FAQ Bauer (aka Thread Rules) 1) What can be discussed in plain text, unboxed?
A: Any events in episodes, once aired on the east coast – as well as any speculation based on these already-aired events.
2) What should I confine to spoiler boxes?
A: Any discussion of upcoming shows that contains information from sources outside the aired material, or any speculation based on such things. This includes the “Next week on 24” previews, which some people choose not to watch.
3) Hey Monstre, where you been?
A: Huh…? Wha…? Does anybody here actually remember me? Okay, I’ve been AWOL for a while, but c’mon – a new season of “24” is starting! Somebody’s got to get the threads going again, right?
Previously on 24:
Jack was dying, that’s right DYING! (yeah, yeah… again…)
Kim decides to undergo some risky operation, in which the doctors will extract stem cells from her and implant them into a cougar, whose offspring’s brain will contain a cure for the bio-agent that’s killing Jack. Of course, the Kim/cougar baby brain will have to be prepared first… extracted… diced…
Cherry Jones was still president… and still alive.
Agent Rowwrrrr was still hot. And about to follow in Jack’s rogue footsteps.
And joining us this season are:
Agent Starbuck
Agent Fred (Zoinks! Ruh-roh!)
24, Season 8, Episodes 1-2 Season Premiere!!
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Sweet. I had almost forgotten about this show; it was a pleasant surprise to learn that the season premiere was right around the corner. Here’s hoping for this year’s story will at least have some shades of plausibility!
Oh, what am I saying. It will probably be another plot along the lines of “the terrorists have captured a magical device that allows them to hack the internet and make the showers of all freedom-loving Americans spew acid at the same time.” It’ll still be fun, even if it’s stupid.
I don’t care if 24 is cheesy, I like it. IMO the main problem is that the writers run out of ideas around hour 16 and just create something really, really dumb to finish off the last 8 episodes. Seems to happen every year. I’ll be watching anyhow.
Well, from what I’ve seen, promo-wise, at least the first issue sounds like it will involve
an assassination attempt on an important diplomat/ambassador from another country. And a promo I saw on the www.fox.com/24 web site seemed to mention something about drones – like the ones our military uses abroad – sounds like there will be some drones loose flying around in New York, controlled by baddies…?
If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because SNL skits are seldom funny any more. Kiefer did lend his voice to the Simpsons episode that spoofed 24 – which was a great episode! But good point – I’d love to see him doing a few more of those kinds of things!
In an unrelated matter, I just noticed that his filmography on IMDB lists as an upcoming credit something called “Twelve”. I found that kind of amusing… (half of “24”? Jack Bauer’s adventures after retirement?)
