Two words: Singapore Noodles! Accented with my newly discovered garlic chili sauce. Yes, I was going to make dinner last night, but dammit, there’s a place just down the street that turns out these terrific Singapore Noodles. I’m just glad I’m not too old to over-indulge in all that spicy curried goodness and survive!
From a food truck : real Chicago Hot Dogs. Washed down with lots of beer.
Beef pot roast, slow cooked with carrots and onions’n’garlic, and red wine and Worcestershire sauce, over egg noodles.
Pudding cup & hot tea for dessert.
Sausage and veggie pizza, ice water, and an IPA.
Breakfast for dinner tonight. Eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast, with several St. Arnold’s Art Car IPAs for a beverage and a nap for dessert.
I’ve got a 3 pound turkey breast brining. It will be roasted with some taters and I’ll make gravy from the drippings. Must get to the grocery to pick up some cranberries and bread for sammiches later during the week.
'Bout to crack open a can of sardines.
I have crackers, onion’nchive cream cheese, avocado, capers, lemons, and will thinly slice some raw onion.
Plus two kinds of cheese (Brie & Gouda) awaiting any remaining crackers that just desperately need toppin’ if those items aren’t enough.
PB&J on a single piece of whole wheat bread, three slices of sharp cheddar cheese, a kosher dill pickle, some Cool Ranch Doritos, and a glass of ice water. Later, a few handfuls of raisins.
Tofu Curry.
Last night was take out vietnamese pad thai ( I dunno it was a vietnamese restaurant and they had pad thai) as we were in Dallas. Had some unspeakable calories at the state fair there for lunch today. Tonight we are back home and dinner was a roast beef sandwich with cucumber , tomato and , wasabi saved from the last time we had sushi. The roast beef was from a chunk of cow I grilled on sunday before we left and miraculously the 17 yo son we left behind had not devoured it all.
Chicken fingers rolled in breadcrumbs, grated romano and parmesan, accompanied by spinach souffle, buttered naan and fresh blackberries.
A takeout calzone with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and minced garlic, two slices of cheese pizza with hot pepper, then a Caesar salad with croutons and a glass of ice water. Later, a piece of chocolate cake with a glass of cold milk.
Yesterday’s leftover spaghettini in semplice pasta sauce with mushrooms sauteed in garlic butter. Nice thing about leftovers like that is that preparation requires only putting a casserole dish in the microwave.
Tonight will be my usual grilled marinated jerk chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, at pub trivia.
Fish tacos
Hey, I was at pub trivia myself last night, needscoffee! My dinner: a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, garlic parmesan tater tots, and a glass of Truth IPA. Later, some Key Lime Pie ice cream and a glass of ice water.
Tonight was frozen HEB coconut shrimp* with a few El Chingon IPAs, and finished off with a dessert of peanut butter sandwich while I watched the hockey game. My only regret is that I don’t get to sleep late tomorrow.
*Oh, I dipped them in a mix of about 2/5 ponzu, 2/5 mirin and about 1/5 soy. It’s a good mix for dipping a lot of things in, but I don’t recommend drinking it straight.
Garlic Parmesan Tots sound unexpectedly compelling as bar food. They would have been a huge improvement over the nacho tots on the menu at my pub, which just turn into mush under the top layer. I’m going to suggest it to them. (My pub’s appetizers aren’t very good, so our team has a hard time using the shared pub gift cards we win.)
Met a friend for a catch up at a franchise bar, average beer and average wings. The company made up for it.
Gotcha. PM me if you’d like me to ask for the recipe.
