Are we ever going to get an explanation for how Cheng knew that Audrey was going to go meet that lady, and where? Unlikely.
Nonetheless, I’m still enjoying the heck out of this season. Chloe wailing on those guys with a pipe was good times. And Jack calling Mark an idiot was weirdly hilarious.
It’s entertaining how much they seem to have completely forgotten that they’re in England… although at least they’re giving lip service to the idea that there will be extra security at the ports because of, you know, the massive terror attack that took place 5 hours ago; which is a level of remembering-recent-events far beyond most seasons of 24.
While I can suspend disbelief to assume that the US sub was shadowing a Chinese carrier, the ability to shoot down a satellite minutes later is straining that suspension.
So now Jack has shoot up two Russian embassies? That is sure to get them off his back. I wonder what the big surprise will be next week. As Jack has already died twice, it isn’t that big a deal. Like any good comic book character, death is just a temporary inconvenience.
While I was watching, when Audrey meet the Chinese contact, I told my wife she dies. Just didn’t think it would be 5 seconds later. I thought she’d pay to the finale.
I thought it was funny… when Heller called Jack and Mark Boudreau into his office, I turned to my wife and said “You sold me out to the Russians, you son of a bitch!!!”, and sure enough three seconds later I think that was the exact line.
24 is a weird sort of guilty pleasure, kind of like a Bond movie. Of course it has a formula… but do we secretly want it to hit all the notes? I mean wouldn’t it have been disappointing if there WASN’T a mole this season, or there wasn’t Chloe = “computers are magic”?
They are good about leading you down X path then hitting you with Y from time to time. But it’s still good to occasionally be able to call a shot.
This just goes to show that in these uncertain and confusing political times, now more than ever we need the moral absoluteness of the Jack Bauer Power Hour.
