Administrivia in the MMP

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 7c/44f and mostly cloudy with no predicted change today. Weather app says “Oh look. All the fucking clouds are dry humping”. That just about sums up today’s weather here!

metalmouse I have been looking at your pics on the Book of Faces, they’re really inspiring me to plan a trip in that direction too.

flyboy sounds like it was a good decision to work from home today, I’ve seen reports of snow and bad conditions in your part of the world.

Taters I know what you mean about rural places getting built up so much. We have a lot of farmland not that far from where we are, it’s always sad when I see more housing and stuff getting built on it.

shoe Glad to see you are still out there!

Wordy just ouch! I hope you’re feeling better by now and not too badly bruised.

I’ve had a really busy day - my boss is off and my co-irker on my grade has been off sick for six weeks. That means I get to attend all of today’s boring meetings. Plus I had a meeting with our exams officer who wanted me to confirm everything I told him yesterday, and put in an email, just so he could be sure I really did mean what I said! I’m glad today is over, although tomorrow will not be that much better. More meetings that I don’t want to be at. The bonus is that having changed my campus days this week, I will take my laptop in on Thursday and it’ll be there until next Wednesday without having to be hauled back home in between.

And as if that’s not excitement enough, I have to go grocery shopping this evening and I’ve already done a load of laundry. Honestly, I need to lie down after that!

I have to say that I’m happy to be back where there is a winter climate, which means bright, sunny days with light reflecting off the snow. There is the occasional storm that blows through, but the aftermath is nice.

Should I, or shouldn’t I?

Howdy all. Had the HVAC folks ink, they report my duct work is deteriorating (holes) and recommended getting it upgraded and replaced…for many thousands. Probably should have thought it over more, but decided to go ahead as I haven’t paid much attention (read-none) to it for the 27 years the house has been mine. So next week they’ll be back to do some major work in the attic.

Hope you can do it, but if you want to walk on the continent, it will cost you some big bucks, so plan well ahead. And hang in there with the meetings; just remember, meetings are where the minutes are kept and the hours are lost…

FCM, that’s kind of…weird…moved some money yesterday from my checking to my savings, after today’s plan for the ductwork I may have to move it back!!

OK, need to scrounge up the ambition to head over to the gym for some more bicycling in one place exercise. All y’all take care.

Happy Doperversary, doggio! :cake:

This week will be on the busy side again work-wise, but definitely calmer otherwise: I only have one volunteer meeting to attend (this evening – but I don’t have to speak or be on camera), and I’m not going to another show until a week from today. I do have two volunteer reports due on Thursday, but those don’t take much time to draft. I also have therapy on Thursday and tattoo removal appointment #6 on Friday, but I’ll be quitting work early to go to the latter and then I have zero plans for the weekend (which is totally fine by me).

I went to the grocery store after work yesterday, and with only one exception everything I wanted was in stock! Even some things I’ve been having trouble finding for months! The exception was just a nice-to-have; getting everything else more than made up for it. It’s kind of sad how happy that trip made me.

I’ll be starting the laundry when I get up to grab some lunch (which will be right after I click “Reply”). I just did it a week ago: because I live alone and work from home I typically don’t generate much laundry in a week, but I’ve gotten two new shirts and I think I’d like to wear one of them on Thursday or Friday.

You know, that’s a really good point and something that hadn’t occurred to me (not that I’ve ever been in a similar position): I’ve always assumed that I’d opt for regular payments, figuring it would mean more security, but you’re absolutely right that – depending on the amount involved – the lump sum could be more advantageous.

Ha!

Yay! :tada:

Sounds like an excellent decision.

:open_mouth: My father, brother, and I have had our credit union accounts linked for decades: I know we’re talking about different CUs, but I’ll have to check mine and see if that’s a thing now!

I shall be stealing this… :joy:

i am wearing the reunited earrings today. back at the office, part of my mind is still mulling the furniture conundrum. there are 2 sofa in the office. i do like one of them, and it would work in the flat…hhhmmm, i might be shopping around for a sofa/couch/chesterfield/multiple person seating thing.

