What's the occasion in the MMP?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 45 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and N.O.S. for the day. We’re back to Spring/Fall. Today we shall get our ears lowered. Both of us have coupons for Great Clips so appointments shall be made. We like to be well-groomed, but we’re cheap about it. Who knows what the day will hold beyond that. Either do stuff or sloth. That’s the beauty of retirement. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Nettie hope you find a new gig soonest. I did the call center thang for a couple of years but had to get out myself. The place has since shut down due to the overall stoopidness of management.

flyboy by gettin’ the sallit instead of fries, you made the cheese burger healthy. That’s the rule.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Since I am once again committed to goin’ out in public I suppose I shall also purtify and don acceptable bein’ about the public attire. Oh the bother of it all!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

wow, he got to have soda … after mom’s first heart valve surgery .. I was actually frisked before I saw her because someone might have been violating the “clear liquids only” directive …it didn’t last long after they felt the wrath of mom who hadn’t had her liters of colored caffeine for days … its been said heroin junkies going through withdrawals were nicer …

They never gave in on the no chocolate rule tho …

Now knowing they only sell boo berry cereal in October these days that cereal must have been stale as all hell …

Holy Flurkin’ Schnurtt!!! It’s THIRTY-FOUR DEGREES here!!! Someone stole spring and I want names - NOW!!! I scheduled chimney and stove cleanings for tomorrow figuring we’d be past heating by fire. So I guess it’ll be back to crankin’ up the furnace till spring returns. Dammit!!

I had a pretty good night, apart from an angry tummy because I ate like crap yesterday. It seems to be settling down. No, I’m not sick - I just didn’t eat much real food and my digestive system has let me know that it wasn’t impressed.

RoxStar will be here in an hour or so. I was going to run to Food Lion first thing but I decided to strip the bed linens instead. Don’t try to understand - just accept that my logic is impeccable. I’ve got cleaning and laundry to attend to today, along with the toddler. (Toddler?? She’s 3’4" and 36# - a tiny behemoth!!) And if FCD is discharged tomorrow, I need to make sure all trip hazards are removed (toddler and dog toys) and I’d like to run the vacuum over the rugs. So a fun day ahead for me.

Nettie - seriously - find yourself a new career before your head asplodes!! Life’s too short to put up with idiot bosses and coworkers. Surely there’s something out there that’s perfect for you!

OK, guess it’s time to get something going here. I’ll get a load in the washer and tread the mill, since I’ve been negligent in that regard of late. ONWARD!

Happy Thursday (It is Thursday, right??)

Yes, it’s Thursday and, also my Friday.

Unsurprisingly work was incredibly busy yesterday. I was literally replying to emails as multiple IMs from multiple people rolled in and replying to those IMs while talking on Teams phone or Jabber phone and it was liked that for most of the day. Throw in Teams meetings and a two-hour training session (also replying to emails and IMs during those), along with some very last-minute “must-have nows” and you get a taste of my day.

But, other than some raised eyebrows from me, there were no third-degree stupid burns, so that was good. It’s a good thing, that for the most part, I work with and for really good people.

It’s about forty-six degrees here, with highs expected somewhere in the low to mid-sixties along with some clouds. Rain is supposed to start moving in, but I’m hoping it holds off until at least Saturday.

Seanette, I really hope you land a position that doesn’t stress you out so much. I know what that is like. My former organization was a toxic mess with some really horrible people who did and said horrible things. It can really wear one down both physically and mentally, so I really hope you get out of there.

Actually, it wasn’t.

Morning all. Have arisen and taken my medication, so now I can’t eat for about an hour. Air Conditioning folks will be here between 10-12, so will have to be moderately presentable around that time. Seems they take about 10-12 minutes and charge me a large amount of money, mostly for the Freon. We’ll see.

42F this morning, heading for 64F. Soccer with the girls this afternoon. Otherwise nothing much on the agenda.

Seanette, echoing the rest of the crew that you find a less stressful (and hopefully closer to home) job soon.

OK, still too fuzzled this morning to be any wittier, so all y’all take care.

