I can’t wait to see the fallout from last week’s explodey Heller!

No silent countdown turns out to be significant.

Since the good guys could see what the drone could see it seems like they’d know exactly where it was, making shooting it down easy pickins.

I (along with several others) called it.

Although I liked how evil momma was dispatched, it does mean we still have 3 full episodes of cleanup and dispatching the lesser baddies:

  1. New CTU/CIA director
  2. Audrey’s hubby
  3. Chloe’s boyfriend

I too was surprised that Evil Mom was killed off with 3 episodes left.

I was also surprised that after Chole pulled off that feat of video editing to fool Evil Mom, cutting to the explosion on the field in real time with the kind of precision that would make the average pro television director jealous, that Jack would stand out in the open in full view of a camera that had him and the prez perfectly framed and have a conversation.

But just when I thought Jack was getting rusty, he immediately sniffs out something rotten in Denmark at the CIA stronghold.

What? There are 3 more episodes? Until the last 10 minutes or so, I thought last night was it.

Credit where it’s due: good episode last night with lots of surprises, some unintentional. I seriously thought Ian would go rogue on his mom and swipe the last drone. I also thought Jordan would live and warn Kate. And the last scene of Jack and Margot was a shock, and indicates that pardon or not Jack will still be a rogue agent. And with a 12-ep season, I thought they’d skip the typical “it’s not over” scene that previous season’s have had.

When Audrey found out Jack had saved her father and gave her husband that little “so there!” look, I thought “thanks, sweetie, now he’ll make sure Jack goes to a Russian prison.”

Do we make anything of the fact that no one has mentioned or said who the VP is? Even when they were talking about Heller tendering his resignation (which, PS, no one seemed to mention last night?)

I suppose they could be saving it as a reveal, but I don’t know who from the past it could be that’d be a “last three episodes”-level surprise. Mike Novick is the only one I can think of. It’s not like Tony Almeida or David Palmer or even somebody non-dead like Charles Logan.

Maybe it’s Frank Underwood

The show pretty much ignores the Veep unless they absoutely have to acknowledge them. My “huh?” This season is both Audrey and the POTUS making no mention of her brother. It had to be tough running for President with a son that’s a radical Green you once authorized to be tortured by those devils at CTU! He was a whiney jerk and there’s no need to show him but when Heller thought he was going to die and reminisced about a day at the beach with Audrey, no mention of where he was, no regrets about their strained relationship? Cold.

He’s playing basketball with Chuck Cunningham.
