FAQ Bauer (aka Thread Rules) 1) What can be discussed in plain text, unboxed?
A: Any events in episodes, once aired on the east coast – as well as any speculation based on these already-aired events.
2) What should I confine to spoiler boxes?
A: Any discussion of upcoming shows that contains information from sources outside the aired material, or any speculation based on such things. This includes the “Next week on 24” previews, which some people choose not to watch.
3) So what is Tony now… a triple-agent? Quadruple-agent once removed?
A: I can’t answer that. I lost my calculator.
Previously on 24…
Jack has a weepy talk with his daughter. They reconcile. He still refuses to let her save him with her stem cells, because apparently he’s a stubborn bastard with a death wish.
Tony hijacks the guard, makes him lead the way to the fuel tanks, plants C-4, drops the detonator in a grate, barely grabs the detonator in time, blows up the rockets, and does a Die Hard leap off the building while it’s 'sploding (visible from satellite-infrared-cam only).
Rogue Starkwood guard does a Perimeter Sweep, which is just a ploy to steal a cannister and run.
And now what’s up with Tony? After all of his heroism, including delivering the initial warning of Juma’s attack on the White House, he’s just either killed or knocked out Larry Moss and is in league with Perimeter Guy. Is he going to have some explainable motive for all of his actions today, or are the writers just pulling "gotcha!"s out of their nether regions?
“Fumble Fingers” Tony. I guess he’s a real bad guy since he killed the FBI guy Larry…Unless, unbeknown to us, but beknownst to Tony, Larry was really a bad guy…
Technically speaking, I think Larry had already been shot by the other dude – but Tony helped the process along.
Obviously, Tony’s willing to initiate a plan that wipes out a couples dozen FBI agents, though. So who is he working for anyways? Clearly not Starkwood. Can’t imagine that he faked blowing up the rockets.
Jack: You sure it wasn’t a .45?
Tony: What, you think I’m stupid enough to shoot myself in the gut with a .45? Er, I mean, well, it did happen kind of fast…
Man, they’re really repeating themselves tonight. This is the second time they’ve used the bad guy "shoots himself in the arm " gag and (possibly) the second time they’ve used the “key witness killed by an untraceable heart attack” gag. I think the scriptwriters have the same thing that Jack has.
Oh, and just like the previous guy, Tony is up and around 20 minutes after being shot.
Doesn’t he know about his grandchild?
Kim: Hell, no, Daddy will kill you. Nobody likes having you knock up their daughter, no matter how many licenses you have…
Tony, true to cocky bad guy form, spills the beans to the hero who he thinks cannot harm him. So sure was he that the sudden onset of Jack’s illness would prevent him from uttering the words, “Tony’s dirty.”
What was in his hand, that he showed Jack, when he said, “Is this what you’re looking for?”?