Finished chugging the coffee, now waiting for my meetings to start while alternating between work and reading up on zoning laws, the impact of redistricting on school diversity and achievement and the buildings that live in our area. I don’t have much of a life, but I sure can read.

I did get in a short revenge run yesterday and am so glad I did. It made me feel less stabby and I got to be quiet for a while and listen to a book. I’m getting my hair cut today, and that’s my big excitement. I haven’t decided what color yet, though at some point I’m going to get a giant streak of blue.

So far I’ve learned from less than 24 hours of this committee experience that people sure like to complain a lot (self included) but other than that they don’t seem to give solutions. If you’re gonna complain you have to offer an alternative. My mom actually has a similar saying framed and on her wall. If I recall correctly it reads, “Don’t tell me my problems if you don’t got no solutions.” Or something like that. My granddad used to say it all the time, so she decided it was wall-worthy. I agree.

FCD is going to be released this afternoon. I’ll drop Roxy off around 2, then head back to Baltimore. Pretty amazing, considering they cut his back open 2 days ago…

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s bright and shiny out there. Weather app says “It’s almost warm enough to be fucking decent outside. This is as glass-half-full as I get” and promises me 14C/57F all day, mostly sunny. That looks like a fair representation of what’s outside.

Seanette add me to the list of mumpers who are mentally willing you into a new job that has none of that toxic nastiness!

Moooom that’s very quick for FCD to be let out again, are you sure he didn’t find something to bribe the medical staff with?

I’ve had a busy day doing a lot and achieving very little. Finally got review paperwork from everyone so I need to work on that and have chats with two of my minions tomorrow. I’ve had my review discussion with the boss this afternoon, no surprises there and we all agreed that it would be good to keep reinforcing the fact that our management team works incredibly well together and we provide each other with a huge amount of support. There are rumours that our operations manager wants to make some big changes in our teams so we’re open to the idea of shifting team members around but not making any changes to our management structure for now. We just about have a grip on what’s happening day to day, it’s not the time to change all of that

I’m sure the desire to minimize plague exposure plays a part. But in our experience, hospitals want people OUT as quickly as possible, and for myself, I always felt better recovering at home. FCD is the same way.

So shortly, I’ll be putting Roxy’s shoes and jacket on her and we’ll head down to Daughter’s school. I’ll give her the kid, then head north… again… to fetch my sweetie. His new walker is assembled and ready, and the old one is in the garage to help him get into the house. I put fresh sheets on the bed and I’ll get a sheet to toss over his recliner, just in case his incision seeps.

Yeah, this ain’t my first rodeo…

Dang, it’s chilly out there today. I slept with the windows open and awoke to icicles on my nostrils. OK, a slight exaggeration, but it would’ve been fun to pretend I was a walrus. I like this kind of weather, as it makes walking pretty chill.

More like insurance companies want people out ASAP, but for those who have a good caregiver in the family, it probably is more comfortable, and I imagine those people heal faster. I’m glad your honey is coming home today. Do you think he’ll be good about using the walker, or is he one of those “I don’t need no stinkin’ walker” types?

nettie, you’re worth more than that can of worms where you draw a paycheck. I hope you find a job that recognizes that and pronto. Life is too short.

BooFae, hope TPTB listen to you and leave the management structure alone.

Truer words were never spoken. My corollary pet peeve is when they won’t complain to anyone who could do something about it.

My life in a nutshell.

More of my life in a nutshell.

My favorite? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

FCM~happy dance that your sweetie gets to come home :dancer:t2: :man_dancing:t2: :dancer:t2: :man_dancing:t2: :dancer:t2: Hoping the fetching and settling in all goes smoothly. Give him a big “atta boy!” from me as he gets in the house and heads for his recliner.

I was delighted when a little mourning dove settled on my window still, mourning away to beat the band. Well, maybe for the first hour or so. Then the little fellow started to get annoying. Turns out, they only know one song, and they really, really like it. Still, I couldn’t scare him away without feeling bad about it, so I let him be. He eventually left on his own, rewarding me for my kindness with little bits of bird shit all over the sill. Nature hates us all, and always finds a way to show it.

