FAQ Bauer (aka Thread Rules)
1) What can be discussed in plain text, unboxed?
A: Any events in episodes, once aired on the east coast – as well as any speculation based on these already-aired events.

2) What should I confine to spoiler boxes?
A: Any discussion of upcoming shows that contains information from sources outside the aired material, or any speculation based on such things. This includes the “Next week on 24” previews, which some people choose not to watch.

3) If they can bring Tony back from the grave, why not Michelle Dessler?
A: Good question! Mmmmmm… Michelllllllllle…

Previously on 24…

  • Tony Almeida has taken a few years off to practice his surly, disgruntled look. He’s gotten quite good. Now he’s back, stealing technology for reasons unknown, and pretending to be a Die Hard 2 style baddie, almost crashing two planes together on the runway.

  • Dr. Phlox’s magic Hack-Anything-Anywhere USB 2.0 device has been handed over to the 24: Redemption bad guy, who’s working for General Jumanji (or whatever his name is), the African warlord. Madame President’s plans to smack him off the face of the planet may soon have some side effects.

  • Filling the sidekick void that has existed since the demise of Black Bauer (Curtis), we now have hot FBI Agent Renee Walker, codename “Jack Rowrrr!”

Season 7 seems to be off to a good start. Two more hours tonight! 8 PM EST.

Chloe! Bill!

Looks like Tony hasn’t been turned after all. Thank goodness.

Outstanding.
Chloe:
“You look great Jack, even if you are going to prison for a hundred years.
Do you have a razor Bill can borrow?”

Alright, I can get on board with this.

Okay, I love the fact that Tony wasn’t truly a terrorist, (we hope)…

But I couldn’t help but notice, did FBI Agent Garofalo just reference the law firm of Gage/Whitney? (Please tell me someone else caught that name drop?)

Good thing the FBI doesn’t have cars in the parking lot.

Yes, watching on TIVO.

From the previews:

What genius designed a safe room and allows poison gas to be routed into it?

Okay, Just wanted to be sure I didn’t imagine it.

The same person that designed the entire infrastructure of the US to be dependent on one guy working for 15 minutes on gunpoint.

Everybody in the 24-verse is a complete retard. Keep that in mind.

I am also totally on board with this. Especially if they kill Ms. Garofalo sooner rather than later.

Monday is shaping up to be a murderer’s row between the sitcoms on CBS, Chuck on NBC, and the House/24 combo on Fox. Plus Big East basketball. I’m going to be dual-DVR’ing and still having to go over to a friend’s house to watch something.

I’ve seen them do it for years. Can you really start a car like that, or just on TV and in movies?

We can’t forget that the entirety of the US’s anti-terrorism budget consists of Jack Bauer’s salary plus an infinite amount of ammo.

Ventilator malfunction! Damn! You’d think there would be an alarm on those things!

I liked that the Africans were speaking in their native tongue during the lock down panic. Not like the Russians from a past season who spoke to each other in English, but with Russian accents. But then they had to go and spoil the realism by having the ambassador speak to his wife while in the panic room, in English.

Two good episodes here with the makings of a good plot- I like the idea of a good chunk of this government being corrupt. It’s a natural progression for the show.

Unlike some of the posters in the first thread, I thought the debate on torture was going nowhere; 24 is just not equipped to handle that debate. The creators of the show clearly believe in torturing prisoners when necessary, same as they seem to really believe small dictatorships are really a danger to the U.S. (Sounds like a retroactive justification of something, I just can’t think of what.)

Just the same, I think Agent Rowrrr did a good job struggling with the face heel turn to torture. After being manhandled and choked out by Jack, is there any doubt those two will end up in bed at some point in the future?

I didn’t post in the first thread but I’ve been a fan 24 for years now and I have to confess that the torture aspect has somewhat troubled me in the past. I remember having discussions with friends defending it against accusations of being ‘conservative porn’. No, really.

I can’t defend the things Jack has done in the past necessarily, but I’m heartened somewhat by the idea that they’re trying to address it somewhat.

The CTU Universal Translator. Get over it.

Meanwhile, will “It’s Really Starting to Piss Me Off” Chloe and the FBI Computer Lady mud wrestle before the season is over?

I don’t know but there was one split screen tonight where they were literally head to head. Foreshadowing?
