Heh, I didn’t even make it to the refrigerator. Raid the honey roasted peanuts jar while watching the news! And have a few El Chingons. I swear it’s what my nutritionist (read: the id of my appetite) recommended.
Leftover takeout Vietnamese: caramel shrimp, stir fried broccoli and mushrooms, and rice from Saturday. The portions were so big I’ve had 3 meals so far and one more to go.
Baked tilapia with a breadcrumb/parmesan crust. And - don’t shoot me foodies! - Rice-a-Roni and steamed broccoli. We LIKE Rice-a-Roni! My husband had seconds on everything.
No gunfire from here - I like Rice-a-Roni, too! I remember David Letterman once hosting his show in San Francisco, and being turned away from restaurant after restaurant that didn’t serve “the San Francisco Treat.”
Last night: Buffalo wings, raw carrots and celery, with blue cheese for dipping, and some tater tots, with an IPA and some ice water. Later, some juicy purple grapes.
Two nights ago we had steak, fresh roasted beets and squash, beet greens and garlic, and No-kneed bread. It took such a pretty picture I had to share it.
Last night was Tuna and Mango Ceviche served over a bed of rice and spring greens.
Kamchatka Vodka on the rocks to drink.
Salmon with honey/mustard/hot sauce glaze, snap peas, and green tomato bread. Clementines on the side.
Roast beef sandwich on French bread with tomato and several condiments including horseradish sauce.
Steamed mussels with grilled garlic bread.
Baked Rigatoni and a side salad.
Cabernet Sauvignon to drink
Tonight we are having pulled pork sandwiches. I just put the pork butt in the crockpot and my mouth is already watering.
My gf and I both love mussels, but they’re always a shared appetizer.
Last night we ordered pizzas from a new local place. One with pepperoni and jalapeno. the other a veggie with bell peppers, purple onions, mushrooms, sliced cherry tomatoes and black olives. Totally great pizza, we’ll be ordering from there again.
Spaghetti. May sound boring, but it isn’t for this noodle fanatic. It will be spaghettini al dente, the thin noodles providing a wondrous texture, with a newly discovered richly mellow marinara sauce, and lots of small whole cremini mushrooms sauteed in garlic butter, the whole of it garnished with freshly grated parmesan. And a few glasses of cabernet. The essence of simple goodness.
Something somewhere between scalloped and au gratin potatoes with ham. I’m sort of combining two recipes.
We like them as an appetizer too, but sometimes mussels, salad, good bread, and beer or wine make a nice, if smallish, dinner.
Change of plan. Was feeling peckish this afternoon so had a sinfully unhealthy comfort meal – Angus beef meat pie with fries smothered in gravy. And not a vegetable in sight! The sort of thing that would horrify any doctor – at least, any doctor advising his patient; the doctor himself would probably love it! So dinner tonight will be something light, and spaghetti is on hold til tomorrow.
Dinner out at a nice Italian place downtown: scallops with spicy tomato chutney, lobster ravioli, crusty bread with olive oil, and a glass of ice water.
Add pomes frites and I’m in! Cheers.
Baked chicken with barbecue sauce. Tomatos and cucumbers with dressing, and iced tea.
Banana bread for dessert.