I got a text from the cable/internet company that it’s sending me new equipment. There’s nothing wrong with my old equipment, but they want to upgrade it. One time they called to set up an appointment for a repairperson to come: I hadn’t noticed a problem, but they had. Anyway, even though the box or modem or whatever it is won’t arrive until tomorrow (and I have to be home–another one where signature is required, dammit), a friendly, nonexistent person named Amy keeps chirping that she’s ready to help me set it up. These people need to take up yoga or knitting or something.

This is precisely why I dislike doves. There were Eurasian doves in the neighborhood where I used to live ( Wyoming, not Eurasia, and I hope there’s a dove exchange program so we can share the monotony–I mean love–with our friends in Kyrgyzstan), and they made me crazy. A few times I was driven to yell, “Shut uuuuuup!” and on one humiliating occasion, I shouted the Barney song at them. Doves are not the symbol of peace to me.

Sorry about your windowsill.

Doves are violent little gits, they’re a terrible symbol of peace IMO.

Yay for FCD escaping- thinking healy thoughts in your general direction.

It was gloriously sunny, but not too hot today, so walkies was very pleasant- I’ve noticed my favourite walks getting a lot quieter since stuff started opening back up, so that’s nice as well. There’s more wildlife when there’s no-one else around. Nothing much else to report- I’ll try go somewhere new tomorrow as it looks like it’ll be nice then too.

Afternoon all.

The A/C guy was here and besides the freon and overall system check, he said I had a bad capacitor that needed replacing (at $89.95). Couldn’t know if he was B.S’ing me or not but figured what the heck, so got it done. Bill was $354 (Freon is hideously expensive) but should be good for another Ali-bama summer.

He also recommended that my ductwork in the house be replaced…at a cost of about $8,500. Will wait on that because (1) that’s a crapload of money and (2) my combined heating/ac bills seldom if ever run over $200/month, so recovering that cost would take a long time. Still, come the fall I might get a couple of quotes and see what it would run.

Soccer in about an hour…they are still predicting storms Saturday morning, so I’m trying to re-schedule my games. One is tough, the better day (more girls can make it) is one where one of my better players (and one who brought me cupcakes on my birthday, no less) can’t be there. Still, I’m there for all the kids…but cupcakes…

FCM, recovery of FCD should be on-going, hope all goes well.

Dont’ have many doves in this area, sounds like it’s a good thing I don’t.

Nellie, upgrading equipment is a irk that all cable companies throw at the consumer–I think my last one was 3 years ago.

boo fae, Management lives to reorganize functioning units into something that doesn’t work half as well…good luck to you folks avoiding it.

talky, just be careful, another law of committees is that if you suggest a solution you find yourself put in charge of it.

OK, need to dress appropriately for training 11 girls in soccer. Take care all.

Waiting for a wheelchair. It’s been close to 2 hours. WT actual F?? I don’t want to be driving in the dark. We just asked again.

FCD has declared that he will be really careful in recovery. I think he was scared how close he was to being paralyzed. So we shall see.

Howdy Y’all! We got shorn and then decided to have brunch at that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner. We had not been there since the start of the plague and I am pleased to report it is as classy as ever. Actually it’s even fancier since OYKW’s sallit had a tomato, a thing unheard of there before. He got all gourmet and ordered the hamburger steak ‘n gravy with a baked potato. He got two little squirt things of sour cream. I think the waitress (is that sexist?) was flirtin’ with him. I mean an extra sour cream and the fact that she called him and not me “Hon” is all the evidence I need to call flirtation. I decided on the ham 'n cheese omelet, grits, and wheat (cause I’m classy too) toast. I only got one little packet of strawberry jelly. No, he has not heard the end of this and won’t likely for at least the next two to three days.

MOOOOOOM here’s hopin’ y’all are at least on the way home if not home by now. Long time to wait for a wheelchair!

seanette, I hope that you find new, more sane irk soon.

Glad FCD is coming home Moooooooom. May he have a speedy recovery.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson, cleaned kitchen counters, stove, sink and the bathroom before supper. Now for KP and chillage.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Bad capacitors are ridiculously common, and $89.95 installed is a good price. Unless your ducts are full of holes, why do they want to sell you new ducts?