Y’all are sweet. Thanks for the tackle hugs.

I didn’t think inheritances were taxed if they were under $5million…

Tobias is being a challenge today. We’ll be leaving shortly to go to their house and let the dog out to pee, then to pick up Roxy and come back here. Supper will be ravioli bake and peas (I think) so at least that’s settled. Roof guys say 7-10 days until they can get us on the schedule, so FCD may end up doing it himself after all…

Always something…

Hi, everyone! I think I’ve caught up on all the posts. I’m doing better today…not as weepy. It’s been a bad year for losing old friends. My ex was older than I, so most of our mutual friends were, too, but 70-71 still isn’t at life expectancy. But onward and upward.

Since I was miserable yesterday anyway, I did my taxes. I’m getting a small refund, which is better than owing. Today I’m heading for yet another eye doctor appointment. There’s a big fish tank there. Last time I learned this fun fact: clown fish fight to establish dominance. The winner becomes female and grows to be the bigger of the two.

flyboy, glad you turned around. No snow down this way, and the sun is trying to shove aside the clouds enough to wave at us.

shoe, so glad you popped in. I had to stop myself daily from asking if anyone had heard from you, as I’d already done so once or twice and didn’t want to be a pain. Hope you and the critters are thriving.

BooFae, hope you can stay awake through the boring meetings. No, change that. Hope you can LOOK like you’re awake during the boring meetings.

My imaginary car is a 2023 Mercedes AMG-SL convertible, so I’m safe, too.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got did and mowage got done. Nappage has also been achieved. I had a beerverage out on the back porch after mowage. I love sittin’ on the back porch with a cold beerverage and admirin’ my handiwork after I mow. The road crew is still workin’ on the road. Gotta say it’s lookin’ good!

FlyBoy good choice to stay home.

Nellie glad you feel some better today. It’s sad to start losin’ friends from long ago.

An area around Ye Olde Home Towne used to be lots of rollin’ hills and farms. It’s all now a Kia auto plant.

Been following along this week, but haven’t had any news to mention…until now. Looks like I’m going to have to send my eldest cat across the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. Havoc is 17.5 years old, arthritic and increasingly incontinent. She had a bad night and was very weak and suffering this morning. Appointment with the vet this afternoon that I think she isn’t coming home from.

Not as traumatic as when I first returned to the MMP a few years ago, but a sad time nonetheless. She’s been a Good Girl all these years, but it’s time to give her rest and peace.

Howdy y’all. Terrible night of very little sleep and nappage today was just twilight sleep of crazy dreams so no rest for the weary. I just said heck with and got up. Maybe I can compensate tonight. Today has been a waste. It’s warm out and sunny. Very warm so I just turned the A/C on.

Just sitting here watching mindless bad TV.

Smart decision to turn around Flyboy. It’s pretty though.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Finally finished reading the Coffee MMP and have the following comments:

My Explorer was light pastel green except it was Willow

Nettie Congrats on the job offer!! :champagne:

I agree with MetalMouse; free fertilizer!

Nellie Yay for the new mattress and no backache!

Sounds like the CLCA could use the services of a City Planner consultant, perhaps on a volunteer basis.

{{{Nellie}}} So sorry for the loss of Bob. I know how you feel. An old dear friend Tom died on June 2, a day before another co-worker of ours retired. I have been hating the world without Tom in it ever since. :face_holding_back_tears:

I found an earring not too long ago that had been lost about 12 years ago and paired it with its mate; however, I can’t wear them as my pierced ears have closed up.

Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up on the Administrivia MMP soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh no… :people_hugging:

oooh, i remember havoc, i’m sorry to read this.

{{{ silenus }}}

:crying_cat_face:

Just got home. She is unconscious and unresponsive, so the trip to the vet will be a blessing.

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts.

poor havoc and silenus. i’m so sorry.

Hugs to Silenus

I am so sorry. May her passage be painless and peaceful.
