stuff, I know.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Well, Tango is back home. The guy is a better man than I am, that’s for sure! Within minutes of getting home he was chasing the other cats and tear-assing around the house. The Cone of Shame is a total non-starter. We’d both get seriously hurt if I tried to put it on him. Maybe when he calms down a bit I can get him to take his meds. But I doubt it. The techs said he was the poster kitty for handling the procedure. Smooth as silk. Now I have to find a way to apologize for what had to be done. Maybe an extra dollop of whipped cream tomorrow.
Your congregation is putting in a high altitude low opening air purifier? That will be interesting! [all joshing aside-it sounds like a good idea-good on them]
What are the chances I’ll wake again at 2 in the stoopit AM? I forgot to fetch Mel, so who knows.
Y’all know how I sometimes post about shoppin’ at the Harvey’s Sto’. Harvey’s is now Food Lion, AKA the Food Kitty. We had a couple of Winn-Dixie grocery sto’s, but they got bought out by Harvey’s. Now those stores are also Food Kitties. I think I am afraid to shop there anymore. I mean, who knows, what kind of grocery sto’ wormhole I would be walkin’ into! If it’s Food Kitty when I go in, what will it be when I go out? Will I enter another dimension? Will I run smack dab into Dr. Who? Will grocery shoppin’ become an episode of The Twilight Zone?
Boo I think the Halo thingys might be a good idea, so I will run it by TPTB to get their thoughts.
My big excitement for the day was urban hiking (aka walking) to a park I hadn’t been to before, 6+ miles round trip. It turned out to be tiny, but not as small as one in my old town that had barely enough room for one swing set (2 swings) and a trash can. On my way home, a storm blew in, and I do mean blew. I thought about catching a bus, but my inner drill sergeant barked orders at me, so I kept going.
Swampy, seems to me anything called a Halo ought to be a sure fit for a church.
Moooom, another day closer to going home! Hope you sleep well and long.
My experience was the same as yours. I had to drink some juice and eat a cracker, then it was, “Here’s your clothes. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” And that was way before COVID. Maybe Georgia has a thing about Swamp gas.
flyboy, $100 is a nice chunka change. Couldn’t you call your insurance and explain the situation? They might have a solution for you.
I haven’t been to a DQ since before I moved here. Once a year, I’d get a chocolate chip cookie dough Blizzard with chocolate syrup blended in. Yum.
Their solution was to get a new PCP, then change back after the exam (or not). My PCP is ⅔ mile from our house, so I don’t want another doctor 10 miles away.
Glad Tango’s feeling his cheerios already silenus. Is he fairly young? I know when Nelson had his procedure at 3.5 months old, he was zipping around that evening.
swampy, for a few years, the greater Nashville area Piggly Wiggly stores and the H.G. Hill’s stores were owned by the same company. They were constantly switching back and forth until H.G. Hill’s went out of business. You never knew from one week to the next which store you were walking into.
Chilling with a nice warm dog in my lap.
Sweet dreams y’all!
7 months or thereabouts. 7 lbs. of coiled crazy. Just what we all needed around here, really. He’s already destroyed the Cone of Shame they wanted him to wear (for 2 weeks!!) The tech said he was the poster kitty for the procedure - flying colors.
Another round of “misplaced phone going walkabout” drama, with DH coming to the rescue again. Also, another round of musical desks at irk. For some reason, my sup (V) and another (E) are swapping sections of the call floor, while the third sup (M) is rearranging people in her section.
Magic Internet Chinese food tonight (I craved fried rice), with ample leftovers, so I consoled myself for the total by reminding myself of how many meals we’ll get from this, and that a payday splurge seemed like a good morale move.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and foggy, with a predicted high of 78 and possibly mostly N.O.S. for the day. Or not. Could be cloudy. TWPTB are bein’ all willy-nilly today. Another day of no big plans, although I feel it is time to do a general tidyin’ up of closets, so that may happen. We shall get some take out fish 'n chips for sup, just cause.
Nettie I well remember the days of musical desks in a call center. I guess sometimes you just need to change up which wall you get to stare at all day.
Quietly glad to know Tango is bein’ his usual self.
red that’s the way Food Lion/Harvey’s/Winn-Dixie have been around here for years. I am convinced that one of these days in one of those stores, I will be comin’ out and meet myself goin’ in.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Strange. Over here in Engerland they are closing banks as fast as they can. Most get repurposed into wine bars or ethnic food eateries.
What’s DQ?
